I had my eye other more expensive HP envy models but thought I would take a chance on this great buy. I cashed in some rewards points so it made it a steal. So far no real issues with it, had it almost a month now. Light scuffs on the top when I received it, was disappointed but reminded myself that it was refurbished. Other issue is the touchpad buttons..since there is no divider between the left and right click numerous times I have tried to right click and then accidentally left click on it. Moving items around on the screen also becomes tedious when trying to hold down the left click and moving the item on the screen with the touchpad - it just isn't a smooth process. So I opted for a wireless mouse and no longer worry about those issues. Thought I might miss not having a CD drive but haven't had a need for it yet, I think I'll get by without it just fine. Battery life is ok (haven't timed it, sorry), I have had other computers that last longer but it is still better than what I was working with previously! Otherwise, a great buy and would recommend buying it to others!

This laptop feels very well made. In my humble opinion looks good and it performs well. However, there were some things that I didn't like. Like many thin laptops if you play certain games this thin laptop gets very, VERY hot and shutdown. This happened to me when I was playing Hawken on line. Also, there is no Windows 8 COA (certificate of authenticity) on the laptop anywhere. Without having a set of restore disks (that have the COA) and without having an internal DVD writer. I am worried that I can't get this thing adequately backed up. Bottom line, this is a great laptop that I would NOT recommend.

An excellent laptop in this price range. Feature like back-lit keyboard, clickpad, beats audio in 380$!!! Awesome!!! AND the shipping was good. Packaging was good enough. Performance of AMD A10 is remarkable!!! I'd definitely recommend this product from geek squad.

If you are looking a laptop that look good, process fast, great use for work, college/university and could play most modern game with out having to spent over $400 but would mind it a refurbished laptop that originally cost $600+ then this is really worth it.

The integratred gpu died after a year. It was a very bad experience, but honestly i should've known better than to buy HP. All my HP laptops have died from overheating.

I searched around online for a decent laptop for a good price for my girlfriend and found this. I was a bit skeptical on the refurbished part of it but so far it works just fine. If you are trying to spend less than 1000 on a laptop I suggest this one.

Price is great you get a extremely good deal Though the laptop looks used and has some sv ratches in the outside

This is the best purchase I've ever made. I didn't have the charger issue some have mentioned, so that's a plus. I've had no lag or battery issues and I use it around 8hrs a day. For work and play. I'm in the IT field, and Windows was a must for my new job, and I was so used to using Linux. Windows 8 has a strong learning curve but if you download classic shell it's not much different from Windows 7. All in all you can't beat this purchase, an 800 dollar machine for 400 bucks. Yes, please.

I have this laptop for about one week now. Best labtop I ever purchased hands down. It is an incredible deal. More performance them your probably gonna ever need for regular everyday use. Great processor very snappy, great screen, great build quality, clear sound from the speakers, even has a backlit keyboard which was a major deal sealer for me. My previous labtop didn't have a backlit keyboard so at night it wasnt friendly to use. This labtop doesnt have a CD drive and that did bother me but I got over it because its such a good deal and when I sat down and thought about it I never really used the disc drive in my previous HP envy labtop and that labtop had a blueray drive. I went back to best buy and brought a LG slim external CD drive for 40 bucks problem solved. With no added weight of the CD drive this laptop is extremely light for its size but never does it feel cheap. I urge anyone buying this to swap out the hardrive for a SSD major performance increases. The HHD the labtop comes with is slow and holds the laptop back. With the SSD.the labtop turns from off to running windows 8.1 in 3 seconds my only issue with this labtop is the trackpad it has alot of gestures so you find yourself constantly adjusting yours fingers because the pointer isnt responding or its just doing something totally different..to solve that minor issue I got an external Logitech mouse. Computer has great battery life also.. for the price you wont find a better deal. Also get an SSD !!! You wont regret it.

I got some misinformation from the store employee when I was about to purchase another laptop. I was disappointed to find this laptop had no cd drive. Nonetheless, for a refurbished item I can not complain. I'm a big fan of the Envy and for the most par I'm very happy.

Best laptop ever. For the price this is absolute highway robbery! This is the first time I have ever written a review. SO that should tell you how strongly I feel about this laptop. First don't ever rely on reviews, most people are negative and I went against two reviews on my Samsung Galaxy Note 2014 & this laptop!!! I am glad I went against both reviews because I love it....For the price this laptop packs a punch, but does not hurt your wallet. I have to admit i was skeptical of the Geek squad certified refurbished but my girlfriend talked me into...And I am glad I listened. Outstanding keys, smooth and accurate, backlit keys which is outstanding, quadcore AMD A10 which can compete with anything up to I7 intel core. Processor is 2.1 but can go up to 2.9 w already installed turbo boost. Don't make a mistake and miss out...Get it before its gone...IM OUT

I received this laptop as a gift yesterday. Within 6 hours of having it the laptop suddenly shut down and would not power back on. HP told me I had to return it to Best Buy, so off to Best Buy I went. Originally they told me I would have to have it repaired and that it would take about 21 days. Needless to say this made me less than happy and after some complaining they allowed me to use the purchase price of this item toward a different HP they had in stock. Even more than the laptop dying within hours of receiving it, this experience makes me iffy about recommending the refurbished model to a friend. On the plus, while it worked the graphics were fairly nice. I could run games such as WoW and Fallout New Vegas in high settings. I loved the feel of the keyboard and the backlit keys are great for me since I prefer low lighting. Windows 8 took a little getting used to, but I found it really nice once I got the hang of it. This model does not have a touch screen, but since I had a decent scroll mouse I did not find myself missing that feature. If it hadn't died, and if BB hadn't given me issue about returning it (literally the morning after I received and within 4 days of it being purchased) I probably would have given this machine a 4 star overall review. I did rate the individual categories based on my experience prior to machine death.

I love my HP ENVY. It starts up super fast, runs smoothly, the speakers are AMAZING. I upgraded to 16gbs ram and runs even smoother. I can run computer games no problem, and watch movies in HD via Netflix. The screen is amazing, and I love the backlit keyboard.

I was given this laptop as a replacement by Bestbuy and have been quite happy with it. This computer has all the features a college student needs; camera, nice battery life, and it can do a variety of things. I use it mainly for college and haven't had any issues installing any programs onto it. Windows 8 takes getting used to but there are ways around it. The hp software never seems to be an issue. This laptop does a nice job of handling multiple programs at once ( Internet with 5 tabs, Word and Excel open at once) and I have done some light gaming without many issues at all( on low/ medium settings) I would recommend this to any student heading to college, except engineers probably. Beats gives good sound for a laptop.

I use this laptop for a regular day to day use. So far, there has been no problems. Everything is great and there doesn't seem to be a lot of crapware that comes with it. The speed is great, and I have not experienced any freezing yet. The only thing I would complain about is the speaker. I found myself having to crank up the volume to 60-90 for a decent volume. I love how it is a beats speaker but it would be better if it could be louder. I especially noticed the difference from my last HP pavilion speaker. However for a the price this laptop is definitely a bang for the buck.

Just bought this laptop, it is really good and clean! Only thing is I don't understand why it dosent run a ps2 or wii emulator good as I wud expect it to :( and idk why...it runs other PC games good tho

get it before its gone...you wont regret it...the best laptop I had so far...and I had a lot...and it plays any game I throw at it...and it handles it perfect...don't listen to the other reviews...go for it

I FOUND THIS DEAL ONLINE AND READ THE REVIEWS. MOST WERE REALLY GOOD. EXCEPT FROM THE PERSON THAT DID NOT GET THE RIGHT PLUG IN CORD. WELL I THOUGHT HOW OFTEN CAN THAT HAPPEN? WELL I MUST HAVE BEEN NUMBER 2. YEP MY POWER CORD WAS WRONG. SO I CALLED BEST BUY AND THEY TOLD ME NO PROBLEM WE CAN SEND YOU OUT A NEW REPLACEMENT OR YOU CAN GO TO THE STORE. WELL WE CHOSE THE STORE AS I WANTED TO USE MY COMPUTER NOW. WE WENT TO BEST BUY AND OF COURSE THEY DID NOT HAVE A CORD IN THE SECOND MARKET THAT WOULD FIT THIS COMPUTER. SO I THROUGH A FIT. I WAS NOT GOING TO LEAVE THE STORE LIKE THE OTHER PERSON DID. I DID FINALLY GET THEM TO GIVE ME THE CORD FROM THE DISPLAY MODEL IN THE STORE. SO I AM HAPPY THAT BEST BUY CAME THROUGH AND I AM REALLY HAPPY WITH THIS DEAL OF A LIFETIME. A SMOKIN COMPUTER FOR UNDER 400 DOLLARS! THANKS BEST BUY.....

Overall this is a very good computer. Tons of memory, great graphics, and very quick response time. Windows 8 takes a little getting used to but works great once you get the hang of it. The only thing I'm not totally satisfied with is the quality of speakers.

It might seem like a good buy, but there is a chance you will receive a complete piece of garbage. In my case the computer would not even charge. And it randomly shut off. Also the mouse and keyboard had issues. I recommend you save your money and the hassle.
