The biggest problem is the noise it make it just horrendous and unbearable. Look somewhere else for quiet humidifier but a great machine overall.

Posted .It sounds like the mineral content in the water you are using is high, which can cause this ultrasonic humidifier to produce white dust on surfaces or furniture. To clarify, these types of machines turn the water into a mist and throw it out into the air. Whatever minerals/elements are in the water are also in the mist being put out by the machine. As the moisture evaporates into the air, the minerals/elements are left behind and will settle around the room as dust, and in most cases it is white. It is not harmful in any way; it is just the contents of your water. To prevent this from happening/reducing the amount of dust, distilled or purified water can be used in your machine. Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The Honeywell Home Mistmate 0.5 Gal. seemed like a great deal for 30 bucks at Best Buy after reading all of the great reviews. HOWEVER, after only 4 months, the motor started to burn out; the evidence being the loud noise it emitted after using it nightly for only 6 to 8 hours. VERY DISAPPOINTING that this unit couldn't even last for one year. POORLY MADE. I will not be buying another one just to have to replace it after a few months. I took good care of it, cleaned it regularly with vinegar, emptied it out, and dried if off after use, etc. WHAT A PIECE OF CRAP.

It leaks all around from top joint

When I look closely, I can see water seeping from top where clear plastic bowl meets the black plastic top, all around. Clear safety hazard, cannot continue using and risk electrocution. It’s a shame, really liked the design otherwise.
