It's a vertical axis fan

It takes up less space in a tight dorm room as it oscillates on a vertical axis. It spits out very little air on the "quiet" settings, so if you really want to feel cooler in a hot humid dorm room you need to use the fastest speeds which are not quiet. There is no tilt like a round fan, so if your bed happens to be elevated you need to put the fan on your chair or desk to feel the air moving. Overall, it does the job.

Great tower fan

I live in NYC and street noise is omnipresent and this fan helps to cut it out at night time. It is very quiet as far as tower fans go and pushes the air around my apartment perfectly. If you're looking for something to cool an entire place look elsewhere, this is solely for a smaller room. Know what you're buying
