Paper is good, but ink cartridges unreliable

They say if something is too good to be true, it probably isn't (true, that is). This item falls into that category. The 150 sheets of glossy paper, alone, are probably worth the purchase price. To get a full set of 6 ink cartridges with it, worth over $70, was an unbelievably good value - or so I thought. Not long after I inserted the magenta cartridge, I got an error message indicating I had inserted a used cartridge, even though I had taken it from a sealed package. It was out of ink in about 1/4 the normal time, requiring a quick return to the store buy another one. I had the same problem with a couple of the other cartridges as well. To be completely fair, I would again like to point out that the paper alone was probably worth the purchase price. The fact that ink cartridges were included at all is definitely a bonus, and at least 3 may have been full. This is great package if you just want to print a few pictures. But if, like me, you buy this package hoping to get a $70 set of ink cartridges at half price with glossy paper as a bonus, you may be disappointed. To avoid disappointment, make sure you have extra ink cartridges as a backup.

Not full ink - for the photo paper included

This does indeed look a great deal, half the price of buying seperate inks and photo paper! However, it is intended to print basically the number of photo papers included. This is wonderful for someone who occassionally needs to print a batch of photos, but not good for everyday printing. Comparing the HP printers to Epson, Canon, and Kodak, the HP's certainly give the best quality. I MUCH prefer the Advance photo paper, and that is actually what is recommended. The Premium paper takes a while to dry, and has that annoying tear off tab (because it does take a while to dry). This value pack contains a lot less black than typical, and very little light magenta and cyan. In fact, a full light cyan and magenta will last for many hundreds of prints. I tend to buy yellow first, then black. But in a year with heavy printing, I've only replaced these a few times. The ink does smear when wet, however. Of course a laser is better for printing labels that will be exposed to weather, but I would hope a photograph won't be getting wet.

I have used other refilled cartridges and they do not work as well and many times my printers realize these are not original HP cartridges and will remind you that warranty will be voided and they may cause problems with your printer. Unfortunately, I did not heed this warning and I have a $600 printer that will not work anymore due to non HP ink. If you have a problem affording original HP, wait till they go on sale and watch Best Buy for great deals over other Office Supply stores. No problems until using non HP cartridges. I immediately removed all other non HP cartridges from my other printers and replaced with original HP cartridges and have never had problems since. Careful with OD/OM, etc.. I paid half what I would have paid otherwise with this pack combo. Excellent purchase!

May not be getting what you think

When I first started buying this Value Package, my assumption was that I was getting "standard" cartridges with the same amount of ink that's in the individual cartridges. Unfortunately, that is not true. In very small print, the package states that these are "customize cartidges" made to print out about a 150 4X6 photo cards, exactly the number that comes in the box. It would be nice to compare exact volumes in ml's between what comes in each cartridge in this package with information that is easily obtainable for each "standard" cartridge. Getting exact volume amounts for the value package from HP has been impossible to get, at least for me.

Pros: Free shipping and you can save $20 when you purchase two. When I purchased this item in January the total came to $63.58 with tax, that's $31.79 per ink pack. I found this to be the best price for the product. Cons: This ink is pricy. I like the printer though and ink in general is pricy for all-in-one printers. The photo value pack does present a lower price, but it is intended to give you enough ink for the 150 photos. I am not sure if it would be worth it to shell out the extra arm and a leg for the ink cartridges with higher ink content. You can expect to pay around $100 for all six individual cartridges. For now, I'm happy with this buy.

    Ink Levels Lower

    Posted
    Siggster

Be aware! The ink levels for this value pack are not the same as in the combo pack (CC604FN)...they are less. After an hour on the phone with HP and conflicting answers, I finally received a solid answer that the ink levels in this value pack are less. I've been purchasing this pack for the past two years thinking I was getting a deal. I do not use the photo paper (I print labels), so it was a waste all around. If quantity is what you're looking for, this is not a value at all! I'm still an HP fan, just wish they would disclose the facts to consumers.

This seemed like a 'great' price at the time. Only to get home and find out that the ink cartridges contained less ink that thought. The ink cartridges were believed to be full sized ones(I asked an Associate), same as the ones in just the multi-pak(w/o the 4x6 paper), but as I found out online, the set I bought had less ink. I found out that when you buy the kit with paper, the ink cartridges hold enough ink to print out that amount of paper. Now I know, and I hope the Associates at your store will know this too. It was still a very good deal.....just not as good as originally thought.

    Better price than buying separately.

They do have less ink than the standard cartidges and HP support does suck these days but the Advanced paper gives decent results. You can get better quaility with their premium paper but this takes about 1-2 minutes where the Advanced paper prints in about 15 seconds and dries almost instantly and is more water resistant. HP no longer makes printers that use these 02 cartridges and that's a shame because they are the most economical. Its the only ink tank that has 2 holes, when it does a cleaning is puts most of the ink back in the tank instead of squirting it on a sponge. I have never had a clogged nozzle in over 3 years. Epson printers clog in the showroom!

    Best Value for Ink Replacement

The local Best Buy store had two ink replacement options: 1) This Kit for roughly $50 or 2) Individual inks for $15+ The problem is the printer colors don't wear evenly and some colors were not even displayed for sale. So, the only option was this kit. Because these kits are the most cost effective option (and in some instances the only option), I now have stacks and stacks of HP photo paper. Opening soon: RedScorpion's HP photo paper emporium. Please, contact me for all your HP photo paper needs. (How else will I pay for this expensive ink that barely seems to last a month?)

    Viveria ink is horrible

The only good thing about this ink is the vibrant colors it can produce. Having said that, this is worst ink on the market today, period! Will smudge when even the slightest hint of moisture is around. Try rubbing your finger on the page. The ink will smear and run, even after several months of drying time!!! Steer clear of these cartirdges! If you have a printer that uses this type of ink, I would highly recommend you get something different. Laser printers are cheap enough now to never have to deal with this type of horrible quality control. Not to mention that toner is thousands of times cheaper than ink carts.

I have bought these ink cartridges at another office supply store on occasion. However, I have found that I get early notices that the ink is expired and could cause damage to my printers.By "early" I mean shortly after the cartridges have been installed. I have never had this issue when I purchase my cartridges from Best Buy. My problem with purchasing from Best Buy is that very seldom do you have these cartridges individually or as a complete set and since I have 2 printers requiring these cartridges, I am sometime forced to buy elsewhere.

I have bought these packs several times and they are a good value for the package deal. However, I have often felt the ink cartridges empty quicker than the ones I buy individually. If you look on the box it does say that these units are special made for this photo pack. Don't expect to get as much printing out of one of these cartridges as you do when you buy individual units. The only reason I bought this package this time is because Best Buy only carries 3 of the 5 colors of ink now, so the only way to get all the colors I needed was to buy the photo pack.

The multi-pack of 02 ink is the the only option for this ink available. I have had my printer for over 8 years and have over a dozen of light pink and light blue cartridges and numerous packs of 4x6 photo paper that I will never use. Most of the unused ink tanks are now expired and the photo paper is still unwrapped. What a waste! Why can't I just buy the individual colors I need when I need them? I appreciate the cost savings on the "package" but would also welcome a discount for multiple individual ink cartridge purchases.

I love the ink cartridges and the ease of installation. The price is a really great value for what you get. Paper is good quality. The whole package is reasonable and gives you great quality pictures on the HP Photosmart 8250 printer. I will use nothing else. If the price goes up, so what, I'll still keep buying the package deal as long as it is available. I usually buy 2 packages at a time but there have been times when I have purchased 3-4 packages. I always use them before they expire. We take alot of pictures and I am quite happy with their quality.

I had no idea this pack contained less ink in the cartridges until the sales person tipped me off. I can't find it anywhere on the box. Cartridges are the same size--guess they don't fill them all the way? I think this is a great package, but I prefer the Premium or better HP paper to the Advanced this set comes with. And I'm not sure I've ever had to replace my black ink cartridge except when it expired as to not void the warranty. I go for the 'colors only' ink pack and buy the paper separately. Makes a nice all-in-one gift for someone!

Some complain that the cartridges may not have as much ink in them compared to buying a single cartridge. May be true, I don't notice it as a huge significant difference. I take a lot of digital photos and my wife likes having them printed so she can put them into photo albums, she doen't like showing photos on the computer. So having the 150 sheets of photo paper is a real bonus for what we do. I don't buy the pack all the time, tend to collect a lot of color cartridges that the printer doesn't use as much of.

I needed several different color ink cartridges for my HP printer. I started picking out the different cartridges then saw the package with 6 cartridges plus 150 photo sheets. The price was less then 4 cartridges when bought separately. I asked a sales clerk if the amount of ink in the cartridges would be the same. He said yes. I'm not so sure I agree with him but couldn't see anything on the packages to compare. I've been using them and so far so good. Even if less it still seemed like a good deal.

Been using this ink for quite some time. Love the feature of this kit with the paper. Great cost value if you need more than one ink replacement. Have some of this same ink working well past it's "expire " date. The only drawback is the expire error that needs to be cleared if you do continue to use it. I don't print a lot but it is always reliable and vibrant when I need it. Works well in cold and hot temperatures and on photo, plain and transfer paper and other speciality papers.

Wont get much bang for your buck here. The cartridges are smaller than buying them individually. And with the added photo paper it still doesn't make you feel the love from HP on this one. Always loved how my printer holds up to my picture printing standards and the ink is a must have for just that. Had to bite the bullet since I have done all other ink options out there (i.e. refills, knockoffs, etc.) and had to have printer serviced for doing so.

    Good Package Deal

This is probably the best deal for HP printers with multiple cartridges. However, I'm not sure about the cartridges being "half full". I seem to get just as many prints as I would a normal cartridge. The only problem with this kit is that you will eventually have extra duplicate colors that you don't use as much. And if you don't print out photos as often, you will have lots of extra paper. Not a big problem, as you can always buy the colors you need seperately.
