This is described as a gaming PC but I bought it to make my regular PC tasks painless and to save time. The Intel Core I7, graphics processor, and 2GB of dedicated graphics RAM were just what the doctor ordered. It will load 60 photos into Photoshop and let me browse, edit and save them with no hesitation. I can use applications or Facebook while updates are going on.

This was my first gaming computer purchase, and it's worked out wonderfully. I didn't know anything about them, which a fine gentleman at the St. Cloud location quickly and efficiently mended. I wanted portability, which I had thought would be impossible for my desired purpose. In fact, in my ignorance, I fully intended on buying a desktop until that aforementioned gentleman showed me the laptop posibilities. I bought in the middle in terms of price and power, expecting a middle-of-the-road quality, not possibly capable of playing games like Skyrim, and I have never been so happy to be wrong. It plays Skyrim beautifully, not to mention every other game I've checked our (old and new alike), and coupled with Steam, I am now fully mobile, playing my favorite games with ease. I don't know enough to get technical, but I can say with confidence that it met my every expectation and more. Of course, the computer was bought with the hopes it would make general, non-gaming use fast, which it absolutly did. From word to google, everything, EVERYTHING is faster than I've ever experienced, and using another computer makes me realize how spoiled this one has made me. For any god's sake, if you're in for your first gaming computer, you can't go wrong with this one. It wouldn't surprise me, by the way, if this laptop would be perfect for long-time computer gamers as well. And if you want to know the technical stuff, go to St. Cloud and ask the associates. You won't be dissapointed.

I was looking for a budget priced laptop with a solid state drive. This is a hybred 1 TB regular drive with a 256 MB solid state drive. This is my first SS drive and I am SO happy that it starts up instantly without the annoying start up delay and also NO waiting for downloads! And it was 3x more than my last laptop, but the last one was cheap and annoying. This was well worth the few extra pennies.

Great graphics, speed, easy to use. Log in, load up your game, and play. Awesome!

I love the speed of this laptop and 17 inch screen. Faster than other HP models. Also, the Nvidia 965 is better and clearer than the 940. Big difference. The laptop was worth the extra money paid, but I got a good deal on a sale price offered for a few days. Highly recommend this laptop.

This is a good compromise of power and a decent price point. Everything my techy boyfriend needed in a computer. His only complaint is that it isn't blue (his favorite color, ha!)

Pros: Great performance for the money, handles multitasking very well (I have connected a monitor to this. The laptop can easily run a game on one screen and something else on the other), easy set up Cons: If feels large even for a 17 inch laptop, fan gets loud during game play, touch pad isn't very good, lack of a touchscreen Overall it's a great product. I was leery about buying an HP, but I have so far been very impressed.

I love many things about this computer! The lighted keyboard is awesome! It has an off and on switch, so you don't have to have it lit all the time. The keys are difficult to see without the lighting, because of the red print. I did have to purchase a wireless mouse, because the touch pad on this computer STINKS. The wireless mouse, wasn't expensive, but would have preferred to be able to use the mousepad on the computer. The cooling system is VERY LOUD, like you have to turn the TV up to hear it over the cooling system. This is a common issue with gaming laptops, so be ready for that if you are purchasing a gaming laptop. In general, I would love it, if HP would fix their power cord. The connection from the cord to the computer is very flimsy and I have broken several on previous computers. However, this computer does have a very long battery life, so I rarely have to have it plugged in while I am using it.

This HP gaming laptop has the best power and weight for a 17 in laptop!. The specs are great and the computer can handle heavy and light games. Fast start up with that NVME SSD and a 1tb HDD for applications and files. With windows 10 on the machine its just a power house and is worth the price.

Bought this for my son who enjoys online gaming. High definition screen size and resolution are very good. Processing speed, power and graphics are great for gaming. Has much faster, and smoother, start-up and shut-down than any laptop he has previously owned - even when installing updates.

Great for gaming and for my business, the only thing I wish was that the letters on the keys were either lighter or backlit. If i loose my place while typing or going to place the red is too dark. I bought a little laptop light prob solved. Otherwise speed is great storage great

I had no intention of buying this laptop when I went to the store since I am not a gamer, however, it had all the features I wanted at a very reasonable price on sale; core i7, solid state, backlit keyboard. and super sound. Since I usually use it in the same spot at home, the large size is a benefit and not a problem. So far, I love this computer.

I've always found quality in HP Laptops and this one is no exception. I prolonged a new purchase as I liked Windows-7 and didn't want to learn a new Operating System (heard bad things about Windows-8). I've prolonged since 2009 and my former Laptop was just getting so slow. The new Laptop boots very fast with the Solid-State-Drive, the 1TB SATA drive gives me plenty of room to store the data that I want to retain, and Windows-10 lets just say that it has been very quick to learn and there is so many new improvements... waiting for this Laptop appears to have been the right choice.

This is actually a Christmas present, but I'm sure my son will be beyond thrilled. We got the best help at BestBuy from someone who really knows what is needed for purchasing a "Gaming Laptop." He explained all about the graphics card and the i7 processor.

Needed a new system that would run like a charm for gaming. This is it.

The bestbuy rep recommended this as a good gaming computer and I must say I have been impressed. The graphics look crisp and the games run smooth. The battery life could be better, but after all it is a 17" higher tier performance laptop.

By far the best laptop I have purchased to date. The SSD memory definitely makes everything so much faster than my previous laptop. From surfing the Web to Gaming in 1080 hd this laptop is definitely a beast. 5/5 for sure.

i wanted a laptop that i can run a few games on occasion. i mostly play call of duty series games or shooters. this laptop runs those games no problem. load time is super fast takes about 10 secs. from time i turn it on to time i can surf the web. I mostly just surf web and listen to music and it handles that just fine with no snags. overall this laptop is perfect for me and people who are new to gaming machines. i would buy it again.

First day I got it it crashed while attempting to update. Had to do a system recovery and start over alil annoying but worked fine after that. I liked this laptop a good bit the ssd makes for super fast start up 9-10 seconds from a complete shut down to complete start up ready to go. Fast wireless , Full HD Screen, 7200rpm harddrive +ssd. As for negatives It's plastic - guessing for the price point. 965m gpu- Good for gaming , but not great. No Built in webcam- unless you get 4k screen I ended up returning this and getting something alil more better. But for the price of This laptop it's not bad at all.
