This HP is just OK
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laptop after a week of research. It does seem to have plenty of power. I also really like the touchscreen and the included DVD. The reason I scored it a 3 is for two reasons. The sound is terrible and the screen clarity is not good. The speaker is under the laptop so it is hard to hear. I watched a movie and I had to turn it all the way up to hear it. The picture quality is just ok. I am going to return this laptop for these two reasons and go with one with a full HD screen and speakers on it instead of under it.

Bad Computer and Bad Best Buy experience
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was less than 2 weeks that I had this laptop. The battery life may have lasted an hour. I have to keep laptop plugged in for long time use. The screen has an internal crack in screen. I took it back to Best Buy (ATL Buckhead location) for them to tell me that I'm 2 days past the return date and it was damaged so there is nothing that they can do but give me the manufacturer number. The body language/facial expression of the geek squad person and customer service manager that was communicating to the nice cashier Kadisha was horrible. They did not look my way once to show any empathy or try to make my experience any better. The CS manager ask the cashier how much did I pay for the computer then brushed it off as if it was not worth her time to give me great customer service. Just to think that if you buy a product from Best Buy and have a problem the only way to get service is if you purchase their over the top price geek squad protection plan for a product which is almost the same price of the plan. My experience with Best Buy customer service Saturday was a Zero Star rating.

Wonderful Laptop with a lot of features
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So what are the features? A fairly small laptop weighing in at roughly 4.7lbs and .9inches heigh. A modest design with a black on black color scheme which is fairly standard, but it does come with a full keyboard and a 15.6" touchscreen. Other features include a DVD+RW drive, Webcam, HDMI, 3 USB Ports, Ethernet, Headphone/microphone ports, and MicroSD capabilities. Whats under the hood? The laptop comes equiped with a 1-Terabyte SATA hard drive, Windows 10 (64-bit), A10 Series APU @ 2.4ghz with AMD Radeon R5 graphic cabailities, 6GB of DDR4 SDRAM, & integrated Wireless (B,G,N) Hows the touchscreen? The LED touchscreen has a resolution of 1366 x 768 and very responsive to even the most slightest touch. Since I never had a touchscreen before, this was a very different experience, as I had the opportunity to use this feature with some games, you can imagine. Battery Life: The Battery life i got from the laptop was around 3 hours while surfing the web and watching movies with Battery Saver on. Howerever I had to keep the charger plugged in while playing games due to only having a 30 minute charge without it. Besides the basic functions can i play any games? This laptop is more than capable of running basic functions such as surfing the web, twitch or youtube viewing, and playing movies but what impressed me was the capabilities of playing games. Now, we are not talking about Ultra settings @ 60 FPS. However, after running games like Aliens Isolation, SOMA, Murder Soul Suspect, Rocket League, and Total War: Warhammer I only used the games standard Low/Medium/High quality settings. I could definately see room for improvement if you tweeked the settings more to get the most out of performance. Is this the laptop for me? If your looking to buy a laptop and want to mix every day usage with some modest gaming pleasure than this laptop could easily be right up your ally. With all the features that are jammed into this easy-to-carry laptop, easy to setup, user friendly with a price point of $399. I would say it would be hard to pass up.

Great specs bad performance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laptop about 2 weeks ago on sale at best buy. I was amazed at the price and specs on this computer as I typically just search the Web and use office 365. Thus computer would be great if you can manage to have it plugged in to an electrical outlet and hardwired ether net cable all the time. The laptop after several full charges I finally tested the battery and the max time I could get off the plug was 2 hours and that's not watching videos. Just basic Web surfing. Also the WiFi card in this computer is very week as my other laptops and cell phones run much faster. So if you decide to purchase this computer please consider purchasing a WiFi extender if not hardwired and if you are looking for battery strength a spare battery is a must.

Seems to be usual hp
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My Pavilion laptop that I purchased in 2010 finally died, I was in desperate need of a replacement, and saw this one at Best Buy. I brought it home, set it up, and was off to work. I have not had any problems with it. So far it has been the workhorse that I needed. I bought the unit because of the touch screen but I always have remind myself to use it. The REALLY BIG PROBLEM THAT I NOW HAVE is that I just saw that it is now 17.00 cheaper than when I purchased it.

Bristol Ridge was worth the wait
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazing deal. I got it on mark down for $319. A few highlights below: A) It came with a game download. I chose Dirt: Rally, a game that goes for $60 on steam. Total bonus! B) The APU in this laptop is amazing. AMD APUs have been really lackluster - because they were stuck with DDR3, and IGPs are dependant on system memory. This laptop features a Bristol Ridge processor. Its a retooling of Carrizo, at lower TDPs, with updated memory controllers. The result is that the DDR4 memory allows the IGP to actually meet its potential. The R5 this thing has is actually identical to the R6 in last generations A12s. I'm running GTA V at 720p, with minimal frame rate issues. This laptop is capable of running really decent games. I'm gonna try running Fallout 4 next. I'm willing to bet it will run. C) Very little bloatware. Only thing I removed was McAfee. Windows Defender is just as good, less system resource intensive. Removed a couple start up apps; all in all, least amount of tinkering I've ever had to do with a laptop to get it up to snuff D) For the people complaining about "WiFi speed" its running Wireless N. The WiFi adapter is fine. Its because you're downloading windows updates and app updates in the background. Your first couple hours, don't cruise the web. Update the thing. E) The case is actually quite nice. The screen is a bit dull; however, I'm not complaining. It looks nice enough, and you rarely see a touchscreen at this price point that isn't a Celeron based paperweight. All in all, I love this machine. Its kinda sleek, has a touch screen, really decent video performance, and was super freaking inexpensive. Plus its the first AMD based computer I've seen worth owning since 2012. Go Team Red!!

Perfect and great price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a basic laptop for my business, I didn't need any crazy extras, but this has a touch screen and hdmi hookup that I like, but wasn't even looking for when I bought this computer. Very happy with my purchase!

Surprisingly fast
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just needed a pc I could use at home for letters, emails and a few late night, last minute PowerPoints. Didn't want to spend a lot of money. This HP laptop was on sale and extremely reasonable. Got it home and was very pleasantly surprised at speed, ease of setup etc. only downsides: plastic feels cheap and flimsy (it's not going to travel so that isn't a deal breaker for me) The touchpad is super cheap and "bouncy " so using Bluetooth mouse instead. Overall, not bad for what I needed. Wouldn't want to use all day for work or school. But little home PC, good deal!!

Nice laptop for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is a great starter machine. It has enough power and memory to handle most day to day tasks. I would recommend it to someone that doesn't need to do power apps or extreme gaming

Not so good an experience
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this computer after my Gateway of 11 years finally gave up the ghost. I was impressed with the price, but had never had a computer with AMD processor. Set up was easy, took less than 30 minutes. However, on the 1st day, the computer shut down and came back on twice. I assumed it was doing some type of up date. The battery was only lasting abut 2 hours. That first night I moved the computer off my lap and onto a table and it shut down and came back on. The next morning, after about 2 hours, it shut down but this time did not come back on. It started cycling but never got passed the HP logo. So after only 2 days I took it back and got an ICore 5 processor for about $100 more. There were good reviews and bad reviews of this item. I decided to give it a try and became one of the bad reviews. Customer service was great and I was in and out in about 20 minutes.

Great laptop for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was in need of a laptop for basic use - emails, word docs, etc. and I needed one that had a larger screen. This totally fit the bill and I got it on sale at an amazing price so I was pleased. For the most part, it's a great computer. It's fast, it's fairly lightweight and it handles everything that I need to do. However, the battery life on it is the worst. Like I can't even believe how bad it is. So it has to stay plugged in and so the convenience of having a laptop is completely void here. Very disappointed.

Not sure.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I submitted a review previously, wanted to send another one. This is the second time I bought this model. First one I returned after it would not boot. It was only after 1 week and Best Buy took back no problem. I figured I got a lemon, but liked the features, etc. This second unit I have had for about 2 months. Same issue occurred. Would not boot. This occurred after windows did automatic update, and also graphics card update. My gut feeling is the AMD Radeon GRaphic card update might have been the issue, but can't confirm. Tried rollback from system restore and still can't boot. Called HP support and after checking some things, and trying to do the restore to checkpoint etc. only recourse is doing a reset to factory settings. so I lose all my files. Most I have backed up or are in the cloud, etc. but it is a major pain. Just seems odd that twice this happened on two separate computers. I have had a lot of HP computers over the years and always been happy, but something seems just not right. I am by no means a computer expert, but also not a novice. Been using PC's since the late 80's on a 286sx. back when you had to tweak autoexec and bat files for better performance. Giving a 2 instead of a 1 since it could be the graphics update and when the computer was working/booted up it worked quite well, but HP should vet any updates by partners better if that or Windows update truly was the cause.

Decent Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the price the Laptop is decent. The hard drive is a little slow but at least it can be swapped out for an SSD when the SSD prices drop. Like the HDMI input. Would have liked it to have bluetooth builtin but wasnt deal breaker. Overall good laptop for surfing and light work. Good entry computer.

A bargain, with problems..
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very good price for an Intel I5 based machine with working 15" touch screen, especially when it's on sale. Battery life on first charge was poor, as some reported, but improved to a decent 3 hours after several full-charge, full-discharge cycles. More problematic was the WiFi performance; I could only get about 1/4 of the download speeds compared to my other laptops and I-pad in identical locations. Web page loads were very slow as a result. Perhaps, I was just unlucky and got a defective WiFi adapter. Regards other more minor issues, the display was adequate, but not as good contrast or color rendition as some older HP's I've used. The current style of black keys on black background makes finding the home keys difficult to impossible in low or no lighting. Case design with grooves makes adding a decorative laminate harder, and attracts dirt and fingerprints. Without the WiFI problem I would have given 1.5 more stars. Had to return the laptop.
