Terrible printer; not worth the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having owned several HP Photosmart printers, this is the worse product I've used. It gets one star only because it prints okay with normal inkjet paper. Forget trying to get it to print on photograph paper or any multimedia paper. It makes horrific grinding sounds and indicates "paper" or shoots out the blank paper. So unhappy with this product but I don't have the original container because I trusted the HP name and threw away the box.

I wouldn't buy another.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It necessitated over 90 minutes on the phone and four different HP reps to finally resolve the issue of being able to scan to email using the printer itself (not the computer). As it turns out, the 4th HP rep that I spoke with stated that the registry files needed to be tweaked in order for this function to work. Really? Really. And what average person knows how to do this? Yeahhhh...never again.

Difficult and Frustrating
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I always buy HP and expected this to be fine. I can get it to print one thing, then I get an error code. The error code is not fixable with the HP Doctor, so I have to unplug it. Then it tells me that I didn't shut it down correctly. No kidding. I reset it and magically it prints something fine. Then the next thing is an error. No clue what it's problem is. Also, the paper jams and I can't fully take the tray out. I hate the touch screen, there is no way to get it out of the error screen. This is for my business and adding huge amounts of stress. Can't even find the driver updates. All that used to be so easy with HP, now I feel like I have to be an IT person to figure this thing out.

Terrible Photo Quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This printer was to replace an HP Photosmart C309g which needed a new printhead, the cost of which is over $70. I figured a new printer would be the better way to go. The Photosmart printed THE BEST quality pictures that I've ever seen from a non-professional source. The HP Envy 5540 looks great and set-up was a breeze. HOWEVER, the photo quality is extremely poor. Pictures are a tad blurry and the colors just aren't rich enough for my liking. The printer was returned.

ok for overall printing, copies or scanning
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Liked this printer but is useless for photo printing. Wouldn'the print correct 5x7 size no matter what I tried. Went through the tricolor cartridge after printing about 10 photos. Now looking for a new printer with longer color life

Driver problem makes functionality useless
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the printer and installed it with no problems. The driver controlled the printer just fine. One day a couple of months later, the printer disappeared from my laptop. I downloaded the HP Print and Scan Doctor. It changed the driver. Now the printer cannot automatically duplex or use the photo tray. I chatted with support for over 2 hours. They could not fix the problem. In the end, they just hung up on me without resolving the problems. So, it might as well not have the functionality at all.

can't make it print
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The salesman said that he helped his 82 year old grandmother set one up. Well, he didn't come and help me and it just wouldn't work. So we returned it, got another plus paid $100 for Geek Squad to come out and install it. It worked that day and stopped. I was able to print three pictures from my phone, but that was it. Now we will take it back and try a different brand of printer. So unless his 82 year old grandmother shows up to make this stupid thing work, it is useless to me.

Waste of money!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This printer is by far, THE WORST printer I have WVER purchased from HP! It disconnects itself after every print job. I have talked to support THREE times and the printer still doesn't connect to all devices. It worked for ONE DAY. Was told the printer had to be within 20 ft of router even though I have a wifi extender downstairs. With my old HP, the router was nowhere near the printer and it worked. DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER!

Not Worth the frustrations!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This printer (HP5540) will NOT hold the wireless connection. I have spent well over one hour with HP Technical Support. They could not solve the problem - well they temporally solved the problem but it only lasts for a day or two. Not worth it! Stay Away!
