Customers are saying

Customers are enthusiastic about the Hoover WindTunnel Anniversary Edition HEPA Upright Vacuum's self-propelled feature, powerful suction, and excellent carpet cleaning capabilities. Many appreciate its ease of use and the included attachments. While some find it a bit loud and heavy, the positive feedback on cleaning performance significantly outweighs these concerns.

Since I retired I do most of the housework. The self-propelled Hoover make the vacuuming a lot easier. It really has ample power to pick up dirt, and dog hair. Makes the carpet look almost new.

Over all I really like this vacuum. It has a lot of power. It's quieter than my last vacuum. Easy to use the tools.

I read that this vacuum beat Dyson in tests. I think I believe it although I've never tried Dyson. I just know that this vacuum pulls tons of grime out. It's so easy to push and I've never had trouble maintaining it.

    Great Vacuum

We needed to replaced our bagless vacuum cleaner. I spent years cleaning out the chamber and filter of that thing, which was pretty disgusting. No more of that. This vacuum has a good constant suction and we can vacuum the floor a number of times before needing to replace the bag, which is very simple to do. It also has the red light, green light "clean" indicator, which is very helpful. Great vacuum, worth the purchase.

I looked at the reviews for Dyson and other vacuums. The Hoover wind tunnel usually had better ratings for less money. I like having the bag. The bagless model I had before created way too much dust. I also like all the attachments.

I received the Hoover WindTunnel Vacuum as a Christmas gift from my husband. As it was not in stock at our local Best Buy he had it shipped from the warehouse to the WhiteMarsh store. It arrived in good condition on the date expected. The vacumn works great and even has lights to let you know when your carpet is clean.

great vacuum with a few bad flaws

I have had 6 of these vacuums and really like them... but all six vacuums had the same problem. Eventually the cord will pull lose at the back of the handle and there is no easy way to repair it. Another downer is that the on/off button has stopped working on several of the vacuums. That might seem like a lot of negatives, but I still buy them because they vacuum really well. I vacuum 5000 sq ft a nite with mine.. and except for the cord problem and the hassle of having to unplug the vac to turn it off, they are great. I would compare their performance to many high dollar professional vacuums.

My previous vacuum was a Hoover Powerdrive self-propelled upright model #U6323-930, which lasted me about 15 years. This vacuum is similar to, but an improvement over that one (see "what's great about it") and I expect it will last just as long. We have 3 dogs and a cat and this vacuum performs better at picking up fur than our previous Hoover. Before these two Hoovers we had a Rainbow water-filled cannister (?) vacuum which worked well but was expensive. The Hoover is priced higher than some of its competitors but if it lasts as long as I expect it to, it's worth it.

    Hoover Performance Excellent/Best Buy Superior

After 3.5 years the height adjuster on the vacuum cleaner began slipping... annoying but not devastating. After a few weeks I took it in to Best Buy with my copy of the 4 year extended warranty. They looked at the VC told me to go pick out a new one and come back. They did not have the exact model (still a best buy from Consumer Reports) and promptly ordered the desired model. Picked it up 3 days later and all I paid for was the new 4 year service contract. GREAT JOB from both Best Buy staff and Hoover.

It was a little more than I wanted to spend, but works really well. Have two Golden Retrievers and does great with Pet Hair. I had a Bissell that was suppose to be designed for pets and it clogged way too much. Have had it for about 2 months now and it's still going strong!

This vacuum seems to work very well for the price I paid. It has multiple features that are very handy. My only problem with the vacuum is the self propelled mechanics seem a little clunky and unrefined.

Do Not Purchase Hoover WindTunnel Anniversary Ed.

I am SO frustrated with this vacuum cleaner I purchased last August. Almost from day one it was noisy and there was a problem with the roller not turning, plus it doesn't pick up well much of the time. I was shocked today to read Elle's review from Ohio to learn it's the exact problem I'm having, so apparently it is a defect with Hoover. I, too, contacted customer service and received a lengthy email with instructions for disassembling the vacuum cleaner, replacing belts, etc., none of which I've had time to do. Considering nothing worked for Elle, I doubt I even try it. My previous Hoover lasted for approximately 5 years, so I was satisfied, but certainly not with this one. I definitely would not recommend this purchase to anyone.

    Buy something else

I am writing this so hopefully no one else will have the experience I have had. I read all kinds of reviews and did research before buying this vacuum. I was in clean floor heaven for the first three weeks after I bought this. It worked wonderfully and my carpets were very clean. It worked especially well on cat hair. Then, I accidently sucked up a tassle from a rug. That was the end of it. I contacted customer service and was sent a two page list of instructions to take my vacuum apart and fix it. I did everything stated. It did not fix it. I have since contacted customer service at least 5 times via phone and twice via email. The first time I was sent (physically) to a Service Center that was closed. The second time I spoke to three people who then put me on hold and then hung up. The next three times I called I was put on hold and then hung up on. I sent two additional emails and have not received a response to either. The nearest service center is very far from my home so I am not happy with this at all. I am just very, very disappointed with the lack of customer service. I think you are taking a risk if you buy this. If anything goes wrong, Hoover is just not set up to help. I am also disappointed that something like sucking up a small tassle could apparently destroy this vacuum. This is a very common thing for people when vacuuming. It is not a very hardy model. I am not saying this lightly either, as this is my second Hoover Windtunnel. However, the first lasted for 10 years, not three weeks. I really don't want people to be stuck in the situation I am in. Good luck with your choice. I hope you have better luck than I did.

    Do not buy this vacuum

I bought this vacuum in September 2008. I chose this vacuum based on the reviews at the time and because it is a bagged vacuum. Bagged vacuums are better for people who have allergies. This vacuum worked great for 8 months. Then, the self-propel feature broke and it became very difficult to push and put off this horrible burning plastic/motor type smell when we used it. We had bought a protection plan with it (Thank goodness) and took it back to the store. Geek Squad asked us what happened to it and then told us it couldn't be repaired and they would just give us a refund. I LOVED this vacuum in the beginning (when it worked) was very sad to find out that it couldn't be repaired. Seriously? How poorly are appliances made these days? They sure don't make things like they used to. So, now I'm in search for a new vacuum. 8 months is all I got out of it? I don't even have any kids or pets or unusual carpet that might have made this vacuum stop working properly. It's just a poor quality product and won't last you very long. I highly urge you to find another vacuum.

I had an old Wind Tunnel I had had for years and decided a couple years ago to get a new one. The new one was fine for a while, then the belt kept coming off. I've called Hoover and all they suggest is to get a new belt (can't tell you how many I've gone thru). I use Hoover belts, not the generic ones and nothing works. Last week I hadn't gone 3 feet when I could smell burning rubber of the belt coming off. I took it to the garage where I had been using my old one and swapped them out. I'm now in the market for a new vacuum, but it won't be a Hoover.
