Got the last one on black friday package was damaged but got it home and everything was perfect got this for my daughter to use for college and it was exactly what she needed .

I rarely take the time to write reviews, but in this case I am doing so because of how pleased I am with this little laptop. This is a fantastic laptop for the money (I paid $289 during the Black Friday sale). You can read about the specs elsewhere, so I’ll instead just mention my experience, recommendations and thoughts. I first did a clean installation of Windows 10 using a USB stick loaded with the OS using Windows Medial Creation Tool. This will eliminate the bloatware that comes with the laptop (3rd-party antivirus software, HP software that’s not needed, etc.) and give you back about 10 gigs of space that’s otherwise taken up by that bloatware. Once booted up, I immediately uninstall those things that come with Windows 10 itself for which I have no interest (Candy Crush, Office apps, etc.). Then I check for updates and let Windows 10 completely update itself. Finally, I go to the Microsoft store, and let all of those apps completely update also. At this point you’ve got a nice clean foundation onto which you can start adding all of your applications and files. I use Revo Uninstaller and CCleaner often to keep the ssd and registry tidy and to prevent unwanted things running at startup. I’m also using Windows 10 built it antivirus software. My thoughts so far are below. Positive: Bang for the Buck – excellent specs and performance for the money. Performance – thanks to the ssd, this laptop is very quick. Mine boots up in 9 seconds, and general performance is excellent. I never feel like I’m stuck waiting for things to happen. Port selection – 2 USB A, 1 USB C, HDMI, Ethernet, SD Reader – at this price, this is pleasantly surprising. Build quality – very little flex, nice stiff/sturdy hinge, light weight Audio – while these speakers are not going to blow anyone away with their quality, they work well for acoustic music that doesn’t have a lot of bass – decent volume and clarity and the HP Audio Control software allows for tweaking the sound to get to something you’ll like. I’m happy to mention that the speakers are located above the keyboard, rather than at the front edge of the laptop facing down. This is the better choice as far as sound quality is concerned. I own/have owned many laptops, and the speakers in this aren’t bad at all for a laptop of this size/price. Upgradability – according to an HP rep, the ram is upgradable to 16gigs, and you can also upgrade the ssd for more capacity. Looking at the back of the laptop, I see only two Phillips head screws, so there’s clearly more that would need to be dismantled to do these upgrades, and I’m not sure how difficult that might be on this particular model, but in general, upgradability is a plus. Battery Life – I go into Windows 10’s settings to tweak my laptops for maximum performance even on battery power, and so far, battery life seems to be excellent despite this. Negatives: None really – when you consider the price, I think this laptop is an excellent deal. Neither Positive nor Negative: The screen – it’s definitely bright enough, but it is glossy and some people prefer matte finish to read without glare. The resolution is 1366 x 768. While many people would prefer 1920 x 1080, I’m fine with it. On a 14” inch screen it simply doesn’t make that much difference. I can read books/documents just fine, and videos look great also. Plus, at 1366 x 768, there’s less batter draw then there would be at higher resolutions. Trackpad – the trackpad is ok, but I’ve used better. It seems a little too responsive to scrolling inputs at default settings, but you can always tweak those. Trackpad also has actual buttons below for left and right clicking. It’s been awhile since I’ve used a laptop that has these (rather than incorporating them into the trackpad itself), but they work perfectly well. Keyboard – flat chicklet style. There’s no curvature to the top of the keys, but the depth is not bad and overall it’s an easy enough experience to type on. I wanted to say a little bit about gaming. People often ask “can it run game X?” and get the response that no, this isn’t a gaming laptop. While it’s true that this is not designed to run new games, I want to remind people that ***any*** laptop is a gaming laptop, if you choose the right games. ;) There are hundreds of great titles from the past that run perfectly well on this hardware. In fact, I’ve loaded this up with many games that are all running flawlessly, including first-person shooters running at over 60fps. I’ll just wrap this up by again saying that for the money, this laptop is an excellent value and I would highly recommend it.

I like the fact that it is smaller than the common 15.6 inch. HD is smaller but is a solid state and you would need an external hard drive is storing much.

I bought this laptop during black friday on good deal. I really like this laptop and it works well. No issue till now. I would recommend this to my friends and others.

Bought this for one of our daughters and so far she is really enjoying it. The SSD allows it to boot quickly and 8GB is enough for her needs. So far no issues with it.

I bought this for my sis. It is a solid built and easy to set up. It hasn't been used that much so I cannot review its performance. I think that should be good.

Bought two of these laptops for my College kids and they love them. They are compact and lightweight so are easy to carry around. So far, they are working well.

Bought this for my soon. It's a great laptop. Easy to use. Dont work with laptop on the bed, keep it on a table to vent.. it can overheat !

Computer overall is good. Space filled up very quickly and needed to purchase more memory. It's great for a basic computer but if you need space go with a different model.

PC works great and it was easy to set up. I purchased this for my 90 year old dad and he was able to pick up the use of the PC / windows 10 pretty easily.

I bought this laptop for for this thanks giving and I really love it. I got it on the holidays deal. Though it is 14” still I don’t see much difference and it is compact.

This is buy far best laptop I owned. The price was perfect and the laptop itself is perfect. It’s very fast, lightweight and very bright pictures.

It works good as a touch screen laptop, but it has cursor problem when using the google chrome app which I do not like. You cannot see and use the cursor.

I wanted an easy laptop to use that has a lot of memory. Great product! I haven’t had a brand new computer in a very long time! I love it!

Overall it was an ok computer for the price. I would recommend this laptop to students who are in high school.

The laptop is slim, not too heavy, and fits easily into my book case. It is also very lightweight. It is definitely worth the price!
