Customers are saying

Customers commend the Ranger Pro Electric Self-Balancing Scooter for its durability, substantial weight capacity, and fun Bluetooth speaker feature with integrated lights. However, some users express concerns regarding the scooter's battery life and the ease with which certain components may detach. The brevity of the warranty period is also a point of customer dissatisfaction. Overall, the positive feedback on the scooter's core features outweighs the negative comments on its less durable aspects.

very poor i dont know? there is any mistake in software or battery or something. Suddenly the hover board stops, no warning like battery low recharge nothin. Basically it needs to warn recharge - battery level low in an Hoverboard this model didnt. when i start it will show lights fully no stepping down indication of battery. i am above to fall down twice because of that, suddenly the battery dead no self balance mechanism works and u fall down or jump safely without falling in ground. i got in a bestbuy deal $80, that's the only reason i keep it. For full price not worth and life risk involved. i usually not review product since its too risk for kids, i want to write a review so that the company looks into the problem.

The first unit did not turn on. The second one works fine for a little over two month and stopped charging. When I check the warranty, it is only 90 DAY LIMITED WARRANTY! Bestbuy website has Q&A on the warranty and somebody answered 1 year which is misleading. The Hover answer did not specify the length of warranty, instead posted a link to their website. You can find better ways to spend your money!

It was great in the beginning, lots of fun. Then 31 days later (1 day after i could return it for full refund), it decides to malfunction and gets stuck in max speed while im holding it trying to turn it off. It mimicked a chainsaw, super concerned about the safety especially since my kids saw the whole thing. Now they shy away from hoverboards after loving it at first. I hope this was just me and no one else was traumatized by this.

Really great hoverboard. App needs some work

The Hover-1 Ranger Pro Hoverboard is a feature-packed and fun device, which takes a little getting used to. First of all, for a little context, this was my first experience with a hover board. That being said, overall, I have had a lot of fun with it. To start, it come well packed and includes the charging cable and instructions. Being my first time, I went ahead and read the entire instruction booklet, which includes so much safety information, it’s almost a little intimidating. Setting it up is pretty straightforward, although I guess this is still such a new model that it’s not in the app yet. That doesn’t stop you from setting it up though, you can still go to your phone’s bluetooth settings and connect it manually. Now that I had it all connected and charged up, I was ready to step on for my first time. This is where it takes some practice. My first ride was definitely nerve wracking. There’s not much to say about it really that isn’t already covered in the instruction manual. The more you ride, the more confident you will get on it. So some of the features it has are connected to the app. One of these is the lights. You can turn them on/off and select the color in the app. Another feature is a speedometer. This is pretty cool just to see how fast you are going. Although, it’s not the safest thing to be checking your phone while riding, so I’m not so sure it was the smartest thing to include. The app also can track your path using your phone’s GPS. Although this is not automatic. You have to manually start tracking. One thing that is automatic is the odometer feature. It will tell you how far you’ve ridden on this trip and over the life of the unit. Although, I think the app is currently reporting these backwards. Onething I don’t like about the app is that once you turn the unit off, the app no longer gives you any of this info. For things like current speed, this makes sense. But if I want to check out previous rides or odometer readings, it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense that I need to have the unit powered on. I’d much rather it actually store all historical info on the phone itself rather than rely on having the unit powered on. You can also use the unit as a bluetooth speaker. This is actually a pretty fun little feature. The weird thing is that it is a separate bluetooth connection than the connection used for the app. So you have to go set it up separately. But once you do it once, it’s automatic every time after. One thing that is included on the hoverboard is spinner wheels. I have no idea why they included these. They look really silly, and are spinners even a thing anymore, especially among younger users? I wish they would’ve left these off. Now, on to the actual performance of the thing. The Best Buy description says it can go 7mph and up to 7 miles range. However, in the documentation that came with the hoverboard, it says 9mph and 8 mile range. I was never able to get it up to 9mph, but that was more because I wasn’t comfortable going that fast. The fastest I ever got it up to was a little over 7mph before I had to back off. I fully believe it will go 9mph. Now, the range I think is something that they definitely take liberties with. I believe that 8 mile range is if you are a really light rider, and you ride on perfectly flat, smooth terrain, and at a fairly constant, medium speed. In practice, not many of those things will be true all at once. Unfortunately for me, I am right at the top end of the 264lb weight limit, at 250. And, I live in a somewhat hilly neighborhood. So in practice, I was never able to get anywhere near 8 miles of range out of this thing. At best I would maybe get 2 miles, and even though the battery would say well over 50% left, I could tell it was starting to struggle, especially when going up even a minor slope. Either the auto balancing would begin to fail, it would just stop moving, or it would start beeping and I’d have to turn it off and on again. All of these issues would only start happening after about 20-30 minutes of use, or about 1-2 miles. On flat smooth surfaces, I was able to get a lot more use out of it, closer to an hour. So if you are heavier, or will be riding this up even minor slopes, don’t expect a ton of range. Even with these issues however, I have had a ton of fun riding around on this. Especially as I’ve gotten more confident and can really get it going to higher speeds. So while I think there could be some improvements made, they are mostly software based, and hopefully those will be fixed in future updates. As far as the hardware goes, it is really well built and fun to use. And I’m sure for lighter riders, you’ll get much more use out of it than I can. Overall I think it is a great hoverboard and I would definitely recommend if you are in the market for one.

I was a bit nervous trying out this hoverboard because of the stories and videos I've seen of people getting hurt on them. Hover makes it very easy to get accustomed to riding the Hoverboard by enabling different experience modes through their app. You can set the Hover-1 Ranger Pro to 1 of 3 modes before getting on it. It has beginner, intermediate, and expert modes that are all distinguished by how sensitive the board is when moving forwards, backwards, or making turns. After about 10 minutes on beginner mode, I was comfortable enough to ride it and eventually got to expert mode and increased max speed to 7mph. You can tell how fast you're going because the app has a speedometer when connected to show you your speed. This is only one of a few features incorporated into the app. You can change the lighting on the Hover-1 Ranger Pro simply on the app and choose from a color wheel. You can have a solid color, random color, and strobe effect. You can also turn off the light completely. I enjoyed the strobe effect but I'm not too sure what it does to battery life. Battery life can also be seen on the app which is extremely helpful because if the hoverboard loses power, falling is very possible. I lost power on the hoverboard once when quickly tilting forwards and backwards which at that point I was thrown off so I didn't try that again. There is a Bluetooth speaker built-in to the hoverboard which is actually pretty loud. It doesn't sound great but it's a decent sound that gets up there in volume and makes riding the hoverboard more enjoyable. The downsides about riding a hoverboard is the inability to ride up hills or even small bumps and large cracks that can throw you off. You need to stop, pick up the hoverboard, and continue on after walking to clear those obstacles. You can only ride it effortlessly on smooth concrete surfaces which limits the rideability of the hoverboard. In that sense, I found it most enjoyable riding in the driveway and well paved sidewalks but only for a short distance. I would not recommend a hoverboard for commuting anywhere unless you're on a campus that allows it to go from class to class or you work in an environment that allows it. On that note, out of the 6 other people that rode the hoverboard with me, all 6 including myself really enjoyed it after initially being terrified to try it out.

I never write bad reviews on Best Buy because usually I am satisfied with my purchase BUT this product was definitely review worthy. HORRIBLE HOVER BOARD!!!! RUN AWAY FROM THIS, BUY A DIFFERENT BRAND/HOOVER BOARD!! My husband bought this when it was on sale and we used it once to make sure it was working and it was fine so we put it back in the box and stored it for a couple of months since we were really busy for the next couple months. We took it out recently, charged it and ATTEMPTED to use it but it kept beeping and not working, we troubleshooted and watched every YouTube video to try and figure out the problem but now it’s not even working properly. We have had it in storage untouched so it shouldn’t be malfunctioning after 1 use. I’m so disappointed that the company has a 90 day warranty… I WONDER WHY.. hmm maybe they know that this is a piece of junk that won’t last more than 90 days? Honestly I think we just got a faulty one but I can’t even return it or get my money back. This is horrible! Save your money!

Hover-1 - Ranger Pro Electric Self-Balancing Scooter w/7 mi Max Range & 7 mph Max Speed- Premium Bluetooth Speaker – Black Came well packaged and unpackaging was easy. Good looking scooter with 10-inch wheels. I noticed both terminologies used in the manual for the HOVER-1 RANGER PRO, hoverboard and scooter, not sure which is the correct terminology. I also noticed the manual states w/8 mi Max Range & 9 mph Max Speed. I downloaded an app, when connecting to the hoverboard in the app, due to the lack of information listed in the app for all the Hoverboards, I was not sure if the app I chose would work for the Hover-1 Ranger Pro Electric Self-Balancing Scooter. On the front of the manual, written under OPERATION MANUAL was H1-RGPRO, I used what I assumed was the board listed with H1 (H does not look like an H) and it appeared I was connected. All the bells and whistles appear to be working correct and are cool. Not sure what the “Power On” button on the apps is for, when you touch it, it changes to “Standby Mode” or vise-versa however I didn’t notice the hoverboard changing status. The main page of the app displays your, ODO, your Trip Miles, your speedometer, the Mode you’re riding in such as Intermediate and your battery status. When loading the app, you can allow the app to know your location, this is a cool feature because you have access to the map showing your area and it works like the map in your car. Now for the rest of the story, like any kid I had to turn on the hoverboard/scooter and try it out (I am 66 years of age, 6’3”, 190 lbs.). First attempt, up and running, in the house. Felt good so I decided to take the Hover-1 Ranger out to the backyard and test it out on the walkways and concrete patio, I did not want witnesses if I crashed and burned. Fantastic ride, so I gravitated to the front drives and sidewalks, what a blast, you won’t want to stop. There is a self-balance function that activates when you turn the hoverboard on with the power button located on the rear left-side of the board next to the charging port. There are mat sensors under the foot mats so you must step up onto the hoverboard quickly or the hoverboard will spin. When looking down there are running indicator and battery indicator lights that light to notify you of the hoverboards running status. I did find them hard to see when in the direct sunlight. The hoverboard also has a built-in speaker you can pair to your phone and stream music, another cool feature that work very well. Had an issue with having to re-connect the Hoverboard to the app continually. This is an issue; you can use the Hoverboard board without using the app however the app has fun information and is needed to change some of the operational controls of the Hoverboard. The battery did not hold a long charge, rode approximately 2.9 miles, and had to charge it twice during that time. Short battery life. I found that any rise, such as the concrete joints on the sidewalk or holes, can affect your ride. Like any personal transporter, be careful and enjoy your ride. I know I did not wear safety gear for the video however I would recommend wearing the proper safety gear and be sure to follow your local laws.
