Thought it would be no hassle
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The printer is a great printer when it works. When we try to print anything that is not in word or excel, the printer will not print. Not sure if it is because of something we did or didn't do to register or whatever. If we cut and paste what we need printed into word, it works fine. If it is something to be printed on line, not so great.

Great printer!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Found this online and price matched it. The setup was super easy and the features it has makes it a steal! We had to put it in a tight space and the profile was just narrow enough to fit. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who needs a printer.

Needed a simple, basic printer, meets all my needs
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a basic printer for a small office computer. It is very easy to load paper and change ink. It is quiet compared to my old printer. I wish it perhaps went a little faster, but honestly it works just fine for what I need. The quality of the copies is good.

Pay the nine bucks for Geek Squad support
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This printer works fine - once you get it connected & set up. Do NOT believe the “easy installation” nonsense, not if you have Win 10 anyway. Win “anything else but 10” it may connect fine, I don’t know. It gives instructions for all older Windows versions but not Win 10. Maybe once HP realizes what a pain it is to connect to a Win 10 machine they’ll make it easier, I don’t know. Meanwhile..... I got this from Best Buy because I already knew I was going to need the Geek Squad to get it working from a previous attempt with another printer & I could buy Geek Support when I bought it through Best Buy. Pay the nine bucks & get Geek support! Unless you’re a “geek” you’ll probably never be able to get it connected to a Win 10 computer. I’m not an idiot but I’m not a geek either. It took a Geek three hours (counting waiting online) to get it to print from my desktop machine & my laptop. I have Geek Squad support on both machines. I used to be able to do most things with no problem – until Win 10 came along. Not any more. Setting up the printer & getting it aligned & printing/copying was easy – I just couldn’t get it connected to a computer. A few days later I tried to scan a page with it. It wouldn’t scan. Back to the Geek Squad online. Scanning is a whole different setup, apparently. They worked on it for another hour or two & got it scanning. I actually needed it to scan something a few weeks later – and it wouldn’t work again. Back to the Geek Squad. After a few more hours they got it working properly. Like I said, pay the nine bucks. By the time the Geeks got this thing working right it took at least five hours, easily worth the money. No way I could do it myself. Now that it’s working properly it does a good job, but it’s much slower than our old HP that was connected by wire to the desktop machine. It takes a while for this thing to get connected each time & start printing, scanning, or whatever. The old one was much faster but it finally died after 15 years, that’s why we got this one. It took about ten minutes to hook up the old one & it worked fine right away. After the third Geek worked on this one I learned that it will not scan if I tell it to from the computer, the computer can’t find the printer. The printer has a dinky little touch screen on the front & you have to run the scan part from that. The printer can find the computers, but the computers can’t find the printer. They can find it fine for PRINTING, but not for SCANNING. I have no idea why that is but that’s how it works. BTW, the last Geek told me everything has to go through my router, the printer has no Bluetooth that he could find. Once it connects it will send the scanned ‘whatever’ to either machine, you just have to choose which one to send it to. (And wait for it to connect.) It’s handy to be able to send scans to either computer & print from either one but it wasn’t “easy installation” by any stretch of the imagination. There is all sorts of things it will supposedly do, it has it’s own email address & supposedly I can send an email to it from my smart phone (that I don’t own, no need for one) & tell it to print stuff out from wherever I am. Apparently it will do all sorts or wonderful things (that I don’t care about) if I sign up for “HP Something or Other”. Personally I’m not interested in having my life revolve around a stupid printer, all I want it to do is PRINT & SCAN - from right here. That was more than enough trouble. All in all, it works well now & it was really inexpensive compared to the old one (the old one was close to $400, this one was on sale for $75 brand new, which was five bucks LESS than two ink cartridges for the old one!) Just be sure to pay the nine bucks for Geek support & be prepared to spend a few hours online chatting with a Geek before you plan to use it if you have Win 10. I would have given it four stars if it wasn’t such a nuisance to get it connected properly. There's no "maybe" under 'would you recommend this to a friend' & since it does work well now I nswered "yes", "maybe" would have been better.
