Saved $70 on refurbished model vs new in excellent condition. Needed to replace a desktop running windows 7. So far, the laptop is running smoothly. The only complaint that I have is the wifi sometimes turns off when windows loads up. I am using this laptop strictly for work use and not personal so it's not a Major let down. I don't want to go thru the hassle of returning it since its critical that I work from home. Its quick and keyboard keys are quite large. The battery life is average, so I keep it plugged in while working. For a $600 machine, it functions as it should.

I am so happy with this purchase. I got it to replace a Windows 7 laptop that was 6 years old. I love the feel of the keyboard and the size of the screen. This computer had everything that I needed for work and home. I didn't need a touchscreen, and although this has one, I am appreciating the touchscreen option. Overall, a good purchase.

The computer is fast, intuitive and overall just a great deal for the price. I would definitely buy it again. However, the battery life is really a problem. I would say I’m averaging less than 2 hours of use before I have to recharge it. I’m not sure why. I will be taking it back into Best Buy and hopefully they will be willing to provide a new battery.

With the pandemic in full swing, hoping for it to better soon, we had to purchase our 11 year old a laptop. We bought this HP and so far it has performed very nicely. My daughter is now running it all by herself and loves it. The touch screen feature is something she really loves. This is a great laptop for her to grow into. We could have gone with a $200 model, but we would have needed to upgrade it sooner than later. I, as her father, recommend it!

Great Specs - Average Build Quality

I think this laptop is best described as "Lets take mid-high end specs and put them in a low end chassis". I would like to give it 3.5 stars, but the site doesnt allow half stars.
12Gb of Ram, 10th gen (latest) processor, Optane memory, SSD, 1080p touchscreen - it really checks a LOT of boxes. But.. normally to check all those boxes you are looking at spending >$700. So here is how they do it.. the screen picture quality is poor - its the coloring, poor view angle and backlight bleed that give a cheap feel. Its very similar to what is on my 2 year old $300 black friday special laptop. The keyboard.. again feels low end. The plastic shell low end - lots of flex, doesnt feel durable. It also feels like it takes a long time to charge compared to other laptops Ive had.
Also.. windows S? why? I had to move it out of S mode to get chrome installed.. at least that is free.
So overall, yes I recommend it, but I think people should check one out in person because all of the flaws are things you don't see in the specs online. Its pretty smart of HP to do this in the age of buying online.. check the boxes people care about for a great price and cheap out on the things you cant show online.
I am the family computer guy and I bought this to setup for my grandmother. I used it heavily the first 3 days getting it setup before handing it over. It did Blue screen once in that time and it has locked up and had to be force shut down 2x. I attribute this to poor drivers and/or windows 10 stability issues over bad hardware.

this laptop has amazing features for its price. An Intel Core I5 with 12GB Memory and 256 GB of SSD for only $579 +tax
for beginners like my children it's a great deal. My boys started doing all their school projects , created Vlog and editing some videos.
They are getting familiar day after day with the laptop improving their results very quickly.
It's a very easy device to begin with.
Money very well spent.

Needed a computer just for searching the internet/online shopping and checking emails - this is great for that when I don’t wanna look on my small phone screen. This is my first windows since prob being in HS (always had a mac) but I realized I do not need to spend 1100$ on a computer just to go on google - this does what I need. Also didn’t realize it was touchscreen until reviewing right now!

My dad and I bought this for my mom, as she's started having to work from home more. I was looking for a good deal but not so low spec'd that it wouldn't last at least 3-4 years. We've loved it. It was easy for her to learn. The biggest plus for her has been the size of the screen. While not high resolution, it is definitely easier to see for her. The only thing we find annoying is how little it takes for the fans to kick in full speed. But, I assume that has to do with HP's conservative tuning on the thermals. Not a bad laptop. For basic tasks, a great laptop. My aim with buying this one was finding a laptop that wouldn't bog down too much over the years. The 12 GB RAM is probably overkill for her use, but I couldn't refuse a great deal. For a sub-$600 laptop, it was a great value. If it goes back up above $600 like it's normal price is, I'd have a harder time recommending it when ASUS and Acer are putting out great midrange hardware. Anyway, after about a week of daily use, yes at either price, it gets a solid recommendation from me.

A very nice mid level computer. It's not top of the line but it'll do everything you need and it'll be fast. 256GB storage is enough for most work or home uses, though people who need lots of storage will want either an external drive, or another model. Optane storage makes it even faster. Very good for home or office use

I like this laptop, really want to keep it.Like the touchscreen, the fact that i have both hdmi and usb ports as that is importatnt to me.But lord knows this fan is too noisy. Its running when nothing is open and its so loud. Not sure why a nice laptop should make this amount of noise. Is it just me dealing with the loud fan issue?

Quickly processes graphic design on the go, and I like that it has a touch screen. Re: fan noise. I would compare it to what you hear on an airplane. It’s not constant, and if it helps keep things cool, I’m fine with that. Would love a bigger screen, but for this price point, with a Solid State Drive (SSD) it’s a good deal IMO.

I am very happy with this computer. It is fast. It is lightweight. Easy to use. I prefer the HP brand. I have never had any problems with the HP brand of computer and printers. My last HP is over 8 years old and still working. It was getting slower and I needed to upgrade to Windows 10. I am also happy with my new HP printer.

The screen, weight of the computer and speed are all excellent, as expected. The good, rather than excellent, rating is due to the sensitivity of the touch pad. It is so sensitive that it jumps words when typing fast. I also have a Lenovo ThinkPad and previously had an IdeaPad which did not have this issue.

Bought this laptop a little less than a month ago for my wife to work at home when needed.. so far so good! She actually uses it at work instead of her dinosaur desktop! It appears to be very easy to use. I’m pretty sure we’ll have to add more memory down the road once it’s being used for more personal things.

The computer itself is fine. But, the fan started up within minutes of my first boot up. This is the first time in a lifetime of laptops that the fan has come on so early in the game and it worries me a bit. I've had it a month or two so we'll see how far we get.

The HP laptop may not have the bells and whistles of more expensive laptops built for gaming and heavy processing, but for a basic home computer, it’s about as close to a perfect PC. It’s powerful, fast, and surprisingly light.

I bought this for my daughter who is in 7th grade for online learning.
I am a Mac lover but is too costly for kids.
This is surprisingly light weight which is ideal for students. This doesn't have the CD drive which is fine. You hardly need one these days. You save some weight and gain the slim design for that.
Always go with SSD, not HDD. This one has SSD with 256GB. Which is considered less in general, but for kids you do not need too much storage. Even if it is for adults, it is probably ok if you are ok to use external drives. All depends on your budget.
Verdict - If you are looking for a light weight big screen laptop which is fast, this is the one. The display is ok but it looks blurry at an angle. My daughter never complained.
I would suggest to give it a try , you can always return if you don't like the display. Everything else is nice. I am happy with the purchase.
