About what I expected based on reviews. Looses power on any uphill grade. Tires are difficult to inflate...receptor to close to tire/rim. Overall reasonably pleased

This is the 2nd scooter I got from this brand, 1st one was a Alpha Pro model, the rear disc got stuck and I flew away, but at least it got to 18 mph.
This one offers you 18mph not true, it just gets to 16mph if that, I weight 185 lbs. Offer supposedly 28 mi range not true either I have no batery after ride it for about 7.5 mi.
I need a scooter to commute from my job to the train station but this scooter is more expensive and it doesnt gives what it offers.
Tha manual is incomplete and wrong, the cruise control starts by itself unless turned off, in the manuel tells you, you have to double tap the power trigger.
No information regarding all the mods, the scooter came in KPH not MPH, I had to go through the settings to find out how to change no manual online either.
Buy the Alpha Pro that one at least has the power and range is pretty accurate, and has better lighting at night(lights in the bottom of the scooter).

Electric scooter with a classic black design with some blue accents, study and resistant while portable. This model is a nice choice for urban transport thanks to the +20 miles range or (my recommended) for a long day of kids' fun.
The scooter arrives unassembled in five components and needs to be assembled at home. This should not be a problem for anyone and I don’t think any external support is needed. Very clear quick start instructions and all components (including an Allen key) are in the box. Total time to be ready, less than 20 min.
The folding, as in most of the models, is fast and doesn’t require any tool. Manually you unlock the perfectly designed folding mechanism and lower the steering column over the platform. For a smaller size, the handlebars can also be removed but I don’t think adds a significant size reduction. This is still a bit heavy scooter weighted at 44 pounds that could not be ideal for all types of combined commute. In the safety part, the manufacturer recommends time to time, to strengthen the folding clip mechanism using the allen key but this is not something that I think is needed very often and should not be done other than as a regular maintenance operation.
10’’ pneumatic tires that make the riding very smooth and suitable for city driving. The pneumatic tire adds a component of security by reducing slips, while introduces the puncture risk. With all the ride is super smooth and on asphalt floors, it feels great. The addition of mudguards front and back will protect you from splashing water. Finally, a great kick-stands that keeps the scooter standing and steady avoiding scratches with the floor.
You must first kick off the ground for the motor to start. Riding and turning feel very natural thanks to a very balanced scooter with a big platform to comfortably room your two feet. The scooter has three power modes (beginner, normal, and sport) that strategically control the power to be deliver by the motor. Having three modes serves the different risk tolerance for the speed of the entire family. It includes double brakes on the front and rear wheels (with brake light).
The power and motor are the part that can still improve, in my weeks of tests, its motor has offered me the adequate power to drive at a maximum speed of 23 km/h (14 miles) over an 18 miles speed in the specs (I am 5 11 and 195 pounds guy). I know that there are faster scooters in the market, but it seems enough to me for riding in a flat city with some speed. My son however loves the normal speed and the smooth acceleration while the speed is a bit lower.
The battery seems great with 20 miles range and a recharge time for a full battery of max of 6 hours. The battery indicator in the display while basic is great for fast reading.
I give an extra star for a couple of security elements that I personally appreciate and help my peace of mind with the kinddos. The brake handle reaction is awesome and reassuring (back braking is a bit less natural at the beginning). The lock to fold the scooter adds a safety ring that also needs to be turned eliminating the risk of the steering column being accidentally unlocked. I also love the addition of the ringing bell that in some areas is coming like a legal requirement to ride in the streets. Two LED lights: the one in the front can be manually activated, the one in the back activated when breaking are powerful to be seen during the nights.
Elements that take some stars from my review:
.- While the quick start guide is good. The book for security disclaimers is longer than the instructions.
.- This model only includes a three months guaranty that seems too small for a such big investment. Perhaps Bestbuy guarantee is an option here.
.- The manufacturer's website doesn’t have any major information about this model. The information available for previous models is quite useless and only for listing the specs. This is also a concern about the lifespan of the product.
.- I can not find any info about the protection and resistance for rain or wind: if there is a storm, better leave it at home?.
.- The maximum recommended weight is 220 pounds and for a max 15% inclines. If an adult is going to use it, keep in mind that with that weight it will go a little limited on the slopes.
.- The automatic mode allows you to maintain your hands off the throttle in long distances only stays for a minute.
.- No reports, data, or electronic security added here. This is a model that doesn’t require any app or software to be installed so no option to have such functionalities.
My final opinion, and why I would recommend its purchase, is that the great power and security elements make this a great option to start scooting, for kids or irregular commuting. Not so sure for adults' daily commute in different weathers or hilly cities.

This scooter is excellent quality. My son uses it to move around a college campus and he absolutely loves it. It folds so he can carry it to class and it does not take up much space in his dorm room.

Works great for the first week. After that, it no longer reaches the 18mph, it only goes about 15-16 mph. It randomly turns off and turns back on in the middle of a ride. The throttle broke and isn’t covered by their 90 day warranty . Absolute waste of money.

In different aspects, I am both extremely satisfied and moderately disappointed with the Hover-1 Blackhawk. This is my first electric scooter and it didn’t take more than a few minutes to feel comfortable riding at top speeds. With that said, there are 3 speed modes – 6MPH, 9MPH, and 18MPH. With a slight grade downhill, I went about 22MPH. Uphill, for a 155lb rider, went a consistent 9MPH. The ride quality is fantastic and super smooth with the 10 inch pneumatic tires. Breaking was efficient also. The promotional video I found on the internet mentions 3 braking options- disc, electronic, and rear fender foot pressure. However, with regards to the electronic braking, there is no button or switch to activate it or to tell if it is even included in this model.
Apparently, it should be able to go 22-28 miles before needing a recharge. I don’t have a need to go that far but I did some distance/battery tests. On one particular ride, I went 35 minutes for 4.25 miles on hilly roads while switching back and forth between the 9MPH and 18MPH speed settings. The battery indicator initially shows 5 full bars when it is 100% charged. I only lost a half of one bar. One key advantage that this scooter has over some others in this price range is the ability to pop out the battery and put a fresh one in if you need to go farther than the 28 miles advertised. I assume you could buy extra batteries from the manufacturer. I do not know if Best Buy sells them as standalone.
One disappointing aspect is the lack of an anti-theft feature, especially with the initial cost of the scooter. I would be hesitant to leave it outside of a store without worrying that someone can just roll or drive it away. Either an access code to turn it on or some kind of wheel locking feature would have been nice. The manual also didn’t explain a few things that a new rider wouldn’t know. My scooter had KPH defaulted as the speed setting. I contacted Hover-1 but never got a response on how to switch it MPH. Finally, after some internet searching, I found out how to get further into the internal menu to change some settings. For reference: hold power and menu button at the same time for 3 seconds or so. Besides setting MPH/KPH, you can also change how the scooter starts the motor- either with an immediate throttle toggle or the safer option of a push/kick off to start. There is also a setting in the internal menu to set disengage max speed if you have younger riders.
Overall, as I stated, there are both positive and negative features of the Blackhawk. Happily, I feel there are way more positives and I love this scooter. It is a great ride.
