I got this my 8 yr. He loved it! In fact my wife do ride on it sometimes; I have ridden on it couple times-I like the ease with which it handles-in terms of speed…no super great at going up the hill in my neighborhood but the speed is great on flat surface. The break system is really good. Overall its easy to handle. I’d recommend it

This thing will definitely make you feel like a kid again (if you aren’t already a a kid)
I am a 48 year old guy, about 220lbs and had my doubts that this little scooter would be able to propel me down the street with ease. Boy was I wrong!
Out of the box the scooter is pretty much fully assembled. All you have to do is attach the handlebars with the 4 provided screws. I recommend that you don’t use the provided allen wrench to attach these screws or you will be very frustrated for about 15 minutes. Do yourself a favor and get a drill bit and use a drill. Or at the very least a t-handle allen wrench for much easier turning!
The scooter seems extremely solid and even with me being a heavier adult I had no worries that it was going to fall apart or break on me. The handlebars do fold down for easy transportation and the locking mechanism to lock the bars upright is very sturdy. I have the same kind of latching system on my folding e-bike so I knew it was a strong latch.
Mine came pretty much fully charged right out of the box, but they do recommend fully charging it before use.
There really isn’t more to it than that. If you’ve ridden a manual scooter before, you shouldn’t have much of a problem riding this one. I have size 14 feet and I did find it a little hard to comfortably find a place for both feet on the deck, but I eventually found a position that works for me.
You have to get rolling first before the throttle will work. I found that it kicks in smoothly and isn’t very jarring at all. The brakes on the other hand take a little getting used to. I found that even a light press on the brakes stops it pretty quickly. If you aren’t ready for it, I could see someone falling off. So definitely go VERY easy on the brakes the first time you use it. Once you get used to it you know to lean back a little, so you aren’t propelled forward when the scooter stops.
They advertise a 16mph top speed. Even being 6’2” and 220lbs I was easily able to get the scooter up to 16mph on a flat road. Going up a hill is obviously going to be slower. But I did find that going up an incline of about 20-30 degrees I was still able to get it up to a respectable 10mph without any problems. I was amazed that this was able to get me up any kind of an incline at all. I thought for sure I would have to use manual foot power! There are 3 different levels of power Eco, D-Mid, and S-High. You’re capped at 8mph under eco mode, and 12mph in mid mode.
I believe the distance rating is also 16 miles. Obviously, that depends on your throttle usage, weight, and if you are on flat roads or going up hills. So I think that’s pretty hard to confirm or deny. But you should easily be able to get a good 10-12 miles out of it without any problems under normal use. More if you are lighter and on mostly flat roads and use the eco or mid mode. One thing to note is that there is no trip odometer or anything like that, so you really have no idea how far you have traveled. All you can see is the battery level. I started with the battery not quite at a full charge, but it was showing 5 bars when I turned it on. I used the GPS on my smartwatch to get the distance and I went 4.5 miles with An average speed of 10.8mph and still had 2 bars of battery life left. This was on the middle speed setting just going around my neighborhood which isn’t totally flat, so I was up and down 10-20 degree inclines a lot. It was also pretty windy so there was some resistance there as well. Im confident I could have gotten at least 2 more miles out of it before the battery died. Im sure that in ideal conditions on a flat road or trail on the same settings I could easily get 8-10 miles out of it. So it really does depend on the rider and the environment you are in.
I rode it on pavement, gravel, and some grass just to test the feel of it. I definitely would say to try and stick to pavement whenever possible. While it “will” move pretty well over grass and gravel, it is a bit unstable. Not to mention there is no suspension that I can see so it’s a bit of a bumpy ride if you go off-road.
The display is very easy to read. Theres a large mile per hour reading at the top and battery level on the bottom. In the middle there are small icons for the headlights and symbols to let you know what mode you are in. Its easy to switch between the different functions and turning the lights on with one simple button.
Apart from the stiff brakes (which will hopefully soften up over time), the only other complaint I have is that there is no way to disable the cruise control completely. Basically, if you’re going a certain speed for 6 seconds and you still have the throttle activated, it will beep and lock you into that speed and you don’t have to use the throttle anymore. I would much rather have the option to just control the throttle myself and not worry about it locking me into a speed. Especially in a urban environment with lots of cars and people around it would be very nice to have full control over your speed and not worry about a cruise control kicking in. There were many times I was going down the road and approaching a hazard I wanted to slow down for. I let off the throttle thinking that would slow it down, but the cruise was activated so it kept going at full speed. Then in a panic you must hit the brakes to stop, and it forces you to break harder than you normally would. Im hoping I get used to that more over time, but I think its kind of dangerous, especially for first time riders!
I also did a test at night as well. The lights on the deck and front are good for letting vehicles around you know you are there. I would recommend getting a brighter front light that’s aimed more at the road so you can easily see obstacles in front of you. I found the included light isn’t bright enough and is aimed a little high. It does illuminate everything around you and I was able to ride, but it wasn’t ideal. I think I will get one and mount it a little lower on the bar so it illuminates the road directly in front of me better.
Overall, this is a very solid scooter for teens and adults. Even old guys like me! I would highly recommend checking it out if you need something to just cruise around for a few miles on. It will definitely get the job done and you’ll have fun in the process. There's a bit of a learning curve to get comfortable on it, but you’ll be flying around in no time!

Best Budget eScooter with Performance and Features

For the first time ever, I rode an e-scooter and I COMPLETELY understand why these are a thing and developed a cult following! This thing can go pretty fast so be sure to follow your safety guidelines and wear a helmet. Now, save money on gas and rides while saving time looking cool and efficient while doing your part to save the Earth. I grew up using the Flintstone editions of scooters with rough rides on hard plastic wheels. I quickly took a liking to the experience after the first one-kick start and GO!
For sub $400, you get the ability to get around saving time and money and this is easily the best return on investment. Imagine not having to think and wait for parking. What if you put everything you bought in your backpack and with just a kick you're off? This scooter folds and fits inside a shopping cart so I take it with me and don't worry about locking anything up. This is exciting to me and I now volunteer to go to the store to get things like milk and bread HAHAHA! I get in and out faster than if I took my truck. I take this for quick shopping trips and am able to cut through places my car couldn't. When I get to the store I just fold up the scooter, throw it in the cart, do my shopping, put my things in my backpack, then unfold it and leave. I can truly say this was a really intuitive experience with a smooth ride on air-filled tires.
Everything came in a single box and was pretty much already assembled when I opened up the box, with the exception of the handle. Be sure to take time to read the instructions (which you should ALWAYS do) as it covers the limitations of this tech. For background, I'm 5'7", 160lbs to give you an idea of the rider part of the variables. I fit fine, and everything was where I would expect it around hip height. Weight is everything as this one has a limitation when motors and batteries are involved, so your mileage will vary. Your range and performance are directly tied to weight and incline. I didn't have any issues powering around my neighborhood which is a nice collection of rolling slopes and paved trails and hills. Battery life for me lasts roughly one week because I have 3-4mi trips and don't charge it every day. Per instructions, leave this charging for at least 5 hrs. or until you see the green light on the charger. You just need to install the handle with 4 screws and lock the folding hinge, and you are all set. Press the power button and it will beep letting you know it is on and display a battery gauge and a display with your odometer.
The included tire pump is a nice gesture but did they test if it works with the tires? The rear tire is impossible to fill with the straight nozzle used. 90-degreeee bike pump style is more useful here, Hover-1 design team. It is well noticed that Hover-1 thought long and hard about safety for night riding. The Jive has an LED headlight, RGB lighting, a rear brake light, and reflectors to make sure you are seen from all angles. The tires are an integral part of the smooth ride and take a max of 50psi to maintain optimal rolling. The brakes work well and bite much like a disc brake system on a mountain bike. The best way to describe this experience is a cross between a scooter and a bike. You feel the grind and pressure of the brakes so I was able to adapt quickly. Rear braking allows you to stay grounded and centered without being thrown forward. I would have liked to see a pair of replacement brakes included, but I don't even know where to start with that. How do we get more brake pads?
In short, there is a lot to like and many reasons to pony up the cash for this. There are a few things I didn't like but it seems to be the standard for scooters. The display isn't bright, and you CAN NOT see it in daylight. The clip that holds the handle to the rear wheel should be made of higher quality plastic or metal at the very least. The rear wheel cover is plastic and flimsy, with distortion occurring from the constant pull of the handle. The tire pump included should be useful with a 90° clamping valve seen on bike pumps. The pump is really cheap plastic but again, this is just a nice to have and they didn't really need to include it. I would like to see a read out with a percentage rather than a bar or even the possible remaining range. Maybe see a stop watch and trip details. Include a water bottle holder or the option to buy one as we need a place to hold our water on these hot days. An app would be cool too with tracking info or alerts linked to Bluetooth to let you know your scooter is missing. This is an excellent overall value to performance in one package.
VERDICT is BUY BUY BUY!!!!!! I actually want to buy a higher-performance FASTER version now. This could be the start of a new spending habit :/

I’ve used quite a few electric scooters and I’m blown away by the quality and price of the Jive. I’ve used electric scooters for a few years for the first and last mile to our subway system. The Jive is not only faster but the battery lasts longer too. It also has the bright headlights and stepping deck integrated
As for the scooter itself it does well with j flat surfaces but going up 30’ inclines had some issues and I am around 180lbs. Otherwise the 300w motor performed great. The brake is impressive as it’s a real disc brake.
The tires recommend 50psi cold and I used my Dewalt inflator and it works great.
Overall the instructions are basic and this scooter is amazing for the price.
Make sure to read the instructions
Check your tire pressure
The engine will not run unless you kick start 1.8mph
The battery takes awhile to charge but it is very portable so you can take it with you to charge in th office.
Scooter feels solid and the folding feature is nice. Doesn’t roll that well but it will save some space k the subway.

A Fun Scooter to Ride

The Hover-1 Jive electric scooter is a fun little ride. The scooter is surprisingly fast and gets up to 15mph, which when actually riding feels alot faster than you'd think. It is also a great night ride since its has a front led light and the footboard lights up into one of four different colors (red, blue, green, violet). The battery life is pretty good lasting up to 16miles before needing to be charged, so you'll be zooming around for quite sometime before needing to charge. Setting it up is very easy and all the tools needed are included inside the box as well as the charger. The only complaints I have are that it didn't come with an instruction manual and it has a wimpy little bell. If you've never used one of these things before not having a manual makes it annoying to try and figure out, and I had to download a pdf version from the website. The scooter has a little bell, which feels out of place on an electric scooter, I would've preferred a horn or something else that makes an actual sound. I've never used one of these things before and was a little hesitant about learning how to get it going and ride, but I found it was pretty easy and fun to get around on. Its got some nice speed, is fairly easy to learn to ride, and looks cool.

This scooter came with the back tire defected . The air came out the minute i stepped onto it. Wen I grabbed the air pump it came with and tried to use it , it was badly rusty inside and a lot of rust debris fell off of it when I tried to use it so the scooter has been sitting there looking lame . I had gotten this for my birthday

Light and fun electric scooter

>> Overview
The Hover-1 Jive Electric Folding Scooter has been a blast to ride. It is easy to transport, if taking it to the park or climbing up stairs, for example. It has a decent battery life and top speeds seem suitable for a scooter this size. There are three speed modes, with the lowest being the ECO mode, which at 8mph max speed, fits most purposes. The ride is a little bumpy on uneven surfaces since it doesn’t really have shock absorbers and the wheels are not as big as other scooters you see on the streets, but you can overcome this by paying more attention to the road/walkway and work on avoiding potential obstacles/bumps. It works best on flat surfaces and surfaces with not too much slope.
Overall, based on my experience, I don’t think this scooter’s main purpose is for commuting, I think its primary use is for having fun riding around the neighborhood or parks or the city over paved or cement roads/walkways. Security is first, so don’t forget to properly wear your helmet while riding the Hover-1 Jive.
- Pros: light, solid, foldable, easy to transport, good speeds, fun to ride.
- Cons: somewhat small wheels, no shock absorber system, slow charging
>> Assembly and first use
Assembly was easy, just follow the instructions and recommendations in the attached booklet/manual. Here are some highlights on the assembly:
- Placing the cables when attaching the handle: it is best to place a portion of the cables in the upper portion of the tube that is part of the handlebar, then it’ll be easier to insert the rest of the cable in the lower section that goes to the actual frame. Otherwise, good luck with trying to fit all the cables inside the thin tube.
- Tires and air: the tires come inflated; however, it felt like the front one was overinflated while the rear one seemed to lack some air. So, I had to deflate the front one and struggled a little to inflate the rear one. The air pump that comes with this device, doesn’t seem suitable to inflate the rear tire, it is hard to insert the probe to the tire. There is no indicator on how much air to put in the tires, well, I guess it is a trial-and-error approach.
- Before using, complete charging took a few hours (and still takes a long time to fully charge the scooter.)
It took some time to get used to applying the throttle and applying the brakes to get a more or less smooth ride. Don’t forget to read the manual/booklet that come, they state primarily what NOT TO DO, and that is important for devices like this.
>> Speeds
Look at the manual attached to find how to switch from ECO mode to D (medium) and S (high speed.) I didn’t read that part of the manual, and of course, it would have been very difficult to know that after turning on the scooter, pressing the power button twice would change the speed mode.
ECO mode at its top 8mph is suitable for enjoying a not too fast ride and to me is my favorite. I found that the D medium mode, with its 12mph top speed, to be more appropriate and safer when going some long distances (to the office for example). High speed S mode, which is up to 14mph, would be more appropriate if riding on very flat straight-line areas.
>> Riding to work
I decided to take a trip to my work office which is located a few miles from home in the Pacific Northwest area. This is when I realized some of the shortcomings of this otherwise beautiful scooter when related to commuting. The lack of a shock absorber system came evident when riding on the sidewalks with some uneven sections, you could feel the impact on the edges of the cement blocks, not a so pleasant experience. This, tied to the fact that the tires are not that big, caused a very bumpy ride around some areas.
The brake system could be a little better in my opinion, a little softer and not sudden. I guess I can adjust that myself, but from an out of the box experience I would have expected for it to be calibrated better.
It is definitely not meant to be used in steep hills or roads (it is even mentioned in the manual). Going up, the scooter would just stop, and you’d need to push it (I had to do it a few times during my home-to-work ride), and when going down, the brakes might not be sufficient, and you’d end up walking along your scooter as a safety procedure.
Finally, as I was thinking about commuting to work a few times a month on this device, the long rainy season in the Pacific Northwest came to realization; hence, I am planning on using it more frequently while the weather allows it.
>> Having fun
Riding around at night/evenings is a blast with the different color lights this device has. Going to parks and for example walk (or “jog”) your dog is just perfect with this device, you can ride until you exhaust the battery and still have energy to do other activities. One might not be enough for your family, so better get a couple to enjoy a good ride.

Hover-1 - Jive Electric Folding Scooter with 16 mi Max Opera
Summary:
Great compact scooter with a decent range and expected features.
Pros:
* Compact. Looks like they didn't waste space or weight with anything you don't need.
* Decent specs. Maximum range of 15 miles and a top speed of 15 mph is surprising. I'm not sure if this is inline for the price point, however.
* Svelte. This looks clean and attractive (I have the black model).
* LED lighting/headlamp. The LED footboard is neat, and they make you more visible in the evenings. The headlight is cute and functional.
* Good brakes. The brakes are great. I forgot to use them when learning to ride the scooter - mistake... you don't come to a stop so easily with your feet - and you're more likely to get hurt.
* Display panel. The power button and display panel show what it needs to and the power button is used to cycle between modes.
* Included bell. Its trivial, but useful. Brrring your way as you roll up near someone with ease.
Cons:
* Assembly. It wasn't hard to assemble (i.e., it is intuitive), but I had some trouble with the screws at the top where the handles meet the column. I feel like the handles aren't super tight, but I can't tighten them further without fear of stripping the screws.
* Charging cable. Why proprietary cables? This brick/cable look flimsy. The charging port isn't easily accessible. Why not put the port at the handlebars? Why not use USB-C? Or magnetic cable (Mag Safe type)? I feel this is the weakest point of the unit and the port or the cables are likely to wear out before the scooter.
* Power button. I already see the paint from the On/Off pictogram rubbing off. I hope that is all that wears out so soon.
Use:
We take this thing for little joy rides around the neighborhood. We also use to give our corgi some exercise when we're not in the mood for a run/jog. He runs right alongside and sticks close. For 400$, I'm not sure if I wanted/expected more, but I feel like this is worth the money.

So my 9 year old daughter has been riding her e scooter that she has had for about 3 years when she was about 6 inches shorter and about 30 pounds lighter lol. She is a tall girl. That scooter kinda worked. But I considered that thing a toy, which is was compared this is e scooter. She’s been wanting a better brand and a real electric scooter with RGB lights as well. And boy is she happy with this hover-1 e scooter. Way faster and way more sturdy with even brighter lights. She loves the style and color scheme. Although she is a bit of a neat freak so since the foot part is white she has to clean it off after every ride. It does get really dirty. But the RGB lights are brighter because of the plate. Makes sense. This thing rides smooth while I was testing it tires are stiff and sturdy. Should last years. Tho I have to be honest, the max weight is listed at about 260lbs. I’m 220 5’11” and I can feel the motor struggling while going uphill. I would say to be safe keep the riders weight at or below 200 and you will have plenty speed and a fun ride. Do you want an adult Escooter. Hover-1 makes better scooter with better weight limits albeit at a higher price but worth it.
This thing is really fun! If I didn’t weigh as much I’d ride it more often. But I have an electric bike so we can ride as a family.
The breaks are amazing on this thing. Better than my more expensive ebike. Smooth take off and stopping. LCD screen has speedometer and modes plus control for the different colors plus the built in led headlights. That’s a great feature to have. Not just so you can see but moreso for people to see you if you like riding at night(she like night rides). Red “stop” light on back helps as well. Safety is very important as people do tend to drive crazy nowadays. Even in my suburban neighborhood. So great job to hover-1 for being thoughtful and including the features. Not all companies do.
All in all this escooter is great for younger kids and smaller adults. It is meant to do one job and that is to provide happiness to riders everywhere. And it does that very well. I don’t see any issues other than maybe the foot part doesn’t glow all RGB colors at once. That is more a dad issue and not a daughter issue. She loves it and me and my wife feel it is very safe, looks good/rides good and makes her happy. So we are intern happy parents. I’d say definitely give this model a try. I’m almost certain y’all will love it too. It is reasonably priced too for the quality and specs you get! Happy riding and please wear helmets at the very least. Safety first!

The Hover-1 Jive is an excellent electric scooter which is a blast to ride, elevates cruising to a new dimension. Amazingly easy to ride, first thought it would take a few practice runs to get my groove, not happening, gave one push with my foot, pressed the throttle and was on the go.
First impression of the Jive scooter was quality of build, materials, design, solid feel, and overall, the scooter looks great. Review products often and not often do I get excited, well the Jive is an exception.
Scooter is ridden almost daily even if just along our 100-yard drive, through the yard or along the sidewalk. The one common denominator, we enjoy the ride.
Surprised how quickly my wife mastered riding, and my son in just few days is into trick riding and discovering the fun avenues of the scooter’s capabilities.
OK, enough of the fun stuff:
Included in the box is the partially disassembled scooter, charging cable, air pump, instructions, 2 Allen wrenches and bolts. Assembly is simple. 4 hex key bolts to attach the handlebar and you’re ready to go.
With a top speed of 16 mph, Electric motor delivers instantaneous effortless acceleration.
Bright, LED headlight and brake light, and illuminated Deck/footpad makes this product safe to ride at night. Footpad has multiple solid colors to choose from. The front and rear LED lights are “BRIGHT” and visible from a long distance.
The LED lit Deck is much like any skateboard, has superb grip for your feet and with Color Lit LED Deck you are highly visible at night. First noticed when my son was driving away at night that the Deck lights lit up his back and arms, was like a large, illuminated sign, that I appreciate as I know we are visible. Deck LEDs color can be changed from the console on the handlebars easily.
LCD displays speed, battery level, mode, light indicator, and errors. Battery level is displayed out of 5 bars. After prolonged, intense use in the “speed” mode, the scooter has displayed a red error with red temperature and service warnings. Restarting the scooter after letting it cool down resolved this issue.
There are three power modes, “Eco” mode limits the top speed to 8mph. “Drive” to 12 mph. And “Speed” to its full 16 mph. Each power range is simply selected on the console.
8.5” tires, a durable frame, and 300-watt motor allow this scooter to support 264lbs at 15 degrees of incline. Personally, I can accelerate up much steeper inclines.
16-mile maximum range.
Scooter soars effortlessly across asphalt, gravel, and even across our yard.
A great bonus is with the scooter folded up will fit in the trunk of my Mustang GT or in rear of Honda CR-V for hauling to more fun avenues. Or store easily in a university dorm room, which I believe that is where it is destined.
Great fun and a solid ride.

I currently own a Razor E300 and have been looking to upgrade to the consistent power offered by lithium batteries. I have been looking for a scooter fast enough for an adult, but can be used by my kids too. This Hover-1 Jive seemed to be a good fit.
Getting this scooter ready was simple enough, but I had a little difficulty using the included allen wrench to install the 4 included screws. I would recommend partially installing each screw before tightening to make this process easier. It was nice that Hover-1 includes an air pump, but since it did not have a pressure gauge, I decided to use one which did. After charging the scooter overnight, it was ready to hit the road.
I was happy to see this scooter had 3 selectable speed settings to lower the max speed for my kids. The max speed is 16mph under sport mode. It was nice to have a reliable disk brake system and the cruise control makes the ride very enjoyable.
My kids were excited to change the board the color of their choice. At first, I though this feature was a gimmick, but in the evening the extra light on the board, with addition to the built-in headlight, makes it easy to be seen.
The only two negative things I could think of about this scooter is that the lithium batteries are not easily removable and you must kick off before the throttle engages the motor.
Pros
3 speed settings
Lithium power
Highly visible at night
Disk brakes
Cons
Non-removable battery
Must kick off before motor engages
This scooter is a must for anyone looking for an affordable, safe, and fun ride. I would highly recommend it.

Never owned an electric scooter before, so this was a trip into the unknown, and what a fun trip it is! Initially thought my son would be all over this, an exciting, fun, escape for him, but turns out, it's us, the parents who are using it the most! It's a blast! We've used it almost every night since it arrived, full LED lights on, looking like clowns with the biggest smiles on our faces!
The scooter is really easy to pick up and use, once you've read the instructions. I charged it as soon as it arrived, it had 4 bars of power showing, but wanted to get the full five. Total charge time is around 5 hours for the 6.0 Ah Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery. Once charged, I gingerly set about testing it out. Instructions recommend manually scooting around for a bit to get used to the weight, the steering, the balance fo the scooter.
Once you've mastered that (in the first 5 mins) you then want to go for a rip! Powering on (press the power button for 2 seconds), there's a loud beep - it would be nice to adjust the volume of that, but it's there for a reason. You can change the color of the board, I believe it's 7 different colors by pressing the power button one time, off, one time on (new color). One time off, one time on (new color) etc, to cycle through the colors. When the deck is lit up, the headlight is on as well, along with the rear light. When you pull the brake lever, the rear light flashes as a brake light.
There is a thumb throttle on the right hand handle, which is very nicely placed, easy to use, and very responsive. On the right side is a clip - at first I thought it was a phone holder clip, the instructions actually say 'power clip' but it's actually the retaining clip, when you fold the scooter down. It clips into the rear mud guard and created a 'carry handle' for the scooter. Nice design.
When you go to set off, if you double press the power button, you can toggle between 3 power modes, ECO mode, which limits you to around 8mph, D (drive) mode which limits you to around 12mph and S (sport) mode, which maxes out at 16mph allegedly. I've scooted around in all 3 modes, ECO and D are spot on - as for S mode - I can't get the scooter to go above 14mph - even tho the box and manual state it will go 16mph. Now it could be because I'm 210lbs, (the scooter is rated for 264lbs), maybe I need to adjust the air pressures in the tires, but no matter what I did, downhill, on flat land, I couldn't get above 14mph.
The LED digital display is very clear, especially at night, showing your speed, your mode, how much battery life is left, and if your headlights are on. There are also a couple of warning lights, but hopefully we won't see them! The scooter also has cruise control, if you hold the throttle open for 6 seconds, it puts you in cruise mode. Pressing the brake lever, or releasing the throttle turns it off. The cruise is great, but if you are trying to accelerate, and get past that 14mph, you are holding the throttle for more than 6 seconds, so the cruise kicks in, and I don't know if that is limiting the top speed either. Anyways, the cruise control works really well, means you can relax and enjoy the ride. The scooter is rated to travel 16 miles between charges. I don't know if that is a little ambitious based on our usage. We did a lot of stop start runs, test runs, and power runs, and saw the battery go down to 3 bars, and then down to 2 bars within 45 mins of using it... and am pretty sure we didn't make it anywhere near 16 miles.
The ride is smooth, thanks to the 8.5" air filled tires, and the included pump means that you can keep on top of them. On flat surfaces it's great, accelerates nicely and smoothly. Small step-ups to curbs etc, require you to lift up on the front end as you go over them to get into a driveway etc. The user manual warns you of going over objects more than 1/2" tall, for fear of pitching the scooter sideways. Our driveway also has a 7º incline, and the scooter does struggle to get up it, without a long run up.
There's a kick stand on the left side of the scooter that works really well on both hard surfaces and carpet.
As mentioned, charging the scooter takes about 5 hours, using the included charging 'brick' with a plug that goes into the scooter on the front left side, and the other end plugs directly into the wall. Charging status is shown on the scooter, as well as a red light while charging on the brick and a green light on the brick when fully charged.
One down side we noticed is this: The step of the scooter is white. It is incredibly grippy. When you step on the scooter, dirt and debris gets onto the rough surface of the scooter and doesn't look great, being as it's white. And you can't clean it with a cloth, due to its rough surface. I ended up using foaming soap, a spray bottle of water and an old toothbrush to clean it. That worked really well, and then could only dab the surface with a paper towel, I couldn't wipe it. That's the only downside I've found so far.
Overall, really happy with the scooter, it's incredibly fun, it's getting us out and about, even in this brutal Texas heat to have a little fun, and bonding our family. I can honestly see us purchasing at least another one of these to go on little jaunts together!

Summary:
Loads of fun to take around town. A practical ride that is convenient for storage. Easy to learn to use as well as a conversation starter.
Pros:
-Fun styling
-Fast
-Small learning curve
-Adequate range
-Durable
Cons:
-Not very good in non-electric mode
-Bulky
-Slow charging time
Unboxing / assembly:
There is minor assembly required. Upon unboxing, you will attach the handle to the base and screw in four screws with the included wrench. The unit comes in the collapsed position so you will need to open it. Last, the instructions recommend a change of five hours initially.
First use:
I have never used an e-scooter prior to this so there was a small learning curve. To activate the motor, you will need to get the scooter rolling using your own power initially with a strong kick. I noticed it takes a decent amount of effort to get it rolling initially and I would not recommend it for non-electric use as it takes a decent amount of effort to keep motion using your own power. Once you hit the throttle the initial kick feels powerful and startling. I found it is easier to just go straight to 100% throttle from the kick then to slowly throttle up. This will require you to adjust your speed settings (more later). After a little practice I was zipping around the neighborhood.
Daily use:
I mainly use this to do nearby chores such as pick up milk at the market, grab a snack somewhere, go get a coffee or simply go for a ride. If I lived in a more urban setting, I can see this being very handy to get around. It is overall fast, gets good range (15 miles or so) before needing a charge.
Using it takes a bit of learning. The power button does a lot. A double tap changes the speed setting (eco, low and high). Pressing it once changes the color of the board / turns on the safety lights. The unit weighs about 26 pounds so it isn't necessarily hard to transport such as if you need to get on a bus but be aware it isn't exactly featherweight either.
I found turns are overall wide so it sometimes made sense to turn off the throttle when doing a sharp turn. As mentioned earlier, the device has a lot of resistance when using foot power to push and not using the motor. It is clearly designed to use the motor as the primary method of locomotion.
The unit also comes with a pump which is a nice convenience. It is small and can be packed if needed but I would overall leave it in the garage.
Charging:
The power adaptor outputs at 63W and uses a 1-pin plug on the left side of the device. The display has a charging status when powered on, but the charge time takes about five hours so ensure you plug it in at night if you use it daily.
This is an outstanding entry level e-scooter that is high build quality and practical for short range trips.

Nice scooter for teens and adults

This is a really nice scooter by a well known brand. It says it can hold up to 265 lbs which is great since I am a larger guy and it can support my weight with enough extra that I can put my smaller kids on with me to give them a small ride up and down the street.
I haven’t run it until dead yet, but I haven’t needed to take it too far either. So far I’ve been pretty happy with the batter life and it charges in around 4-5 hours so even if I forget to charge it overnight, it can get a decent charge in a few hours before I need it.
The lights are nice when it starts to get dark, but I also like that they aren’t on all the time so in the day we aren’t wasting power when we can see fine anyway. I’m torn on the deck light. I like that the deck light makes the rider more visible so that my teenager can use it at night and I don’t have to worry as much about a car not seeing them. Everything works fine with the deck light in marginally lit areas, but if you cross into a bit darker areas, the deck light can almost blind you and make it hard to see. I do wish in the rotation of colors you could get the headlight with the deck off.
The speed is good, although the accelerator sometimes feels a bit jerky. I’m guessing that’s just experience, like a stick shift in a new car, I’ll get used to it. The break is also really sensitive and it surprised me how quickly it stopped the scooter.
The cruise control is an interesting feature. It kicks in a lot, but I seem to turn it off almost as soon as it starts. I don’t have that many straight a ways in our neighborhood so maybe this is better for people who go longer distances on bigger roads.
It has multiple modes which control speed to affect battery life. Its good in theory, but the method for switching modes isn’t great and I did get it eventually, but it took a few tries and was a bit frustrating. I did notice that my teen could get it almost up to its full speed on the highest speed mode, but it struggled a bit with me. I’m not sure if I ever did get to the rated top speed. While it can go fairly fast, it doesn’t have much acceleration, so it takes a bit to get there if you’re heavier like me. I’m not sure it even can get to its full speed trying to pull my weight if there is a slight incline. On a steeper incline I actually struggled with it trying to go up at all. Maybe if I had gotten a running start it would have done better, but I wasn’t going too fast before the hill and it just slowed down and stopped altogether.
I also love that it folds down so if my teen takes it to a friends, but I need to pick them up, we can put it in the trunk of the car really easily.
The one thing I hate are the tires. Specifically the valves to inflate them. I don’t know what the designers were thinking, but there is a cover on the front wheel where you would see spokes on a bike tire that covers so much of the valve that you can’t get a traditional bike pump to attach to it. The pump the give you has a weird screw on valve which works with the front tire, but it takes so long to screw/unscrew it that you are letting out a ridiculous amount of air as you detach the pump. I basically have to way overfill the tire so that when I finally get the pump detached it will be at the right pressure level.
The back tire is different. It has a longer valve, so I can use a traditional pump, but the mechanism that drives the wheel gets in the way so that there is not enough space between the valve and the other parts of the scooter to use the pump they give you. This means I need two different pumps to top up the pressure in the tires, and the pump provided doesn’t even work with one of the tires. For me this is irritating but doesn’t ultimately matter since I have a normal pump for my bikes so whatever, but if you don’t have any other pump and are counting on the included one, you’ll be disappointed.
Overall this is a great fun scooter for getting around the neighbor hood or for a teen that you don’t want to get a car yet.

Ive recently gained more and more interest in the E-Scoot/ E-Bike craze thats going on and I know now why its so popular. For some its a cheap way to get to work, for others another form of recreation. And the latter is what I use mine for. Im not exactly a small guy. I weigh 240+ so I have to always consider that when shopping, and thankfully this fits that perfectly. Capable of supporting up to 265lbs allows me to know Im not terribly overtaxing the motor. But of course weight affects speed so this for me is a bit of motivation to lose some weight. Ill go faster. But its no slouch. Rated at up to 15 it takes awhile but I do eventually get there. But one thing I have noticed with all these E-vehicles, the MPH on the display is usually 2-3mph faster than its actually going. Either way its fast enough! It does struggle a bit on inclines but unless your willing to spend more most of these in this price range have that issue as well. It is rated up to 16 miles of range, so it would work on a very short local commute. But I usually start to think about heading home at around mile 8 or so because you always have to be planning that range as including your trip home unless you want to carry or roll it. But thankfully it folds up very nice and is very light at about 26lbs. But even at that weight you would be getting pretty tired carrying it after awhile.
The build quality is great and solid. When something is cheap you really feel it when you hit bumps, etc. and with this I can tell it has a solid build and design. I like the simplicity of the display as well. You get just enough info without everything being cluttered. Great design. The initial set up is a great way to also understand your folding mechanisms. Following the well laid out instructions and you can be up and riding in about 15 minutes. Probably less, but I like to check nuts and bolts, tires, etc. before I risk jumping on anything. And with this I had no loose nuts or bolts, or other issues that might affect things as far as safety goes. The initial charge can take up to several hours depending on what the battery level is at when you get it. But after charging, assembling everything it was ready to go.
As far as features it goes it has an LED display, head and tail lights, really cool and bright deck lighting, and cruise control. One thing I wish it had was the option to turn off the kick start feature. I know this is a safety feature and I think thats perfect for beginners. But it would be nice if there was a way to have “throttle start”. But thats a minor thing. The other features more than make up for that.
Overall I would say if you are in the market for a good sub $500 scooter with just enough speed and range, safety features, etc. this should fit the bill. Like I said in the title. You get plenty scoot for your loot.

I was optimistic about this scooter since it is one of the cheaper options at Best Buy, but still listed decent specs for the price category. Now having owned it for a month, this purchase was a mistake.
When I took it out of the box I noticed the scooter had several large scratches on the handlebar pole and a black mark on the foot deck. Not a super big deal by itself, but coming with cosmetic issues out the box is quite disappointing and concerning.
During the first few days of ownership I noticed several things that concerned me. The breaks squealed every time they were applied, though they did stop well.
This scooter doesn't seem to be matching the specs advertised either for power or speed. I took 4.4 mile round trips after leaving with a full charge and my scooter indicated only one bar of charge left on the screen about halfway on the return trip. It seems that I can only achieve 16 MPH on downhill slopes. Additionally, it cannot handle even the slightest inclines. I tried to go up some inclines that the scooter should have been able to do based on the rated 15 degree limit and the scooter could not go faster than walking speed (~3-5 MPH) and on one occasion the scooter shut off with Error E1 (motor hall failure). For all the inclines on my commute I have to either walk it, or shift my weight and kick the ground like a traditional scooter with full throttle to pick up speed. For context I weigh 173 pounds, well within the weight advertised even with my 5 pound backpack on.
If you weigh more than 170 pounds, do not even consider this scooter for anything that is not exclusively flat terrain.
Just after roughly 1.5 weeks of use, the rear tire suddenly deflated while in storage overnight. I used the included air pump to attempt to inflate the tire, but air was leaking out from somewhere. The tire has no punctures, damage, or even really significant wear (since it had only been in operation for about 9 days), so I did the water and soap test to determine where the air is leaking from. After inspecting the whole tire, the air is coming from what seems to be a defective valve stem near the base of it.
I've submitted a support ticket on the manufacturer's website, but they have yet to help me. They have told me to take it back to Best Buy, but Best Buy's new shortened return window has already passed, and they will not accept it. They do have a one year warranty on the Jive scooter, but they have yet to honor it.
They told me initially since tires are not covered by the warranty that I have to buy parts on their website and they will not repair or replace it. Here's the critical thing though: their website does not have any parts available for purchase except for replacement chargers.
If you decide to purchase this scooter keep in mind that if **anything** goes wrong with it or if you need any kind of replacement part that is not a charger you will not be able to purchase it from the manufacturer.
I am still waiting to hear back from the manufacturer via email; I will update this review accordingly if they honor their warranty and/or resolve the issues.
So far, this is not a quality product, or company, and should not be purchased. Don't believe all of the positive reviews like I did, since all of the positive reviews received the scooter for free in exchange for reviewing it.

I have never owned an electric scooter before, but I do own an electric car so I am a fan of the zoom-zoominess of electric vehicles. That being said, I was unprepared for how zoomie these things can be. But I was right in that it would be fun, almost TOO much fun. I mean, I can see myself riding this thing without a care and the wind in my hair and then suddenly realizing I have one bar of battery and I am 15 miles from home!
BTW, the Jive may look like it is for kids, but trust me, I wouldn't put anyone younger than maybe 12-13 on this. 14 mph may not seem like much, but I hit it as a full-grown adult male and even I was a bit unnerved by the pavement swishing by. Wear your safety gear folks, or keep it in the Eco mode!
Set-Up Experience: Upon opening the box, the Jive was super easy to set up. Unfold, stuff the loose cabling for the light/speedometer, either down or up into the tubing and insert/tighten four bolts. The tires were fully inflated, the battery was at like 60% and I was able to zip out of my driveway within maybe 10 minutes of opening the box (and most of that was looking for the Allen wrench bit for my screwdriver because I hate using the little basic ones they give you in the pack).
Riding Experience: Riding on the Hover-1 Jive is easy, just a kickstart to go (or better yet, a driveway to roll down), hit the throttle and go! Eco mode limited me to 8mph, while D was about 11/12, and S got me to the rated 14mph that it says is the max. I wish the drive mode button was it's own standalone button, because I can see having a bit of a problem while driving and trying to hit the power/mode/light button correctly. Actually, I'd like to see a power, mode, AND light button available just so I could focus more on riding and less on getting the button presses right.
Acceleration is smooth and I like the 'cruise control' of holding down the throttle at max for a few seconds until it beeps. I recommend turning off the cruise control by pushing down on the throttle button vs. using the brakes though. The brake can be really touchy and I can see someone flying over the handlebars by slamming that thing on. Better to use the motor to slow you down, and then maybe your feet.
Overall Impression: This thing is fun! Where I live, I have my dentist, doctor, and a few other places I go on a regular basis all within like 3-4 miles. I may not even bother with my car for my dentist appointment next month, I'll just take the scooter! For the price-point, you get a well built scooter (as far as I can tell so far), that is super zippy, and a lot of fun to ride. If you don't have safety gear, I would seriously consider getting some if you plan on operating this thing anywhere above the Eco mode, and even then it is still probably a good idea.
I'm almost 50 years old and when I fired up the Jive I was grinning from ear to ear like when I got my first real bike as a kid. I gotta be sure not to let my wife ride it or else I may have to get her one too!

Very impressed!
Setup is super simple. One thing I struggled with setup is the front screws for the handle bar - the driver provided for this purpose was difficult to use due to the cables that block the screws. This can be improved. Package comes with air pump.
Scooter was already fully charged when arrived. I read the quick user guide to understand different speed modes. Powered on, turned on lights and I took it for a spin. I weight 230lbs and I was Very impressed with the smoothness of the ride. The breaks were very firm.
While riding on a uphill - not too much of a slope though, I did see Jive struggling to accelerate. In flat surfaces, jive performs really well. Cruise control option turns on automatically after 10 seconds. 3 speed modes are very useful.
Battery takes about 4 hours to get charged fully. On full battery and economy mode, the charge lasts for about 14 miles. On S mode, charge last for about 10 miles (with a combination of uphill and flat roads). I haven’t really used the D mode. Jive folds up really easily and very easy to carry. It is not too heavy for a normal person.
Overall, this is an amazing product from Hover for this price range.
