The story is about a dragon who has hurt his tail. The boy rigs a fake tale to help him fly. He isn't supposed to be a friendly dragon, but he is and he loves the boy. They become good friends.

I've seen this movie a ton of times in 2D and 3D bluray and thought it looked great already but the added detail and sharpness of the 4K version definitely makes it even better and look even more realistic with higher resolution and HDR. And it was a great price too, which made the choice to upgrade to watch on my 4K tv a no brainer as well. It looks noticeable better than HD version on both streaming in 4K on Apple TV and my Panasonic UB820 4K player.

First in a trilogy; Not a fluff story

DreamWorks films are typically as complex as Pixar films; i.e. not just shallow fun. There have been three films, a couple Christmas specials, and at least one animated TV show featuring this Viking/Dragon setting and characters. I now prefer to own 3D film versions when possible, but had previously bought the regular (2D) BluRay for this film. When the 3D version went on sale cheap, I decided to double up and get it. You should note, however, that if you want all three films in 3D, there is no US 3D release for the third/latest, but it is available as a UK version which is region free and will play in US 3D players. This 3D version (first film) is combined on a single disc with the 2D version and there are no bonus features on the disc (so I'll be keeping my older 2D-only version with BFs). I didn't check the DVD that comes with this to verify it has the BFs.

How to Train Your Dragon is a beautiful movie in terms of both visuals and story themes, and the new 4k presentation infuses even more life into the visuals through HDR. If you are considering an upgrade to the 4k version of this movie, this beautiful glossy steelbook (at a similar price point to the normal 4k edition) does the movie justice in terms of packaging, and should be a no-brainer.

When this movie initially was released I was not really interested, it was when I was in a plane and the movie was offered as a option that I was curious to watch it, since then I was hooked. For a animated series, I would recommend this for children and adults to watch separately or as a family together, you'll love it. worth every penny

This audio, picture quality and overall movie experience is phenomenal. If you have or have not seen this movie, this format with the right gear will blow you away. The picture is stunningly clear and the colors pop almost off the screen. And the surround sound quality was better than most of my collection. Highly recommended

What can I say. The disc is your standard fare, but the artwork for this blu-ray of How to Train Your Dragon is gorgeous! The pictures online I don't think do it justice. If you're a fan of this series, I would highly recommend you pick yourself up a copy before they're gone.

I had heard a lot of good things about this movie, but had never seen it. It was on sale, so I decided to get it and I'm glad I did. My oldest daughter(9) is into dragons and she totally flipped for it. It was definitely worth the money and all the kids love it.

This is a wonderful heartfelt movie that leaves you feeling like there is some hope that people can care for others. The animation is fantastic. The scenes are clear and easy to see what is going on. I was pleasantly surprised as an adult how entertaining the movie was!

This Steelbook has great cover and inside artwork, however there is no embossing or debossing. The movie is great for both parents and kids. I don't know if the 4k is that much different from the bluray however if your a steelbook collector like myself this was a great addition!

Just got the 4K Steelbook and its amazing for being almost 9 years old. I noticed a couple parts where there seemed to be lag or the picture skipping, but that could also be the setup I was using (LG 50U6090 and Xbox One X). Other than that, great movie that still holds up.

How to Train Your Dragon is the latest from the stable of Dreamworks, but apart from the animation style, you'd never know it. How to Train Your Dragon is the story of Hiccup, a Viking who feels out of place since he's not a fan of killing the dragons the Viking's world so revolves around in. But, when Hiccup captures the rare Night Fury Dragon and inadvertently injures it, the two become fast friends and attempt to bridge the gap of understanding between the Dragons & the Vikings. It may not sound like much, but things are deeper than they may seem here, and they are 3 reasons you need to go out and watch this movie right now. 1: Casting: Having seen Jay Baruchel as a geeky character in the film Fanboys, this film only solidifies for me the fact that Baruchel makes cliched characters feel real & brings traits out they wouldn't have otherwise, and this fact is very evident here. The same is true for the rest of the cast. In Shrek 2, Larry King was wasted in a long-running and painful transvestite joke. Here, Craig Ferguson is perfect in the role not only because he's Scottish, but he brings the appropriate mix of eccentric leadership needed for the right-hand man of Gerard Butler's character, who is also well cast. The same goes for the rest of the cast with the possible exception of Jonah Hill, who always feels out of place in almost every movie he's in. 2: Visual Effects & 3D: Now this may because the Viking environment hasn't been portrayed much on screen before, but the film is stunningly beautiful, and that's only reinforced by the 3D which is used better than Avatar in some cases, especially in the case of the flying sequences. 3: The Emotion/Uniqueness of the Film in Animation Today: The story gives way to many emotional moments in the film, all of which are played perfectly. And, not to give too much away, but at the end of the film something happens the to main character that was not only shocking to me, since I'd never seen something of its magnitude done in animation period, but to me it was also one of the most tear-jerking moments, especially in relation to what it does to the relationships & similarities between Hiccup & his dragon in the movie. Overall, how do you train your dragon? With charm, love, understanding, amazing visuals & stunning 3-D flying sequences. This film ranks up there with Pixar's best, and if I had any criticism towards the movie, it would be the fact that it's made by Dreamworks, and with their quality lately, you don't have high expectation entering this film. Nevertheless, How to Train Your Dragon gets a fire-breathing 5 out of 5.

If you're a little behind -go watch this. Cute, happy, dramatic, sad. Also, happy to toss out my cheap Black Friday plastic one for this collectible version. Not too many places have SteelBooks at all; and once again -only BB has this one.

Love this movie, I thought it had beautiful animation even on Blu Ray but the 4K brings the animation to a whole new level! The lighting and textures all look incredible! As if the film was made this year! Definitely worth getting on 4K!

With the final movie out, thought it will be a good time to revisit these movies in 4k. Did not have a chance to see the regular blu ray but the 4k showed in a sharp clear vision, much better than how I remember watching it in theaters.

My kids love this movie! My daughter always refuses to watch what she calls boy movies, but this was an exception. Both kids are really into How to Train your Dragon. if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend giving it a chance.
