    WOW!

First, let me be clear that the cons that I list should in no way disuade you from buying the Hoover. 1st when I opened the box I found the bristles on the attachment were bent over, I tried to straighten them out and the cap snapped off.I was pressing pretty hard, in hindsight it was kind of stupid.I'm not worried,I can get a replacement but I'd probably never use it anyway. The 2nd con is the container is tough to close after dumping. It apears to be a design flaw as it comes with a big warning label. It's really not a big deal, it didn't bother me at all. 3rd con is the wand could be longer but not that big of a deal either. Now for the positives. My mother has a dyson($599) First of all I'd like to say that $600 for a vaccuum is ridiculous!. It is nice though, I have used it many times. I am glad I went witht he hoover. It feels much more solid and has a better warranty and its $100 cheaper than the cheapest smallest dyson. (Really, does he think his vaccuums are made of gold?!) I was a contractror and have the best shop vac on the market and I truley believe the hoover has better suction. Yes it"s that good!. I sucks up hair balls out of carpet and it doesn't throw objects that get sucked up(like pennies, etc) it just sucks them up and they don't even rattle around. I was amazed what it picked up, absolutely amazed! I was also amazed that the dirty/clean light actually works, it took a long time for it to go out cuz my carpects were bad. The smell of the dirt in the canister was foul! My son has mild athsma and this should make it at least a little better. I had to talk my wife into spending the money, she just buys the $60 vaccuums every other year. Took aboout 4 months of nagging to convince her. Bottom line... save up if you need to and get this vac. After years of using cheap vacs this is sooo awesome! Buy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Not worth the price

It does a pretty good job picking up, however the design of the dirt release button being towards the bottom of the canister should be reconsidered as your hands are in the garbage can with the canister to release the dirt. YUCK! Mine also has a problem staying closed so when I take the canister off the vacuum to empty it, the door flies open and the dirt falls out all over the floor. I literally have to slam it on the ground to get it to stay closed. I think that for the price the quality should be better.

    Not happy with this purchase

This vacuum was easy to assemble and had great suction, but it was so difficult to push that my arm hurt after cleaning only half of my livingroom carpet. The vacuum also seemed cheaply made, and when you hit the release to empty the chamber, dirt would fly everywhere. A better design would have been where you could pour the dirt out of the top of the chamber. I returned this vacuum after owing it for about two weeks.

    hoover vs dyson

I had a Dyson for about 8 years and loved it..... So I bought another one and within 1 week, the brush stopped rolling. I tried all the "on-line tricks" to get it to turn, took the thing apart looking for blockages, and it just wouldn't turn, so I took it back and saw this Hoover Windtunnell and decided to give it a try. The price is high, but compared to a Dyson, it's in the ballpark. Of course since I had such a great experience with my Dyson, I'm comparing this Hoover to the Dyson. So far, the suction on the Hoover is much better than the Dyson. The cord is longer on the Hoover than on the "new Dyson" (it's the same as my old Dyson). My major complaint against the Hoover is the release on the dirt canister. It will not catch to close. I have to manually push the the little lever back in, which means my hands are filthy when I'm finished. My other major complaint against the Hoover is that it doesn't have an edge cleaner, and the hose is way too short. I have vaulted ceilings and my old Dyson was perfect for cleaning the ceiling fans or walls. This Hoover will never reach. All in all......I'm probably going to take the Hoover back and get a different Dyson. I think I just got a bad one (DC14). I'm not satisfied with this Hoover.

    Worst Vacuum I've owned

I have had this vacuum for about 45 days and it is the worst vacuum I've owned. It does not deep clean the carpets at all, after running it over and over the carpet the light shows clean but there is visible dirt on the carpet. The dirt cup is very small and has to be emptied constantly. Dirt get's up into the unit and the whole thing has to be taken apart with screwdriver and re-assembled to clean it out (this was after the first use). Today I used it (again, I've only had it for 45 days) and it no longer picks up dirt at all off the hardwood the suction is no longer working. Very sorry that I bought this as now I am stuck with an expensive vacuum that does not work. Should have returned it the first week I had it but too busy...no Best Buy will not do a return. I bought this because of the good reviews on this site but I'm not sure where they come from. The vacuum weighs a ton and is very hard to maneuver. At least you get a great workout pushing it around. Now if only it would actually pick up dirt. Save your money or invest it in something that works...and please let me know when you find a good vacuum.
