Emptying canister not as easy as you think...

Prerpare yourself to spend more time than you think when empting the canister. Clogs of dirt get stuck between the outside plastic and inside plastic cone of the inner cyclone and you better take a look at the washable filter when your done every time cause it really gets dirty and dirt collects everywhere on top of the plastic cone. And this happens every time Im finnished vacumming. How can Hoover recommend cleaning the filter every 2 months when it gets full of dirt after only 1 time. But its still better than spending $10.00 a pop for 2 bags. Otherwise vacumm works very well. Very good suction. Cord coud be longer. Quiet for a 12 amp vacumm. Very easy to handle lighter than my older Hoover 1st Genneration bagsless vacuum. Overall plastic construction puts it at risk for damage, so be careful when you use it. Otherwise no issues with anything yet after a month. Half of reviews problems can be avoided if you dont act like a beast and don't treat it like a tank. Its mostly plastic. Get the warranty, Hoover isn't one of the most reliable brands but their windtunnel technology is the best.

    I don't often write reviews.....

Purchased this vacuum after reading many reviews here, on Amazon & Consumer Reports. My old vacuum still worked, wasn't the best, but so old minor parts (belts, etc) no longer made...... I had a bag less vacuum before and wasn't too thrilled so a bit hesitant about this one. Used it for the first time today! When others say it has suction, they're not kidding! I was amazed to see how well it cleaned my carpets. It worked okay on tile floors too. The one thing I was most impressed with, was that it picked up human hair so well! Have 2 cats, yes, did fine with pet hair, it's the problem human hair from two females with long hair which falls out....we have thick hair....;). This vacuum picked it all up like it was nothing! Also, have a delicate rug in living room, used the smaller brush attachment to see how it would work on rug and did great! I am very happy with my purchase and think I got a great deal! Used it to clean a moderate sized house. (4 bedrooms, halls etc.) cord seems fine in length, at least average. Canister emptied once during cleaning but house hadn't been vacuumed in 1-2 wks! I would recommend this vacuum over any other I've ever owned.

Great Price For A Great Vacuum

I went with all the reviews I found online (which were all positive) on this product and decided to purchase it- and boy, it does not disappoint! It picked up all the things my older and heavier vacuum missed. I love the wind-up cord feature. It's not a very loud machine (moderate noise), which is a plus as well. It's also not very heavy but it's not super light either, which isn't a big deal in my book because I think it's a perfect balance. PLUS- you can't beat the price. LOVE this vacuum! You won't regret buying this one!

I love this vacuum! It is one of the best purchases I've ever made. PROS: * Picks up so much hidden dirt in our thick carpet, it scared us the first time we looked in the canister! * For how much power it has, it is actually very quiet - quieter than our old 10 amp vacuum. * Turns on a dime and gets into nooks and crannies really well - we don't have to use the hand tools on every single wall edge. * The attachment with moving brushes cleans stares amazingly well. * No filters or bags to buy - this is a huge plus as we could never find a replacement filter for our old vacuum. * The cord is very long and it retracts into the vacuum. Wow. I find wrapping up long cords so annoying. Having this cord self retract is actually kind of fun (ok, so I'm easily amused!) * The color is trendy. * I like that you can adjust the height for different carpet lengths. I know that this isn't a groundbreaking feature, but not all vacuums have it and it makes a big difference. CONS: * While it is comparatively lightweight, people that have a hard time lifting may find it a little heavy. * Other reviews complain that pet hair can get stuck in the canister, and that at times you may have to reach in slightly with two fingers to pull the hairs out. To me, this is only a minor annoyance. With any bagless vacuum, there will usually be some occasional contact with the materials that you you are cleaning off of your carpets.

Best vacuum I have ever owned!

The title of my review says it all. I have not owned a better vacuum. We have four cats so hair can be a problem at times. I brought this home and vacuumed with our old vacuum first and then I used this. The amount of hair and dirt it picked up from our carpet was astonishing. It is a little on the heavier side, but I prefer it being that way. I don't feel like this would be easy to break. It absolutely rejuvenated our carpets -- every time I vacuum with this it is like having new carpet again. It is bagless and is very easy to clean out and due to the amount of stuff it picks up from the floor, I have to empty it every two uses or so. It is a small price to pay for having our floors be so clean. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase. I would definitely recommend this to anyone even if they did not have pets.

Bought to replace my Dirt Devil Purpose for Pets vacuum. It is quieter than my old vacuum, and it certainly performs better. I'm not sure how long it will continue to perform at my expectations, but at the price, I don't expect it to last forever, and won't be heartbroken if I have to replace it in a few years. There are some negatives - features I could have found on a more expensive vac, but that I really miss. I wish it had a headlight. I never realized how much I liked that until I tried to vacuum my rather dark stairs. And speaking of stairs, the wand is not nearly long enough - and while the vacuum isn't very heavy, it is bulky and difficult to hold on the stairs while vacuuming. I do like the location of the power button (on the handle where it's convenient#, and the location of the button to tilt it back #right where your toe would normally be.) I also like the self retracting cord, and hope that doesn't break any time soon. All in all, a very good value for the price, just missing a few features.

    Consumer Reports wasn't wrong

I found this vac on consumer reports and thought for under a $100 bucks its the top rated bagless upright scoring a 69. Don't let the score fool you there were not many over 60 and none in the 80's even the dysons failed to score higher (DC-28) scored a 67. My personal highs, sucks well but its a vac and does good on carpet and just as good or better on bare floors. Tools are easy to locate and use. Does well on dog hair, beats my old Dyson to bits. Its loud...but again its a vac. Miss that headlight also. Not a good one to bounce up and down stairs cause it is heavy but for the price you can buy 2. The filter is easy to clean but its a bit small so you fill it up and have to empty all the time. I have to empty for every two rooms or a really dirty room. The rewind cord is great but I can see it breaking in a year or two. But for now its a great vac.

Cleans Great... BETTER THAN THE DYSON DC33

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Ok, since there was a sale, I took advantage and purchased this vacuum and the Dyson DC33 (with the sale price, you can buy 3 1/2 of these to one Dyson DC33). I have short rugs in my house (no area rugs). I vacuumed one room with the Hoover first then the Dyson second, then another room with the Dyson first then the Hoover. Hands down, this vacuum picked up more dirt and debris than the Dyson. The Dyson cleaned OK and has great suction BUT the beaters for the run just didn't do anything. The Hoover picked up the dust, debris, dirt AND sand! It seems the Dyson just couldn't pick up the grit and sand. It was shameful. The Hoover picked up about 1/3 more than the Dyson. If you need a vacuum, don't hesitate. This one can't be beat for the price (it was also the highest rated BAGLESS vacuum tested in Consumer Reports).

I bought this vacuum about 3 weeks ago and have used it about 7-8 times now. I have a large 99 lb dog that sheds like crazy! The suction is great. The other features I really like are the weight (when carrying it up and down the stairs) and the long cord length. I empty it frequently and it really picks up a lot of hidden dust/dirt, etc. This was an upgrade from a 8 yr old Kenmore and for the sale price of $99, I am impressed! One day, I will more than likely get a Dyson, but for now, I give this 4 out of 5 stars. The only thing that I would say is a con is the hose length. I thought I saw it was advertised somewhere at 7-8 ft, it is clearly more like 5-6 max and that is really stretching it. I would recommend for a pet owner and for the price and overall quality, this was a great purchase!

I bought this vacuum to replace my 5+ year old Eureka Boss. I have 4 cats in a one-bedroom apartment and I needed a vacuum that was effective with pet hair but not expensive. I bought this one about 4 days ago and I really like it. I first vacuumed the carpets with my old vac cleaner, and then with the new Hoover, and the Hoover collected so much more cat hair and dust that the old vacuum left behind (so gross to think about). Its attachments get up most of the pet hair off of my furniture, and the attachment hose has very strong suction. The hose and the cord are long enough (the retractable cord is a plus!). Also, there is a second load-bearing handle (where the green plastic is over the canister) that makes carrying up stairs easier (the vac is 17.5 pounds for those who are interested). It came in about 8 pieces and wasn't hard to assemble. The canister is easy to empty once you try it a few times, and the box says that the filter is rinseable and doesn't have to be replaced. The only thing I don't like about it is that after I vacuumed the carpet, I didn't see those tell-tale lines/patterns in the carpet that I think look really good. But, this wouldn't prevent me from buying it again or recommending it to others. I am so glad I bought this and did not spend hundreds more on a Dyson. Also, the store had all of the vacuums on display, so I could push them around to see which I liked best. I tried the "Dyson ball" technology, and didn't like it, so I am glad I tried and stuck with a more old fashioned style.

This vacuum really picks up the pet hair and dirt from carpets! Puts my $300 Kenmore to shame. The quality of the body however, is on the low side. Why can't manufacturers use METAL on all stress points instead of cheap, breakable, plastic? On this machine the dirt cup attachment hook is plastic and is stubborn to reengage after emptying. I picked it up by the handle on the dirt cup and twice it disengaged and the vacuum fell to the floor. Also, the attachment hose is about 3 feet too short. The noise level is about average, not excessively loud. Lightweight enough to carry easily. Overall, I would recommend it despite the flaws mentioned.

I don't have the best track record when it comes to owning vacuums...but this one is by far my favorite that I have owned. It's awesome at picking things up (on any surface) and I absolutely LOVE the retractable cord. The cord itself is shorter than I would like (I pretty much have to unplug and replug with each room change) and I also think the hose is a bit on the short side, but the suction more than makes up for those two minor things. As silly as it may seem, I'm also a big fan of the fact that the hose LOCKS onto the vacuum. With my previous vacuum, the hose kept falling out while I was vacuuming! It's also lightweight and fairly quiet, which are bonuses as well. For the price, this vacuum is unbeatable!

Got it on sale, making it even a better deal. Nice for large city apartment with mix hardwood/rug flooring. Probably too small attachments and capacity for larger home or more carpet. Dirt container full pretty fast -- which is good, it is working well. Always empty before halfway point, or dust will get caught above vortex ridges and big pain to get out. I do not regret not getting the higher end model with folding stock, light, pet, carbon, and roller turnoff. Suction is great. Filter is great. Exhaust air is very clean. Great at clearing dusty nooks and crannies and keyboard. Roller does throw larger pieces of debris backwards on hardwood floors (hit my foot). Nice attachments but the hose is too short to reach very high -- don't expect to reach the top of your window blinds, ceiling. I find it better to switch attachments with power on, otherwise dust tends to fall out of the attachment point on to either the floor or vacuum body. Cleanup is way dirtier than i hoped -- the ad video says never need to touch dust. When releasing dust flies and sticks all over outside bottom cover and bottom area of the dust container. It may be me -- as I am using small, short kitchen trash container with supermarket bags, it may cleaner cleanup with a full height empty trash container. A bit concerned about durability -- some plastic attachments seems on the brittle side and the power cord is soft, probably for cordwinder to work, so I will be extra careful it does not get caught and damaged under vacuum roller.
