BestBuy was great. Service was great. Price was great. That should bring it above 1 star. But the HP computer was lousy, which I actually had to return because the screen brightness was horrible. (Yes, the brightness was set at high, and when I brought it back to Best Buy it was very easy to see how poor the brightness was compared to the other computers on display.) I'm not sure whether it was a problem with my own computer, or whether all of them are made that way (there wasn't another similar model on display to compare it against.) In any event, I just couldn't stand looking at the screen and wound up returning the computer for a Dell (similar low price-point.) So here's the other issue: the Microsoft Operating System. I've been a mac user for the past many years, but also had a PC at work running an older version of the Microsoft Operating System. The new one (with all the blocks on the front page) is piece of....junk. (Gotta keep this family-friendly). It took me so long to try to figure out what should be very easy commands. I wish I could uninstall this operating system and run the older version. I heard Microsoft is coming out with a new "better" version? Well, it better be better, for the sake of Dell, HP, and all those other PCs. I use my mac for everything, and have turned off all functions on my new Dell so I use it only for the one function needed for my work (powerpoint slides).

This laptop does exactly what I thought it would do, at a price point that made it easier to swallow.

I purchased this laptop only for the purpose of basic research and work. It has worked out greatly.
