    Wireless, really?

I have had a few HP "network" printers and this being the latest it follows in the same footsteps as the past HP "network" printers - they fail to connect and/or maintain a WiFi connection. Usually after HP starts sending down patches / updates and as windows sends down updates it gets more and more difficult for the machine to maintain a WiFi connection. I end up having to direct USB connect it to my office desktop computer, then everyone in my family with laptops can no longer print to it because it is USB direct to my office computer. I have spent hours on top of hours trying to fix WiFi connections on HP printers. I usually just trash them after a few months and get a new one which will stay connected for 6 months, then repeat the cycle of buying a new one, connecting to WiFi, fails on WiFi after a few months, trash it, get a new one, etc... Very disappointing, but cheap printers. So now instead of wasting 3 hours of my time to try and fix, I drop $70/$80 on a new one and I am good for another 6 months. It's a horrible business model, but it makes HP a lot of money.

    Going Back to The Store

I have always had good luck with HP printers until this one. The reviews made it sound like a reasonable machine but reality suggests otherwise. After installing drivers and configuring it to run from a Windows 7 computer and a MAC Book Pro, I soon discovered that it is an interminably slow printer. "Normal" time for a one-pager was up to 30 minutes. Those were the good times because now it won't print at all from any computer.

    Forget it

Nothing but a hassle. It will work initially. Then go to sleep. At that point you'll spend hours trying to figure out if it is your printer, drivers, router, etc. I've updated everything under the sun. Help pages will tell you to cycle it off and on. It will work and you'll consider keeping it. Don't. Forget it. If you bought it and just reading this, sorry for your hassle. If you haven't bought it yet, then heed my warning.

    Garbage, Simply Garbage

Ive always been a loyal HP Customer and have always found their products work great and do their job respectably. However, after buying this printer on sale during back to school weekend at my local best buy, I get home only to endure a 3 hour long install process involving 3 hours on the phone with HP Technical support in India. The so called Windows 10 drivers HP had didnt work with Windows 10 64bit Professional. The printer when finally installed would only accept 8.5" x 11" paper, the printer would NOT recognize the Photo tray. Than shortly after getting the install finalized the printer would randomly reinstall Ink Cartridges or would NOT recognize my cartridges. HP replaced it free of charge and thee same problem persisted. Spoke with Mara at my local best buy (Amazing person I might add) she got me all squared away and I have since purchased a different printer that actually works 100% of the time and doesnt have any of the issues the HP had. Sorry HP you dropped the ball with THIS piece of junk you call a Printer. I doubt ill ever go back to using HP ever again.

    Paper jam error

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The printer itself was easy to set up, but I can't review how it works because it wouldn't print anything after spitting out the first (and only) test page. We would constantly get "there's a jam in the printer" popping up on the display only to find no paper jam anywhere. We went over the thing with flashlights and a fine-tooth comb each time it gave us the error and never found anything out of place. We tried replacing the ink, adding more paper, adding less paper, changing the paper, using paper from a different ream, using different brands of paper... Same results each time. Either the printer we purchased came pre-broken or HP is (unsurpsingly) still churning out expensive paper weights that don't work half of the time. Buy a Cannon instead.

Poor operating software ruins a good printer

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is the 5th HP printer I have owned; all previous ones were well made and easy to use. This printer is well made; however the operating software is set up so poorly, it ruins the effectiveness of the printer. The paper sizing selection is very confusing and several selections in various locations must be changed when going from photo to document or other sizes of paper. These changes are not intuitive and missing one will result in no printing or printing on the wrong size paper.

Wish I had bought something else

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this after reading all the reviews, and best buy had it on sale for a great price. I just needed a basic printer for printing standard documents, and once in a while a photo or two. This printer won't do any of those well. EVERY time I need to print, the print comes out looking like the cartridges are dried up. Doesn't matter if I use genuine cartridges or not. I don't print a ton of things, but maybe once a week. Won't be buying another HP if this is how well they work.

    Cheap price, cheap quality

Very low quality. Scanner broke just after the one-hear manufacturer's warranty ran out. I'm keeping it until we use up the expensive printer cartridges, then I'm off in search of a printer that will last more than one year.

If I could choose zero stars I would!! Had to return 2 of these printers b/c of a defect with the ink cartridge. I can get one but two with the same issue?!?! Will not be getting HP products again! Plus had the inconvience of buying ink cartridges that got chewed up and Best Buy wouldn't give a refund. Poor products and customer service!

Printer only works on internet with 2.4 connection, not on 5g. Makes no sense, they should warn you. I do not use my 2.4 as it is not 2010. Would not have purchased of I knew I had to turn on lower quality wifi connection.

    Do Not Buy!!!!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Do not buy an HP5660 Envy printer from Best Buy. First the ink cartridge wasn't good and I immediately had to go buy ink for a brand new printer. When I called Best Buy they pretty much said tough luck buddy. Now it never connects to the computer and constantly has errors. The computer says it prints but nothing prints. What a piece of junk. Never had problems with my old Dell.....Hint hint. HP and Best Buy lost my business forever. GOODBYE!!!!

Impossible to hook up the WIFI. 0nly buy this if you're interested in spending hours and hours in frustration. Perhaps it can actually happen, but it isn't worth the frustration in finding out how to get through all of the bugs. Whatever the error is, it is not clear how to get past it, and I refuse to get someone on the phone. It's 2016, and things should just be easy. It's going back ....

    Horrible printer

This printer is horrible. Constantly says it's out of paper, needs alignment, the ink needs to be cleaned... it is so unreliable. It'll print partial content with missing lines or sections of whatever you're printing.
