Good mouse, easy to use; miserable packaging.

The HP - 200 Wireless Optical Mouse, (made in China), was received on the day that was predicted when I ordered it at the Best Buy store that had sold out of their in-store stock. It arrived in well protected packaging and in good condition. After taking it out of its heavy plastic wrapping, I finally figured out where the battery compartment was and how to open it, as detailed operating instructions were lacking. It seems that every mouse has a unique location for batteries and equally unique methods for removing the battery compartment cover. Fortunately after inserting the battery into the mouse; and the receiver into the USB port of my HP laptop computer; my computer immediately recognized the mouse and began working as expected. I didn't need to down load any drivers or sync it to my computer, likely because both the mouse and my computer are made by HP. The HP - 200 Wireless Optical Mouse works as expected, and has not shown any deficits or inadequacies. It is comfortable to hold and to manipulate. It responds immediately and accurately. I am not a gamer so I don't need exceptionally fast response, however the HP - 200 Wireless Optical Mouse seems to respond as fast as I need it to. My only criticism, which won't change anything, is the heavy plastic packaging that is so hard to cut and so unnecessarily difficult to remove. This is why i gave only 4 stars in this review, which is not fair to the actual mouse, which should get 5 stars. Every time I cut open that type of packaging, I end up getting painful cuts and scrapes on the skin of my fingers, from the sharp edges along the plastic as it is removed. I wish there was a less wasteful and painful packaging option for computer accessories. However, the HP - 200 Wireless Optical Mouse is a good product so far, and i would recommend it to anyone wanting a standard stripped-down, everyday working computer mouse, for a decent price.

A mouse is just a mouse, right? And with the technology nowadays, anybody can make a good wireless mouse, right? Boy, I was so wrong! With that thought, I bought a no brand name mouse to use at work, the first couple days, the mouse was laggy and I thought it could be the batteries included in the package are not good, I changed the batteries but it's still bad so I thought it could be there were some electronics equipment around me that affect that wireless transmission of the mouse. It was not even 2 weeks and I couldn't stand anymore because it affected my productivity, so I thought "Heck, let's get the brand name!" I used to have HP PC, keyboard, mouse,.... so I got a HP wireless mouse, oh boy, it's like night & day difference and it was also at a good price (not that I'm a cheapskate because this is only a few bucks more than the other one) I would never buy a no name mouse again, I will only buy either Logitech or HP and so far HP doesn't disappoint me at all!

I normally would not have bought an HP mouse, but it was a deal of the day for less than $10 so I took a chance. I'd been looking for a reliable mouse for my laptop for a while and this one fits the bill quite nicely. The dongle is bright blue and a little bit bigger than I was hoping for, but it's not so big that I have to remove it when I take my laptop places. I do like that there's a place to keep the dongle inside the mouse if you do take it out of he USB port. I had an older mouse that you had to keep track of both the mouse and the dongle and eventually I lost the dongle. This little HP mouse works great when I'm sitting on the sofa, at the coffee shop, or in meetings. We'll see how long it lasts, but so far I'm pretty happy with it.

Recently sought to replace my old Bluetooth wireless mouse, and one of the staff at Best Buy recommended this HP-200 as "a reliable and inexpensive solution. At a mere fraction of the price other brands (and some no names) were charging for similarly equipped mouse devices, I decided it was worth the experiment. In fact, this wireless mouse is very simple to set up and use...with ONE caveat: it is difficult to ascertain exactly how the batteries are correctly positioned, which meant some trial and error before finding the right +/- combinations. Once past that blip, the device works perfectly well, and does not even require a mouse pad. Very handy! I give this device a solid four stars (coming from me, that's high marks!)

This mouse is simple and easy to use. Just plug in the usb adapter on your computer/laptop and it was already working. The mouse has a simple on/off switch on the bottom and red laser. The build of the mouse is simple with just plastic. The mouse wheel is a bit soft and moves rather quickly. I prefer mouse wheel to have a bit of resistance. Not sure if it will last long. The mouse in general is small and portable but DOES NOT have a slot for the usb adapter. So be careful with the usb adapter if you are switching between devices. Also it is light weight. some people might not the light feel of it. It is fine for me and my needs. So far it is new and it works. No other functions or buttons.

This is a great value mouse and I bought two for my daughters new Chromebooks. The build is sturdy but light and feels flimsy, but there's a very cool magnetic enclosure that will stand up to many battery changes without being clip-based and wearing over time. The dongle sticks out a little more than I'd hoped for a modern product. Reminds me of early wireless mouse dongles (its maybe 3/8 inch out from the side of the notebook) - It doesn't help that the dongle/receiver is BRIGHT BLUE for no apparent reason. It works well with basic scrolling, but I find myself wishing for horizonal scrolling or at least some kind of control button - My 7 and 9 year-olds dont care as much as I do so they'll use them well and enjoy. I think they'll survive the assignment too!

I thought that with all the advanced high tech nowadays, all wireless mouse are the same. But boy, was I wrong! I didn't care about wired or wireless mouse, so I bought a cheap wireless mouse on impulse but the click button acted up only after 2 weeks of use. I bought another cheap wireless mouse to replace that one and right out of the box, it was lagging more and more everyday that I couldn't stand it any more after a week so I returned to the store to buy a HP mouse since it was on sale about the same price like the cheap brands. And oh boy, the click, rolling, moving,.... are as smooth as butter that I return to the store to buy 2 more at sale price. Lesson learned: never buy a cheap mouse again!

A very well made product from HP, everything is included in the box to get you rolling right away. Setting it up was super easy and took less than a minute, installed the AAA batteries that are included in the package by removing the plastic cover from the bottom of the mouse and after that insert the USB receiver in to any open USB port on your computer, that's all you need to do in order for this mouse to work. As far as how the mouse functions it has a good feel in hand and the mouse movement is smooth and all the buttons have a good feel to it, overall i am very happy with this mouse.

LOVE this wireless mouse! I am using it with my laptop as I type this review. I've had it for several months and no complaints! Even my 2 yo has grabbed it (he sees the red laser light underneath) and tries to play with it, which at first I didn't want him to break it...but it was totally fine. I can immediately turn off the mouse with the switch underneath it when not in use and saves the battery. I have yet to change the battery since purchasing several months ago. My kids love using it while they use their learning games on the computer. Overall a good product! I reviewed and researched a ton before my purchase...and I am glad I did. No complaints here!

I had to get this mouse because I lost my other one. In comparison, this mouse is bigger. I think I may have prefered the smaller size of my previous mouse just for the easier portability but it's not too much of a problem. The real gripe I have with this is the USB dongle holder. On my previous mouse I could easily use my two fingers and grab the dongle to get it out. With this mouse, I can't do that. The only wait I can get it out is to shake the mouse of bang it on my hand to get it out. Other than that, it's been functioning fine. There were no set up issues and it's responded well to a variety of surfaces I've used it on.

I had this mouse only a short while before it died. Of course Best Buy doesn't support any products after 14 days, so I have tried twice to get HP support, but they are not interested. I suppose since it's not a high dollar laptop or something, they figure it's not worth taking care of. The mouse lights up red, the USB dongle is set up by Windows, MacOS, and Linux (tried on Manjaro, Kubuntu, and Solus), but it will not move the cursor no matter what I do. I have tried all listed procedures to sync the mouse and receiver.

I purchased this on a Best Buy deal of the day which was basically half price. It’s worth paying full price for this mouse. We had recently purchased a Mac at Thanksgiving and needed a mouse to use. The reviews about the slim size “apple” mouse and the cost made me look elsewhere for a normal style mouse that I could feel in my hand like those at every other computer I use on a daily basis. This has an on / off button on the bottom and Energizer batteries included. I simply just plugged the little thumb drive looking piece in my USB port and that was it, started working immediately.

I got this because when I called Microsoft about my mouse problem I was told that the whole problem was because it was not a Microsoft mouse and they could not help me. It did not solve my problem which turned out to be a driver problem but it turned out to be one of the best mice I have ever owned. My ownly problem is that I should have gotten a color other than black because it blends in to much with my recliner. I would definitely buy this mouse again.

This is a decent mouse and I got 2 of them for work because the price was really low and HP is a decent brand. The mouse is pretty good, but in my opinion not quite as good as the ones from Logitech and Microsoft. It does not move quite a smoothly across surfaces and feels like it is dragging a little bit. and does not feel quite as comfortable, I think mainly because it is all hard plastic and has no soft rubber. I would probably not want to use this mouse everyday, but for occasional use with a laptop (what I got it for) it is pretty good.

I use these mice on all of the video camera dvrs at home and at work. Right now I have four that are currently in use daily. The range is phenomenal to be able to use these in a totally different room from where the dvrs are. Keep a good battery in them like an energizer.. Duracell has seemed to consistently leak acid after a period of time when they get low.. I don't get it. The energizers have never done that. But the these are very good mice for basic everyday use. Comfortable in the palm for a medium sized hand.

Got this wireless Mouse because I wanted to lose the wire on my old one. Sadly after about two days this wireless one started to give problems, It was not going where I was sending it and after much reloading and resetting of my computer I realised it was the mouse not the laptop that was icky. Tried another mouse of my wife's that was wireless and that worked fine, as did my old wired mouse. So I then went back to this wireless one, and as I suspected its no good. Its going back to Best Buy when I am next in town.

This is actually a very precise and accurate mouse. The problem is that it might be too sensitive in some cases and also doesn't do as well on glossy surfaces. It's does pretty decently on a Dell XPS 13 7th gen Intel core but for some reason, I have some trouble on a MacBook Pro 2013 original OS. I bought it to use to control the computer from a distance while it's plugged in to a TV through HDMI. A cheaper Logitech mouse does better for me and doesn't have a bright red light under it.

I got this on sale for cheap when I bought my new laptop. It worked pretty good. You just plug the dongle in, turn it on, and you're good to go. It works as intended. The reason I only rated it a three is because it feels cheap and the buttons are really pretty stiff, especially the middle click. The accuracy is as good as you can expect from a cheap mouse. I have since replaced this with a Logitech Marathon which I would recommend over this one. It's a little more money, but you get what you pay for.

I bought this to pair with my laptop. It very easy to do . . . Simply add 2 AA batteries to the mouse, plug in the small mouse's USB adapter to one of the laptop's USB outlets, and voila! Instant mouse connection. The mouse, like all mouses, is easy to use with left and right-click buttons and a curser on the laptop or tablet screen that moves when one moves the mouse around on a mouse pad.

I only bought this mouse because I was looking for a cheap mouse that would get the job done since my old wired mouse had broken and was no longer functioning. After a few months using this mouse, I can definitely say that this thing is worth every penny. It feels solid, has a nice weight, lovely rubber sides and back, the mouse wheel is roughly textured, and the laser at the bottom of the mouse is invisible. Couldn't be happier with this purchase.
