First things first--THIS LAPTOP HAS A 2070 SUPER Max-Q. Don't listen to the "HP Team." They have no idea what they are talking about and that's really a shame. Other caveats. I haven't put it through all the paces yet. and still getting used to the keyboard which is a little offset. That being said, I have this machine next to a Razer Blade 2020 with the same CPU and a 2070 Max-Q, and this computer blows it out of the water performance-wise. The Razer does have an edge in build quality and weight, and I think I like the keyboard better, but this computer is quite good. The screen is noticeably brighter, despite being probably similar in terms of manufacture (all OLED laptop panels are Samsung). 50% brightness on this looks like full brightness on the Blade. I've appended some benchmark results from World War Z. Look at the difference between the two laptops! Night and day. The Omen crushed it and the Blade barely made it through. I ran some additional tests with the computer too. For Ashes of the Singularity Escalation, you're looking at 60+ FPS on high settings for the most part. Total War Warhammer II, about 30FPS on 4k with details high (tweaking the details or switching to 1080p--which frankly is hardly noticeable on this screen size--gets you far better). Witcher 3 at 4k with most settings at high, hairworks off, you get solid 50+ FPS. 1080p ultra even with hairworks for Geralt you can lock it in at 60 FPS, and it looks basically just as good. Outer Worlds, 50+ FPS at 4k with High settings. I did notice some screen tearing here, so consider V-Sync. Here are the results from Userbenchmark. Really amazing quite frankly. The GPU exceeds the 2080 Max-Q typical bench and the computer as a whole is performing quite well (please note the Mem was not set for the correct XMP profile out of the box, you need to adjust that for even better performance). This laptop is a steal at $1800. It outperforms the Razer Blade at $400 more and is the cheapest laptop with an amazing OLED screen and 2070 Super Max-Q (which really makes a huge difference here) by far, Build quality is good, not Razer Blade level and it's a bit beefier than a Blade, but you are looking at a heck of a deal.

    1. Comes with the RTX 2070 Super Max Q. Not the RTX 2070. 2. Fan noise isn't very loud (coming from 2015 Alienware15) . I can play on 80% volume no need for headphones. 3. Amoled screen is just downright beautiful. No it's not 120hz it's 60 but for a casual gamer, AAA titles and retro this thing will push 60fps easily with the GPU at 1440p or higher. 4. Upgradable ram and extra NVME drive. 5. Bought on sale for $1499.99. No laptop comes close with a RTX2070S. Best I could find was $2000. 6. Based on test I have run, the ram is not DDR4 2933mhz it is 3200mhz. 7. Per key RGB keyboard is pretty nice. 8. 40 to 60fps easily at 4k. 9. Tons of ports. Cons: Battery life- maybe 2 hours. Flex in lid is worrisome for long term. Keyboard is set to the left, very weird to get use to.

Who Would have thought that HP made this Masterpie

How should I start this review ? Well for starters let me say this Laptop is absolutely amazing with a perfect sharp vivid OLED full UHD 3840X2160 screen. I am actually a BIG fan of the OMEN 15's build quality while others may not be that BIG of a fan. The screen/chasis was designed this way for a Valid reason and one reason only. Optimal cooling and let me tell ya this design definitely works and than some. No lie I am seeing absolutely incredible temps MAX so far under full throttle LOAD (No thermal throttling) was 86 degrees Celsius but again that's under Full Load pedal to the metal. Typically everyday temps like just light browsing and Watching movies/YouTube I'm seeing temps from 36 degrees Celsius to 52 degrees Celsius which are absolutely incredible. You see HP took a whole different approach with this redesign they really focused HARD on optimal cooling under basic and heavy tasks. They literally spent so much research in design and build it makes my head spin. It's so perfect so appropriate for anything I decide to throw at it. I am beyond amazed on how well this Laptop is performing. I'm also a BIG fan I know I been saying that a lot in this review but it's true I'm a BIG fan of the OMEN COMMAND CENTER. I like how you can use the MUCG switch to go from HYBRID mode to Discreet graphics with a simple fast restart. Or how you can enable performance mode with a push of a button without restart of Laptop being required. Let's talk about the Keyboard For me ? I have zero issues however I'm a very fast 3 finger Typist so that might have something to do with it. I have zero issues key travel is more than appropriate and obviously love the per Key RGB software. As for Value ? Well considering I paid for this BEAST $1450 + tax when on sale for that 3 days in Best buy ummm yes I got one heck of a deal here. I would pay up to $1800 for this Laptop which is return is MSRP I might add. Gaming on this thing and video editing is an absolute breeze especially when plugged in which is required. Note that !! Anyways I see roughly on AAA titles like Outriders or Nier Replicant anywhere from 43 to 58 FPS full UHD medium to high settings which certainly is considered playable ! With a 60 htz screen would I recommend to play E sports FPS games on this PC ? No I would not as this OLED master of a screen supports up to 60htz only. The trade off comes in when video editing as I am a content creator and edit videos all the time. Editing on this rendering videos is an absolute breeze and compared to your old laptop I guarantee you will see almost 8x time shaved off from downloading and uploading full 4K videos. The Video Card the Graphics? My configuration certainly came with 2070 SUPER Max Q that's right Super it's confirmed via hardware manager and via Nvidia MY RIG. I see some reviews in here that they just get the normal 2070 Max Q and no Super ? Weird that shouldn't happen at least from what I hear from reviews on YouTube. Anyways back to what I was saying. The Super 2070 Max Q is basically a full desktop 2060 super or maybe close to 2070 DT variant. Expect to play games in full 4K even if you have to turn graphics down trust me you can still do it here. I've done it on medium and High settings ! Port selection: A wide array of port IO here yea Full SD card reader Ethernet port Two USB's 1 type C/Thunderbolt 3 Mic/headphone Jack Charge port Etc.. Port selection is perfect IMO Especially like where the charge cable port is out of the way on the left side away from everything Great Job HP! Now Do I recommend this Laptop? Well depends if you are a content creator and you do that for a living or you enjoy light to medium gaming in full 4K than yes absolutely I recommend this laptop. I do want to add please do not throw this thing around in a Bag with a bunch of Stuff it's not built to be abused it's meant to be taken care of and carefully placed in a reinforced 15.6 inch laptop case/sleeve with optimal protection. If you buy this laptop to take with you everywhere in your book bag or back pack think again DO NOT BUY this Laptop. As I said above HP took a different approach to capture that optimal cooling solution. They did not make this a perfect build quality for you to abuse ! Alright guys that about sums it up I am so happy with my purchase and honestly just because this is my 1st OMEN gaming laptop purchase it won't be my last. Best buy elite member here so when the RTX 30 series comes out with another OLED 4K option you can bet I will be back to pick up another one as long as the design stays consistent like this one than yes count me in. Much Love and Blessings to all Signing out PS: upgrading to 32GB RAM DDR4 2300 next week Heard the process of removing back panel is a breeze and is welcomed for easy user upgrade ability. Ha ha until next time Jay @SkyLyfeProjects

I am a professional photographer with Rugged Grace Photography and I needed something high grade, yet portable. this HP Omen met my expectations and then some! The color calibration is simple, and beautiful. The screen sheen makes editing exceptional. My work, and my business has improved since the purchase just three month ago.

I barely got mine just a couple of days ago and it most certainly is an L98758-001 motherboard Omen 15-ek0023dx so check more thoroughly like expanding your performance tab for more details under task manager as per the pictures I included.

Great value when on sale 1399...got mine open box for (1380$ after taxes). 4k ideal for on the go work/content consumption 1tb maindrive as games are insane these days When gaming, force enable the system to discreet gpu mode this is essentially a mux switch in the omen launcher. It will reboot your system if hybrid mode is enabled. You can then access nvidia control panel and in the vertical sync settings you can select "Fast" mode. This is FAST-sync essentially a tearfree gaming experience at 60hz for shooters if you MUST game off of the 15" panel. Otherwise the addition of a mux switch is largely a huge deal when connected to an external panel. I can play BFV on low 1440p at 90-120 fps which is pretty astonishing as im getting 70-75c on cpu with the fan on max. The fans become more tolerable if you have the system......tucked away and are gaming off of a dedicated monitor. Still though. I returned a zeph g15 with a 3070 for this bc the zeph was stuck on whispermode and couldnt be disabled. Ill leave a pic of the 3dmark score on performance mode and max fan speed. I have other 3dmark scores with stock mode+auto fans and performance+auto fans. Theyre on my desktop. So i only have the single maxed out run on the laptop.

Great Laptop, you wont be disappointed. I originally went with the because i had heard great things about it Asus Zephyrus M15 but it had a weird manufacturer defect that turned my internet off when it was plugged in. There was an easy fix, but Asus purposefully prevented my from fixing it it so it ultimately had to be returned. This was my second choice but ultimately after using it, it would have been my first choice. My friend actually needed a new laptop and she got this very one as well and loves it. I had an older omen and loved it until it died (my fault) so hopefully this one provides me with some good longevity as well. Each key can be programmed for different colors and animations, but the lights can be a bit laggy sometimes if you hsve the animations on. Gaming is smooth, colors look great, and it runs perfectly!

A Review for the Gaming Enthusiast

I'll stick to things that I think are probably the most asked questions (or at least they are for me) when you're an experienced enthusiast looking for a new gaming laptop. --- COOLING: My first thing is always "Does this have a history of overheating?". I nearly went with a Dell model and boy am I glad I didn't. I'd heard horror stories that they'd recently patched with a BIOS update, but I still didn't trust it. For the Omen, I leaned not just on history, but on design. The base of the laptop is raised with about a 3/4ths centimeter grill so the fans always have room to exhaust. They adjust incredibly well to the heat of the GPU. I won't lie, they get loud. But they run hard and they run fast, so I think it's a good tradeoff. I'd rather have a louder laptop that won't melt. I pushed the fans up high and really stressed the GPU/CPU for a while. With the fans at max and the laptop on a solid surface, the average temp was still sitting around 72C. Not bad, HP, not bad at all. --- HARDWARE: I've seen a few descriptions about on this model in particular that list this PC as not having the 2070, but actually the 2070 Super. I can confirm, THIS DOES HAVE THE 2070 SUPER, so let your wallet rejoice just a little bit more at the value. The screen- where do I even begin? The color is downright gorgeous and the picture is clear as crystal. I often v-sync my games to 60fps (which this processor can handle without breaking a sweat), so the refresh rate is never even remotely an issue. I also do plenty of artwork on a high-end graphics tablet and the laptop gives me so much clarity when painting that I can now draw on-the-go without losing quality of work equipment. --- SOFTWARE: I'm the person that normally uninstalls whatever stock software something has on it to replace it later with the software I prefer. Not so with the Omen. I'm... kind of shocked how great it is? The game launching software in particular is so all-in-one that I've moved most of my steam favorites to launch from there instead. I can see all my laptop's specs, temps, games, rgb settings, everything... but all on one software. And it's a clean, UI-sleek software. Why hasn't anyone else done this successfully? I can't believe I'm saying it, but I'll even overlook the laptop coming with MacAfee installed (didn't think this would still be a thing in 2021, yikes). --- BUILD: I'm the type that wants my laptop to be very minimalist but not look cheap. Unfortunately I think that's becoming an increasingly difficult thing to find in terms of aesthetic. It's either a choice of one or the other: either it looks cheap/minimalistic, or looks expensive/gaudy. Enter the Omen 15, thank youuuu! Just enough RGB to be neat without either blinding me or just being ridiculous. I've had some issues with a couple of the keys not pressing enough (though I do enjoy the feel) but I'm wondering if that's just user error since I'm used to really sensitive mechanical switches. The black is a really neat almost 'pearl' matte finish and the materials definitely don't feel flimsy and cheap - not even on the screen hinges. The few things I dislike, which are still not near enough to deter me from recommending the product, are all very nitpicky. The corners (mainly those on the bottom edge on either side of the trackpad) are sharp. So if you're the type to lean back in a couch sometimes, that WASD gets a bit pointy on the inside of your wrist. The texture and color, while gorgeous, make a fingerprint magnet. If you're naturally a dry-skinned person, you'll be fine. The AC power box is-... hooooboy. A foot warmer? There's no other way to put it, it's likely to be the biggest one you've seen. Still, aesthetically, it's gorgeous and my personal favorite of the couple-dozen I did research on before eventually ending up with this.

I purchased this laptop when it was on sale at excellent Bestbuy price. Amazing deal for RTX 2070 Super Max-Q with 10th gen i7. Laptop looks very stylish and there are many positive reivew on internet regarding its thermal management. One internet review mentioned about "sharp" edges, and, yes, I've noticed laptop coners/edge feel bit sharp, but this is not a deal breaker for me. I don't rest my hand one the edge all the time.... Native 4K display is very bright and crisp, but it's not 120Hz as other Omen model with 1080p screen. 1TB SSD is by Samsung (lookig up model number, it is Samsug 1TB 970Pro MVME m.2!!!!) This SSD alone will cost you about $320 purchased separately. Plenty space for installing a few games and Occulus system. It has 2nd expension nvme slot, so you can add another SSD. I was getting about 3061Mb/s read speed and 2040Mb/s on write speed on Crystal disk bench marks!! 16GB memeories are dual channel DDR4-3200 Samsung sticks. Sound is very loud. Comparing to my old Omen B&O sound, this laptop has much richer, crisper, and louder sound. Thunderbolt port let me access files in my SanDisk extremen ssd really fast. However, charging via Thunderbolt may require high watts powersupply. I used my 85W Thurderbolt charger that works with my LG Gram 17, but for this computer, it does not register the power. I don't have any charger over 100W, so I cannot verify Thunderbolt charging capability. Power brick that comes with this laptop has 200W rating. Laptop is not heavy as my previous OMENI 17 inch (with GTX1070), but compare to my LG Gram, this is still heavy. Fan is much quietter than my previous Omen. Runs games at 4K at hightest setting withou any frame lags or thermal throttle. Photoshop runs fine. Luminar 4 and Insta360 apps which requires heavy duty video card that struggled on my LG Gram 17 ultrabook runs without any issue. Rendering time for 3D VR180 video in Insta360 in my LG gram took over 2 days, but on this Omen, it took about 45 minutes. Keyboard is pleasure to use (feels like mechanical keyboard). It does not come with numerical key pad, so if your game requires numeric key pad, you'll need to use external keybaord. I have mixed feeling on the touch pad. While moving point is smooth and nice, button is so stiff, you'll often miss the click. Very hard to use, but if you are gamer, you proabaly have dedicated mouse, so no deal breaker. Battery runs about 3hrs when playing games, but I suppose it'll last longer if you just browse internet. The laptop crashed (blue screen) about 3x since I purchased about a month ago: not sure if this is Windows issue or laptop hardware.... In the past, I purchased refurbished HP Omen and had no issue for 5 years, so hopefully this one will last me for long time.

So I have the Razer Blade 15 Base Oled and I then purchased the Omen 15 because it is $500 less, offers double the memory than the Razer Blade 15, and the Omen has a 2070 Super Max Q. Talk about a bargain. However after having the Razer Blade 15 for 2 weeks and then purchasing the Omen 15 to give it a shot and see if its worth returning the Razer I have come to a decision to return the Omen. For me quality means everything and the build of the HP was just okay but what do you expect from the price point. Then I noticed flaws when loading a couple of games. The screen began to flicker and the game would not open. I had to End Task the game a few times before it began to run. I was definitely concerned from that point. Also, I ran into some buggy UI issues. Screen quality is but when comparing the Omen's OLED screen to the OLED on the Razer Blade I felt the HP screen's handling of dark movie scenes was quite blotchy and sometimes too dark. You may not notice this much if you don't have anything to compare it to but as a movie watcher on my laptop that be came a nuisance and I had to frequently adjust the screen settings for movies and gaming. Now for gaming the Omen's OLED with the anti-glare coating made for a terrific experience. I can give HP kudos for this. While my Omen was a bit buggy the 2070 Super Max Q proved to shine when playing games. Overall I think this laptop is a slam dunk in value but the quality proved to be a concern for me. This is why I returned the device. I will still recommend this device as maybe mine just had some small UI issues but almost big enough to prevent me from playing a couple of games.

I have never owned a gaming laptop prior to this, but I decided for a change that I would purchase now that I am headed to college. Let's move on to the pros and cons. Pros: When at full blast, fans are not audible over headphones/headsets. Even without, it should not be much of a bother. Intel's i7-10750H is a solid 6 core, 12 thread monster of a CPU. Clocking in at 2.6ghz, this CPU can output near desktop performance with notably low laptop thermals. NVIDIA's 2070 Super with Max Q Design is a blessing, paired with the 4K 60hz HDR10 AMOLED display, and yes, I know I sound like a cliche advertisement but the display has truly beautiful colors. Moving onto the SSD and Memory, all I can say is I can not complain. The SSD has great speeds and the memory is memory. The laptop is unexpectedly thin for it's specs and performance measuring at about 0.9 inches. The speakers, by Bang & Olufsen, blew me away. From past experiences, the audio on laptop speakers will generally be muffled, and can sound like death incarnate at greater volumes and frequencies. However, the speaker not only maintain clarity in such circumstances, they excel. The network card is surprisingly amazing!! When downloading games from steam, my download speeds were upwards of 480mbps, rather interesting considering my current network plan is ~400mbps. The network card supports WiFi-6(AX), this really caught my eye considering the router used in the household is the same. Cons The laptop's trackpad feels great to the touch, but the performance is easily designed for casual use revolving around browsing. The laptops dimensions, both length and width, are on the larger side making it difficult to fit into average sized book bags. I personally had to purchase a larger bag from Amazon to accommodate the dimensions. Being a laptop, performance is not that of desktop devices with similar parts. In order to take full advantage of the 4k display in gaming, video settings may need to be reduced leading to the sacrifice of 4k; or graphical settings may need to be reduced resulting in lower graphical fidelity. The lid of the laptop is malleable but does not prove to be an issue for me, even when transporting. When closed there is a small gap between the keyboard and lid that may allow the two to collide if pressure is applied externally.

    Great laptop, BUT

Good things: it has 2070 super maxq, using dynamic boost(90-105w) and no optimus(mux switch) its a big deal for games (not for battery), i got similar fps in games as some bigger laptop with 2070 super maxp, cooling is great but not as good as the amd version. 4k oled is nice around 385nit, PWM flickering comes only at 40% brightness. it has all the ports you need and it weigh 4.6lb, 5.4 with the charger which is very small, the laptop is ultra portable even with power cord. Bad things: touchpad is horrible, if you click too much it will go deep and will make extra clicks and bend down, must to use mouse, keyboard is smaller than regular 15inch keys, its tight with less spacing, no numpad but there is a gap for it, they should have spread out like many brand doing it, hinge is very fragile, be very cautious, do not open and close on the side and do not close at all if not necessary, must to put a key cover during travel as the screen can get marks and scratches on it due to the sharp edge in the middle under the keys, and finally the sound is horrible even with the headphone, need to buy a third party software or hardware to improve it. Battery life is weak, i can get 2-3hours on dedicated mode, on hybrid mode can not lower the brightness for whatever reason so i didnt try... I highly recommend it because of the price, same specs with razer or aero 15 would cost 1000 more but you will feel the buid quality is not the best...

Pros: - Comes with a RTX 2070 Super Max-Q, unlike what is listed in the above specs. - Really nice and bright 4K screen. - Sleek chassis design. - Nice keyboard feel. Full navigations keys (home, end, pg up, down) and arrow keys. - Good touchpad sensitivity. - Speakers are decent enough. Cons: - Keyboard has ghosting when typing really fast. Most noticeably for combinations of 2x top row + 1x bottom row, in the same column of keys. "ion" becomes "io", "oin" -> "oi", "uin" -> "ui", "yub" -> "yu", etc. - Comes with the usual Windows bloatware, which is auto-updated by the Microsoft store. - Screen has a small amount of flex when closed, above the keyboard. (See other reviews on Youtube.) - Somewhat floppy/loose screen hinge. - Front edge of laptop, where you put your wrists, is a little sharp.

I bought this foremost to be able to play MS Flight Simulator 2020 at the Ultra detail level. I started playing it a week ago and wanted to get the best experience from the game. As others have noted the 4K screen is beautiful. I have a 40" 4K monitor on my desktop machine and this one looks much better. I have had no issue with Flight Sim using the Ultra detail setting, this machine and the RTX 2070 Super Max handle it with a breeze. I played some music and watched a few things on it, and the speakers are decent for a laptop. Videos look great. I set it to record some flights using the Xbox game record while playing MSFS and those played back with no issues. Today I swapped the memory out to bump it to 32gb, and added a 2tb m.2 drive in the second slot. The upgrades were a breeze. Opening up the case was easy. Swapped everything out and booted back up with no issues. Now I have 3tb m.2 drives and 32gb to work with. The Omen configuration software let me easily set the keyboard colors to what I wanted. Next up is to install Office 365 and probably Creative Suite. I have been very happy with this laptop. The fans are quiet and after an hour or so of flying around it is not loud or crazy hot. I have installed several programs, nice and fast. No issue pairing an XBox controller to use with the game. I have put it through the paces with a bunch of thing the past few days and have found this speed, screen, video card have provided an excellent experience. Even with 16gb I had no issue but now with 32gb all the better and an easy swap. The 4K screen looks great for everything, game play, web browsing, media consumption, etc. I bought an open box while they were on sale so even with swapping out the memory and adding the second m.2 drive I am below the regular price. Great value from HP and BestBuy! I would highly recommend this laptop!

Great gaming laptop and bargain for price in 4K

4K for a laptop this price is pretty darn good. However 4K is a tricky beast. The RTX 2070 Max Q is like the bottom laptop card for 4K. Most AAS newer games don't expect many to go beyond medium, some will hit high. Some low. Depends on game. However the 2070 handles 1440 and especially 1080 resolution like a champ on high or ultra settings. It does only have a 60 hz refresh. That's due to the 4K aspect. There is the more pricey 120 hz 4K laptops. But for myself 60 hz is just fine and I think a fine sweet spot for just everyday gaming. What has impressed me are the thermals. I've had it about a week and gaming a few hours a day. Not one time did I go above 85 C. The keyboard seems to be an issue to some. I tend to be not picky on a keyboard. Removing the numeric keyboard pad that HP did does make the arrow keys easy to find and use while playing. The Oled screen is just gorgeous on this. Vivid and bright. The laptop itself is simple. The screen lid is light and flimsy. If you are like me but treat your laptop delicately verses gaming like a neanderthal, it's more than enough sturdy. The RTX2070 Max Q with a 4K at this price is a steal imo. You can go down on resolution and get a higher hz. That's the only reason I see to avoid this if 60 hz is not acceptable. Overall so far I'm highly satisfied with this. It's perfect for my gaming needs. If that or anything changes, I'll update my review

I wanted to hold out for an rtx3070 based laptop with a Ryzen processor from all the benefits of cooling and mix of power and performance. When it became apparent that everyone was releasing variances in voltage so the rtx3000 card would perform variably depending on which laptop you would be using, I decided to look for something more straight forward. Enter the Omen 4k with the 2070 super. I must admit this screen is amazing and take you by surprise when you first see it. Best I've ever had so far. The colors are deep and vibrant. I enjoy playing my games on this laptop even if I'm not getting the best version of a gpu and cpu out in the wild. After updating the software from HP, you can even undervolt the CPU to make the GPU take the brunt in games 1440p and higher. I think overall at $1449 this machine is worth every $ spent. Sound and heat haven't been an issue. I use headphones mostly, but even without, It's acceptable levels during gaming.

One of the better valued laptops considering it has a 4K OLED screen and 2070 Super Max-Q graphics (80 - 100 W), especially at its lowest sale price of $1500. Texts look super crisp and colors pop out, but the Samsung panel used appears to be similar to the one used in the new HP Envy 15, which people have complained about graininess. However, it is only noticeable on light solid colors and when you're looking closely. Another issue I noticed is when gaming at long hours, the battery starts to drain even when plugged in, which dropped to around 97%. This may be because of the lower wattage charging brick (200 W) compared to other gaming laptops (230 W). Pros: -4K OLED glass, slight anti-glare finish -Minimal aesthetics, not gamer-like -Superb cooling, CPU <80C and GPU <70 most games -Per key RGB with various animations -Good build quality, metal keyboard deck -Option to change fan speed (low to high slider) Cons: -Minor screen flex, little wobble when open -Hinge seems a bit fragile -Grainy screen -Battery drain issue Components (for my particular unit but there are variations): -Dual channel 16GB SK Hynix HMA81GS6DJR8N-XN -Monitor: SAMSUNG Model: SDC4145 -Storage: WDC PC SN730 SDBPNTY-1T00-1006 -Network Card: Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz For more information, Bob of All Trades channel on Youtube has an in-depth review about this exact model titled "HP OMEN 15 Review! The First and Best Of Its Kind!" Not a content creator, but I still purchased this for single player RPG games where 60 Hz is fine and I don't play competitive multiplayer games.

I do not like HP from my previous experience but I got it at a discount, so i was gonna try it out, turned out it's worth every penny. Thought it might be a thicker laptop but it wasn't so bad consider it is a beefed up machine, plus it is lightweight. It is even faster than my 1 yr old desktop. I was hoping it carries the 2070 Super max-q but i got the regular 2070 max-q instead, o well. I could not find a better price rig at the time with similar specs so I didn't mine it. 4k OLED is night and day compared to my other HP laptop, and the rgb keyboard is a nice welcome, it reminds me of my desktop setup. Overall, i think it can replace my desktop as the daily driver. Time will tell.

After using this for about 4weeks I'm very impressed with how nice the screen images are (solid). The graphics is Great, the refresh not so great, but who cares 4k at Ultra settings at 60 FPS it's worth it. The only down side to this laptop is that the battery sucks, they should have made it bigger to last at least 4 hr's it really last about 2.5hrs at max, no way you will ever get more than 3hrs.. If you want portability don't buy this laptop it really needs to be plugged in most of the time. The battery charges fast but this is a new computer. Haven't plugged my Rift into it yet and I'm hoping I can use the RTX graphics in VR mode, not sure if that's really going to matter but it will be nice if it does play at least. So far I've been lucky and haven't had any problems with the key board like some people have said in reviews. But who the heck would use a laptop key pad and touch pad to play games on it any way (NOOBz), Why would you want to strain your lap top with the kind of pounding you do on a full size KB. Nutz, The last thing is the way it closes. They need to fix that the screen floats above the key pad and there's some open space there that needs to be closed up. I don't like the idea that my screen is flexing into the key pad when any pressure is applied to it when closed, just picking it up it flexes to much. So far the OLED is handling it but it feels flimsy. You shouldn't have to be babying the dam thing every time you pick it up or pull it out of the back pack (or put it in the back pack). Extra padding and care is needed when putting it in back packs. If this computer holds up this will be the last post. My last HP laptop lasted 8yrs. I took good care of it and did all the hard drive and ram upgrades my self, but the screen is going and need to be replaced.

For the sale price I'm not sure there is a better spec'd laptop. It's very nice looking, the omen logo is pretty sweet. Build quality is a mix of plastic but no complaints. There is room for a 2nd nvme for upgrades and it is fairly easy to remove the back for it. The gpu is the super max q version. Unigine at extreme settings on 4k was in the 30s, gpu temps didn't go past the 70s for me, I added in prime and the cpu pegged at 80c at 100% for an hour. The fan noise is very acceptable at those temperatures, better acoustics than the Lenovo 720p 2in1. For me the fans drone a reasonable pitch that almost any other noise would overpower, but noticeable in a silent room. It's a constant sound under load but I'd bet it is better than most designs. I didn't use a cooling pad this was tested flat on a table. The heat i describe doesn't transfer to the keyboard, the keys stayed cool to the touch after an hour at these temps. The screen is nice, not amazing, but the viewing angles are alright and the coating doesn't fair badly with glare, it's much better than the glass of a touchscreen. 75% screen brightness seems acceptable but even at the brightest it's not going to turn heads. All considered the screen might be the weakest aspect besides the keyboard which is also, fine. Speakers are decent for a laptop. Biggest complaint is the power button placement and that it picks up finger grease easy. All things considered, it maybe larger with a lesser screen but I think it compares better value wise to the razer and asus comparatives.
