The two negatives regarding this printer are the size and the noise level. It is nearly twice the size as my Xerox black and white printer, and the noise gets fairly loud when the printer is win operation. Other than that, it has been a fantastic addition to my office. It spools very quickly and time to first page printing is minimal. It is a very fast color printer with great print quality.

My Samsung C543dn finally had an issue with one of the developers and fixing the related issues was going to cost more than I paid for the printer. So time to look for a new one. I stopped buying inkjet years ago due to printhead issues, etc., and switched to color laser, which is more expensive up front. And the M553dn is very expensive up front, especially when buying with a full set of cartridges (especially when compared to my original cost for the Samsung printer on sale). However, after installing and using for several months, I will say it looks like it is worth the expense. The HP M553 is a little larger than my previous printer, but is silent when idle and very quiet when printing. The print quality is excellent, but the speed (especially first page out after initial warm-up) is even more impressive. I have it sitting on the network at home and enjoy the duplexing (which is always a requirement feature for me). Even the duplex print speed is very good. I read numerous reviews on multiple printer manufactures before selecting and this new HP design seemed to be the best choice for me. So far, the printer has lived up to the excellent reviews have read. The new toner design is suppose to have a notable effect on cost. First the power consumption specs are down, and I can say there are no light flickers when the machine warms up (as this did for the smaller Samsung printer). And the idle power level is also much lower, but again it has a super fast warm-up and first page print from idle. The toner cartridges are expensive (especially for home use), but the new toner design is suppose to produce more pages and reduce the per page cost (and if specs hold up should make this a lower cost printer over its life). I picked up the M553 while it was on sale at Best Buy, and there was an HP special running on buying the toner with the printer (20% discount) so I picked up one of each. I decided to go with the lower toner capacity level, as the higher level was not as discounted, and for my use a full set of spare cartridges should last for a number of years.

I previously had a color printer that ate toner running thru a "quality control" every time it warmed up from "sleep". I finally kept it awake all the time I was using it. The HP M553 takes a short warmup when I first turn it on, but when it goes into sleep it comes right out when it receives a print and prints it right away. Have only had it for a month so don't know how it is with using supplies but the reviews I read indicates it is very good and doesn't waste toner. It prints very fast and has good color for graphics and is pretty good on photos. Not as good as a dedicated color photo printer, but very good. So far I am very happy with it.

I have a few of these at work and they are fast, reliable, and have great print quality. They are all set up as network printers and are plugged into Ethernet. The only negative I can think of is that it is a very large and heavy printer. Make sure you have enough space.

I have owned 6 of these machines over the last 5 years, I run a small office and this HP produces fast Color & Black & White printing at 1200 dpi and up, looks really good and is fast. The Printer also comes with a Duplexer, and Wifi Printing, so clients and you can print from your phone or other devices, makes it really easy and simple. The cost of ink is reasonable, especially if you use compatible ink cartridges, If you replace the standard one's purchase to 508X for 10,000 to 12,000 yields. Occasionally you have to replace other parts of the machine, that can be pricey, so if you have to replace a $400 roller or other items, it might be best just to by a new machine at $600 to $700 rather than replace parts, then its good again, I have 4 machines for parts stored, but probably will not have to use them, time to donate the machines again. So the machine is great, lots of great features, easy to set up, ink is reasonable and the color is great, Its a printer for everything and produces great pictures , brochures and more, You can't go wrong with this printer. Sure you can buy one cheaper, slower, But when you look at cheaper ones, the ink can cost 2 times the machine especially if there are no compatible ink made for the machine, always check 1st You can't go wrong, Buy this machine, you will be happy!

I previously had another color printer and it wasted toner and color drums which were very expensive. I have already printed a lot of copies with the HP M553 and am very happy with it. Haven't had to replace toner yet, and while more expensive it comes with a new drum. Happy with the quality and while color photos are not photo printer quality they are very good.

This is just what the doctor ordered for preparing the class material for the classes I teach. The color prints are beautiful and it's really fast. Printing on both sides saves a lot of paper and the cost per page is much lower than printing with ink. Sure the replacement toner is pretty pricey, but the amount of pages you get for your money is more than worth it. The Air Print feature makes it so easy to print from our Apple devices too. I'm using it as a network printer and it was really easy to set it up. Worth every cent!

We’ve had a previous model of the same design for many years and it has served as well. Just added this one into service in our office earlier this year and we find it to be a great and vital part of our small business office equipment. Print quality and speed are excellent. Replacement toner can be pricey but all of it is right? We love being able to print wirelessly from devices connected on the same network in the building.

Easy to set up on network, I-Phone prints directly to printer, price per page is much better than my previous HP Color Lazer printer. I bought this printer for its available X cartridges with 9500 pages of capacity for color. It will be a little pricy for a round of toners but when you do the math its about a 30% savings per page over the cheaper models with smaller cartridges. I have tried knock off cartridges and even re-filled my own . OEM toner is hard to beat for quality printing.

I have used HP Printers for my entire Real Rstate career...30+ years...and have always found them long lasting with excellent quality printing. This is my 3rd commercial grade unit and the printing is extraordinary at very efficient price. The build quality does not seem as solid and strong as my prior cp4525 printer, but it is slightly smaller and product quality seems as good so I will just have to be extra nice and gentle with it! It should be noted that both of these printers came with full toner cartridges so the cost of the equipment is about zero! I am very pleased with this printer.

We bought this printer for our two kids for the home online studies. The first few prints looked blurry, so I was worried, but we think that was just the machine warming up. We have had it for a month, and the print quality is excellent. Our kids are very happy they have access to this home printer and have figured out to print only black and white for most jobs to save the color cartridges.

Overall good printer for price. I have had an HP color printer before that lasted for a while and was durable. This is replacing that one and hope it will have same durability. Thanks
