I needed a good, reliable laptop for a new job I just got. I ordered it online because I needed Windows 7 for my job and all the stores only had Windows 8. So far, I am so happy with it. I love the fingerprint reader and the keyboard that lights up. The sound is excellent. It has many different ports and has lots of memory and speed. When the laptop arrived, my daughter pointed out that this was the exact laptop that she bought a year ago, and she has not had any problems with hers either. Even though it's refurbished, it works like a charm. I would recommend this to anyone.

This is my first laptop, but this laptop is pretty good. I actually bought it for the Windows 7 because Windows 8 is just not for me. Some things that I thought were pretty cool were the fingerprint scanner, voice control, and touch pad. Now, I don't usually work on laptops, but the fingerprint scanner is really cool (not to mention convenient). I have different programs and functions set to it and it just makes my life a whole lot easier whenever I need to log in. Voice control would be the best thing ever, except with me it only works when I'm in almost complete silence. Too bad about that cause talking to your laptop and telling it to do things is really awesome. Took a while though to get used to using it. The touch pad isn't really all that special but i just like the way it feels. My friends don't care for it because I guess their laptops aren't like that, but I really enjoy it. The texture is great for me to tell where on the pad I'm touching. Though, I didn't say that the speakers were great, they are pretty good. I'm still playing around with the audio settings so its not the best that it can be just yet. Overall, this laptop is pretty good and I am proud to call it mine.

This is a great product. I can logon quickly. It always performs great for me. My Granddaughter was visiting and we allowed her to skype to talk with her parents in California. The picture and volume worked very well from it.

I'm generally wary of purchasing refurbished hardware. However, I don't like and don't want a Windows 8 laptop - this led to my search for another Windows 7 laptop, even if that meant purchasing a refurb. The m6-1045dx has the specs I was looking for. The fact that this item was Geek Squad Certified Refurbished made me a little more comfortable, because if there was an issue I could take it to the Geek Squad at my local Best Buy rather than deal with offshore tech support or ship it to who knows where. So I took a chance on the refurb and ordered online at bestbuy.com (free shipping !!). Order was placed on Thursday evening, shipment confirmation/tracking info email was received on Friday morning, and laptop was delivered on Monday afternoon. Ship to store was not available, so I shipped the item to my home. Plugged in the power brick and fired up the laptop - booted up right away and went through the standard initial configuration. Downloaded some updates from Microsoft and HP, spent a couple of hours setting things up how I like them, and started putting this laptop through its paces. Weight is good for a 15.6" laptop, and feels sturdy. Excellent processing speed from the Intel Core i5. Love the backlit keyboard. Although the keys feel a bit squishy compared to my other HP laptop, they still allow for quick typing. Touchpad is responsive and accurate, and automatically disables when a mouse is plugged in. SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports allow for very fast data transfer. The Beats Audio is underwhelming when playing music through the laptop speakers, but comes alive when I plug in my earbuds or my Logitech Z313 Speakers. I love the HP SimplePass feature, it's perfect for biometric logins. Webcam is ok, but it's not something I use frequently so I can live with ok. Battery life isn't the best, but better than I expected with the power management settings I use. Despite heavy use, laptop stays cool and fan noise is minimal. Haven't tried out the WiDi, as I don't have a WiDi adapter for my HDTV. Geek Squad Refurbs only carry a 90 day warranty, so I worked this laptop hard for the first ten weeks to insure I wasn't going to find any surprises after 90 days. Everything works as it should, and I'm very pleased with the performance. Bottom line - this is an excellent, like new HP m6-1045dx at a great price.

    Low Price, High Power.

Firstly, before I talk about the product itself; I just want to say that it was well worth the price. I come from a relatively poor area, so buying laptops that have high performance and good specs is a rarity. But I know a lot about computers so do not let this discourage you from my review: First off, the price is fantastic. Well worth it. I cannot believe how lucky I struck when getting this. As mentioned above, this is the best computer I have ever owned. While yes, there are computers such as Alienware and Asus gaming laptops with far more superior specs, but they are extremely pricey and I never would have been able to afford one. This laptop though, is actually pretty good for gaming and VERY affordable. I play Guild Wars 2 on High Quality settings (Ultra is a little choppy but could be ignored), with good framerate and little lag. Some Free to Play games from Steam are also played at the highest settings. In fact, the only games I had to play on default and even low settings was Assassin's Creed Revelations and Planetside 2. Even on low settings though I am impressed with the graphics and I rarely experience lag. I cannot believe how powerful this computer is for the price. Defiantly worth it. 8GB of RAM is its default but it can be upgraded to 16GB. I see no reason in getting more RAM though, it runs perfectly fine and does not freeze even when I have multiple memory consuming programs up. For the first time ever, I am able to watch HD 1080p video on YouTube without the graphics card limiting me down to 360p. I am extremely happy with this because I can do things I couldn't do before on previous machines. I understand some of you may not like that it is Intel HD 4000 graphics instead of something cooler like the Nvidia Geforce GTX, but don't let it discourage you. The graphic card may not be the best in the market, but it has made me happy with being able to play things in high quality and HD. This computer was not specifically built for gaming, but I think it makes a good one if you are looking for affordable. All of the F number keys are actually shortcuts. While everyone may be use to pressing F5 to refresh their browser page, this laptop's F5 turns the back light keyboard on or off. It has taken me time to get use to the changes there, but it is really nice when you can't find the keys in the dark and you can just press F5 to light them up. Other F number keys have other shortcuts like F12 can turn the internet connector of the laptop on or off. They keys can also be used to turn up or down the volume of your computer, mute it, or brighten/dim the display. Speaking of volume, the audio is incredible! It features Beats stereos. You know, that brand that charge $100-$300 for their headsets? The laptop's internal speakers are Beats audio. It is such a nice addition to a laptop that already seems flawless to me, now I can listen to high quality movies and music on the go and hear everything that comes through the speakers. Before this laptop, I usually just put earbuds in, now I can't stand to have them in my ears when I know there is better quality instead of them. Finally, I just want to say; thanks to the manufactures for sticking with Windows 7 for this computer. In fact, the reason I found this computer was because I was looking for a Windows 7 operating system. I have seen Windows 8 and have played around with it before, but I didn't care much for it. It being Windows 7 and having an affordable price with some good specs finally made me want to buy it. The reviews made me nervous on top of it being refurbished, but I am so glad I got it. One person said it was too expensive for what you got, I completely disagree. I have never had better luck with shopping for a computer. Refurbished might make some of you nervous, but let me put your mind at ease by saying you can return it within the 90 days of getting it if you are unhappy with it or something may be wrong with it. The worst part about the computer for me? Was waiting for it to come in the mail! Seriously, consider buying this, especially if you are on a budget. I am more than happy with what I got and I hope you can say the same!

refurb unit had several issues right out of box

when the unit was taken out of box, keyboard key tops were starting to come off on several keys (f12 most obvious) in addition when I went to set it up, the right mouse button on the touchpad did not work properly (only one very specific area it might work with). As a result I had to send it for warranty service (only given 90 days since refurb), the repair center has had the unit now for about 3 weeks, and has moved the repair status back and forth on the needed parts. I am VERY displeased with the unit being poorer than expected quality out of the box, and VERY disappointed in the overall repair process taking so long for what should be minor parts. I required the windows 7 and i5 processor and 8GB memory for what I intended to use it for. As such I would not buy or recommend a refurb unit to anyone in the future.

We were very excited when we found this refurbished, Geek Squad certified, HP laptop on the website. It had nearly everything we were looking for. Our excitement however turned to disappointment when the battery would not charge. We didn't want to give up on it so we went online in the hope of finding some help. The fix we found and subsequently performed did not fix the problem. At that point we had no other choice but to return the computer. The Geek Squad certification failed us and has left us very wary of any electronics labeled 'refurbished'.

We had a poor experience with purchasing a refurbish product from Best Buy. Spent more than a half day at Best Buy trying to work out the problem with the laptop. Eventually came back home without the computer. Was told I could trade it for one of equal value but some one ended up crediting it back to my card. So we had to start all over with a new one that unfortunately had windows 8.

I have found NOTHING wrong with this laptop. The fact it even got a low review from someone seems unbelievable in my opinion. I have got this laptop for schoolwork, video games, and video editing purposes. It was very affordable and it was worth every penny. It probably should have cost more how good the specs are and everything. I have been spending the past few days trying to figure out what it can and can't do. So far, I have found nothing that it cannot conquer. Maybe given more time, it will reach it's limits on things but as of right now it as ran up every slope I direct it to without a sweat. It runs perfect with just 8GB of RAM and I don't think I will be going to 16GB because it has been performing so well. It has a backlit keyboard that you can turn on or off at anytime by pressing F5 and other shortcuts like that through all of the F number keys. Online games like Tribes Ascend, Mass Effect, and Warframe have been played at the highest settings available and the lowest framerate I ever achieved on any of those games was 18. It runs games well and plays HD videos I make perfectly. Adobe programs such as After Effects and Photoshop haven't even slowed the machine down. HitFilm 2 Ultimate runs perfect as well. I have yet to find a single problem with this PC and I HIGHLY recommend you buy it if you are on a budget but want something good.

I was pretty skeptical when it arrived. Packaged so badly that I was afraid to fire it up. But, it fired up greatly and it is an amazing machine. 1st, when I work I like to have my music. This audio system the laptop has is fantastic. You have one long speaker running all along the length of the laptop. A nice little added bass boost on the bottom of the machine. It is very light, I like that because i am not stuck in one place. Thank God for Win7 being available. I will be adding some more memory to this machine as soon as I can, but it runs great, everything works, it is fast, and it will work fine for all my work (and play) needs. I do a lot of video editing and this is going to be just right for that! I also love the back-lit keyboard and shortcut buttons. Social media is already fun.
