Used this Hoover Oxy cleaner for spot cleaning (pet cleanups, what can you do, right?) and for pre-treating stains before doing a larger carpet cleaning with my steamer. This stuff is awesome. The only feedback I’d give is that it doesn’t have any visible foaming action when spot cleaning. The formula goes on clear and might be hard to see working right away, but when you agitate you can see the cleaning power go to work. This worked for some pet stains from previously unsuccessful cleanups as well. Sprayed the areas spots, waited 10 minutes, then ran my floor cleaner over them and the carpets look and smell great! Highly recommended product!

It works! I got this Oxy Tough Stain Remover and had intended to pre-treat carpet spots with it then use my carpet cleaner to try to remove the stains. As it happened, the carpet cleaner wasn't working. So I just followed the instructions on the bottle: I sprayed the area thoroughly with the Oxy Tough Stain Remover and let it get to work for 10 minutes - I just let it set. After that I blotted the spots with a damp clean white cloth. The spots were removed! I tried 2 more areas and got the same fantastic results. I can only imagine how well this stuff would work in conjunction with the carpet cleaner. Great product - I highly recommend it!

Stuck inside and got an early jump on spring cleaning. This stuff has helped get out some of the carpet stains that have hung around for too long. Between recent puppy and kid, plenty to take care of. Plus a few stains from the parents, too. I think some were coffee and cola besides what the kid and dog did. I like the idea of using a black light to find areas we've previously missed but haven't had a chance to get out to find one of those. Would be great idea if one came free with the bottle.

We're actually fans of other Hoover carpet care products, so we were excited to give this one a try. The "Oxy" on the label was clearly meant to imply especially strong stain removal prowess with bleaching oxidization action or something like that. We understandably expected it to tackle some of our new and older carpet stains with aplomb. Was it actually all that in the end...well, it basically worked, so...yay, I guess. We picked both lightly stained and more deeply trafficked areas of our light beige pile carpets in hallways and on the stairs. We followed the directions--first spraying it on, letting it sit, blotting it off...nothing, no change in the carpet other than it was now a bit wetter. We tried a few more applications, but the spray-on/blot-away promise just didn't deliver. So we moved to another dingy area of the carpet, this time spraying the Oxy Tough, working the cleaner in with a brush, and then scrubbing it away and blotting the carpet of the excess. That seemed to work much better than our initial attempts, but it also matched the performance of a similar spot cleaner we already had on hand for accidents and small messes which we already knew needed to be scrubbed and worked into the fibers to really get the carpet clean. Finally, we tried our steamer/shampooer along another hallway, treating the area to be cleaned but doing our best to only spray half of it with the Oxy Tough and following with the steamer, and cleaning the other half using only passes from the shampooer. The results were indistinguishable. So, yeah, the Oxy seemed to loosen up dirt and stains enough for the steamer to follow-up and make everything look nice and smell fresh, but nothing dramatically more so than what a decent carpet shampooer could do already. That's not to say it didn't work for us, it just didn't really do anything other than what any other cleaner marketed for the same kind of job would probably do (at least based on our testing), and the need to scrub for effect for spot treatments was a little disappointing based on the promise from the label. Still, it definitely didn't NOT work and while that's not a resounding endorsement, at least I can say that there's no reason NOT to snag a bottle if you're in need.

So i received this for free as a tester. I like to give honest reviews as I can't stand giving a good review just because something was given to you. With that being said i used this on a 7 year old carpet with some pet staining and faint odors. I can say this worked exceptionally well given the age and conditions of the carpet. The smell was gone even after a week where it usually reappears after cleaners dry. The spots also look much cleaner. It's a great product based on my trials. I purchased 2 more bottles. With pets it's definitely good to have some around.

it did not remove stain what i bought for.........

I've always used cheap stain removers that never really did the trick, they would remove some of the stain, but not penetrate deep enough. This stuff however, if you follow the instructions and let it soak for 10 minutes and then blot it with a rag, careful to lift the stain up not rub it in, you will achieve some great results! I used this on an area rug that had some old stains from food, a wrist guard for my keyboard, my car seats which were in dire need of stain removal, and it worked on all of them! Highly recommend this product.

The Hoover - 22-Oz. Oxy Tough Stain Remover is amazing on my carpets. Living in a house with pets and children, the carpets get stains from time to time and the Hoover Oxy stain remover makes them disappear. Tracks of mud from the yard, the occasional spill, and food stains don't stand a chance. I even used it on my furniture with outstanding results. I highly recommend the Hoover 22-Oz. Oxy Tough Stain Remover. It will help keep you home clean with ease.

As with all carpet/upholstery cleaners, please test it on a small section to make sure it doesn't affect the color. I used this on a chocolate milk/syrup stain on our carpet. We've used multiple other products on it with no success. We vacuumed the area and applied the stain remover and let it sit for 10 minutes. We then started blotting up the stain with a damp sponge and rinsed and repeated until the stain was gone! It worked when others didn't!

I'm always skeptical when it comes to "stain removers" because they usually only work on a "few" stains. I had a pet stain that never seemed to go away with other cleaners but this one took care of it. I also had a spot in my carpet that was done with a black indelible maker and to my surprise, it took care of it. For the record, the marker had been on the carpet for several months. I also didn't detect any residue or odor.

This stain remover worked really well on new spills and stains along with the old ones that needed some additional attention. Fortunately, our dogs don’t mess the house too often but I cleaned a couple of stains that were older than I care to admit and the carpet looks significantly better. Each of the stains I went after looked a lot better when I had finished up. I will stick with this one going forward.

This is a great cleaner. Not just for carpets either. I have used it a couple of time on clothes and upholstery. It took the stains out very quickly. It also has a very pleasant smell, unlike some other cleaners, which are overpowering and chemically smelling. This just leaves a nice clean, mild scent behind. Overall, it gets the job done, and smells great doing it.

I opened the box and the bottle was wrapped in a plastic bag. Opening the bag and I was met with a wet bottle. I rinsed and dried the bottle as well as my hands. I don't fault Hoover and didn't deduct any stars for the leakage as they clearly marked the box fragile, liquid and this end up. I have beige carpet and I applied it to a few stains. The product works great. I have an upright shampoo machine and a few passes and the stains disappeared. On a few small ones, I blotted the area with a plain white paper towel and it worked very well. The only problem with the product is the smell. It is strong and smells of chemicals. I usually use Folex cleaner and it does the job without the odor. Given the choice, I'll stick to my original choice. If Hoover could reduce the odor, this would be a fine product. As is, I'd choose another cleaner. I'm hoping the smell dissipates, but as of now, it's still very noticeable. For that reason I wouldn't recommend the product.

follow the instructions and it works well. I have a rug cleaner so its nice I can use this with that. also nice to have this for when you need to just get a small spot. and not want to get the whole rug cleaner out. I used a paper towel with it and that worked. it removed the stain and put it on the towel.

I am legitimately surprised with how well this works. We HAD a stain in the rug for the last couple years, it had survived multiple carpet cleanings, every imaginable spray treatment and any other ideas we had. I figured I would try this Hoover Tough Stain Remover, without much expectations. SURPRISE! The stain is gone. And it wasn't due to the spray and a carpet cleaner (recommended). It took all of 10 minutes and a damp paper towel. A few sprays. A ten minute wait. A damp paper towel dabbing the area. And the brown stain was now on my paper towel. Gone from the carper. Sadly I am looking forward to taking out a few more stains this weekend. This time I am using the carpet cleaner after using this as a pre-treatment. Highly recommended for anyone with lighter carpet and pets. Or kids. Or just a light carpet and feet.

I’ve used this a couple of times. It does a decent job on most things. The smell isn’t over powering like some cleaners so that was a plus for my wife. It’s strong enough to where it was lightening spilt fingernail polish but didn’t remove it completely.

Easy to use and works great. Sprayed it on a few spots on my carpet, let it sit for 10 minutes, and then wiped it off with a towel. It cleaned the spots very well, and is odorless unlike so many cleaning products. Would highly recommend!

I have an older dog with a weak bladder. This was perfect for removing those tough stains. It's also helped to remove that terrible smell from the carpet in the basement. I would absolutely recommend this to a friend!

We have four cats, a dog and young child. Carpet stains are a frequent event. This product provides a quick way to clean them easily. I highly recommend to keep on hand for those unexpected accidents.
