Seems like a good replacement for tablet and computer. Great screen
Like having choice of touch screen or keyboard. It is very flat so it is early to travel with.

I love everything about it except the keyboard magnet detaches a little too easily. The expansion ports are great.

I returned the product after 4 weeks. The key board started to split at the folding points. HP needs to come up with a different type of material.

Let me start by saying that I am about as picky with my computers as the Kardashians are with their selfies. I (for so long) wanted the Surface Pro but could never justify paying the money for it. When I saw this in the store I was instantly taken by it. Since owning it I have found that it is powerful enough to run my games (not that its primary purpose is gaming), my Microsoft Office Products, and whatever else. The touch screen is friendly and responsive, the battery is more than capable of full-filling my needs on the go, the keyboard is AMAZING!!! I love the keyboard..LOVE LOVE LOVE. Now with that said take into account that when you first set up the computer its going to ask you to type a code into the keyboard to sync it with the tablet but no text will visually display as you type... its fine.. i assure you that it is entering in the code. The screen is beautiful and large... this tablet is a beast in terms of size.. its most definitely not a in the bed playing angry birds tablet. But I bought it for the size. The fact that the keyboard is magnetic and seals onto the tablet makes it great for transporting. For the price it is great but it will not meet the power and performance of a i5 or i7 based tablet (IE: the surface pro 3) but its not enough to make a huge difference. Overall the system is great and I would recommend it to anyone. I hope this helps a bit.

Within 1 yr I had to take it into Best Buy and they had to send off to HP for service. Luckily it was still under warranty. Sorry I just would like to go back to a regular laptop. Don't like the keyboard ...

Excellent Computer

I am very pleased with the computer. I love the feel of a tablet and computer together. Windows 8 was meant to be a touch screen. I would have given this a 5 if it wasn't for the Bluetooth keyboard giving me issues about 50% of the time. It won't connect, so I have to end up using the on screen keyboard. Overall I am very pleased. My kids and I can even use it to play board games.

Originally bought the Surface Pro 3 and returned it for this. I like the idea of this computer and the specs were better than the Pro. When I told the salesgirl I wanted this one she looked surprised/confused, like it wasn't a good choice. I inquired but she shrugged it off. I had to return the first one that I bought because the keyboard wouldn't pair! It turns out the code you are supposed to type in during the initial setup DOESN'T VISIBLY SHOW UP in the typing section leading you to believe it's not receiving it when it really is. The problem with this is once it tries 5 times it won't let you try again and you are unable to connect it later. I called tech support and they wanted me to send my brand new from the store laptop in to repair the issue, not even trying to troubleshoot, they were completely clueless. I figured it'd be faster to just exchange in-store. I've had good service with HP in the past which is why I stuck with them again but on this specific laptop, it is Best Buy exclusive and AS SUCH, is not a wide release laptop and tech support will have few answers for you when problems arise with it compared to a higher released model. This makes me very nervous going forward. My other complaints would be a) the audio - for being Beats, it's actually incredibly weak, I have to connect an external speaker. I thought the right side wasn't even working but it's just substantially quieter than the left in an attempt to create an artificial surround sound. Instead it leaves much to be desired. B) since it is a tablet, it is not easily expandable inside. The graphics card isn't as powerful as I would like and I can't update it, which is upsetting. And finally c) the back of the keyboard is CLOTH and gets dirty VERY EASILY! I had this 2 weeks and only moved it between my living room and bedroom and it is already stained! :\ So overall, it's a good computer, not great. Can DEFINITELY be improved upon.

This device really is unique, if you are one of the many Best Buy shoppers strolling through the computing devices and you can't decide on which one " fits" you best, I would offer up this as the jack of all trades.
Want great build quality? check out the aluminum body shell and superbly engineered folding detachable keyboard (its backlit), the keyboard can also be used detached up to 15ft apart !.
Want great battery life ? I am averaging 4+ hours of moderate use at FULL screen brightness, this is with NO NOISEY FAN it is cooled passively.
How is the screen ? Excellent IPS Full HD, The 15.6 " size makes it sufficiently large to double as a Desktop , makes it a compelling alternative to the "other" all-in-one PC's .
The touch functionality really comes into its own when using it as a tablet, there is also a storage loop on the keyboard for a stylus.
Sound quality is remarkable, these speakers cannot produce low bass notes, but there are 4 drivers and the sound quality makes a statement.
The folding easel type stand is a copy of the Microsoft Surface Pro design, and it works superbly, adjust to any angle on your lap or your desk.
Performance is very good, I would say its quick, not blazing fast.
It performs at every level , there are no deficiencies, The value is there when you weigh in the multiple things that it does so well.

Nice portable machine!

First off I am not an HP fan. I have not been in a long time. That being said this machine is well made and functions well. I am not a fan of a great deal of pre-loaded software. This machine however does not have a great deal of that. I did not have to spend time to get get rid of unwanted programs. I use this machine to travel to and from work. It give the full OS dive with the portability of a tablet. It functionality also serves as a tablet as well. It works great for training and presenting information to a group.

Someone mentioned a lit keyboard, the one I purchased has no such option. I do have an issue with how the computer interacts with a logitech wireless trackball. It seems that setting the display to turnoff is problematic even when the wireless receiver is setup to not wake up the computer. I currently have the setting on 25 min when plugged in, sometimes the display will turnoff in 25 min and sometimes it will take up to twice that long. If the display turnoff is set for one hour the display won't turnoff at all, set between 30 min and an hour is a crapshoot. When the trackball receiver is unplugged from the USB port the display turnoff seems to function properly.
The logitech wireless trackball (M570) does function properly when used in other PC/Notebook/Tablets that run on the MS Windows 8.1 OS.

Good laptop for economy section

This thing has a few misgivings, but I think the pluses outweigh the shortcomings.
The display is as wide as an economy seatback tray and has good resolution. With the keyboard that folds back on itsself, you still get work done in economy.
Nice, but not incredible batter life. The keyboard detaches and can be used via bluetooth, which is a cool idea that I haven't found a use for yet.
the misgivings: didn't ship with a stylus. It occasionally comes back to life with the web cam on, which I find very weird. The caps lock seems to be too close to the shift, I'm hitting it accidentally all the time. There is no "end" key and no "pagedown" key.

I got this one as a result of me killing my Sony Vaio. I think I rushed my decision. Its a great computer for someone who doesn't use it every single day. I'm not a movie buff so I would not use it for that but for heavy graphics card use and heavy multimedia manipulation. it gets hot fast and no backlit keyboard. No LAN port. I don't want to give it a low rating because so far (one day) its worked great but the Bluetooth keyboard is moody. Glad I have 45 days to try it out.

This is a very good laptop for the money and what you get. The touch screen is great and the keyboard is very well made. I would suggest this unit for someone that wants a tablet but a decent laptop in the same package.

Great versatile Laptop/Tablet

I bought this computer for school and pleasure and its perfect. I'm a bigger guy so I appreciate the bigger screen and components. Using it as a traditional on-your-lap laptop could be a struggle for those with smaller frames (buy the 13" envy 2 in 1). I'm 6'4" and about 240 lbs, just to give you an idea. I agree with the reviews, this is not a drawing tablet. The surface would probably be a better option. One thing I did do to improve this 2 in 1 is I bought a wireless mouse and it makes a huge difference for when you are using it on a table or desk.
I would recommend this product. Good luck out there!

This tablet hybrid perfectly fits my needs. It has a very large screen that's crystal clear and beautiful, along with lots of storage. I'm a touch typist - the keyboard is the best I've seen on any recent laptop or tablet. It folds so you're positioned closer to the screen. Another nice feature is that the kickstand has two modes of operation. One stand the tablet up, almost vertically, the other allows you to lay the tablet flat on a desk's surface and tilt it slightly in your direction - MUCH more appropriate for meetings than the walls people put up when they open their laptops.
This computer is designed for an executive. It is engineered superbly. I love it.

This computer is the perfect mix of a full scale laptop and a tablet. I love the detachable keyboard, the ability to use a stylus or my finger and the screen size. I have had it for two weeks. I was on the fence about buying it but now I love it!
