Powerful Beast
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This will be my first review *ever* for a Best Buy product but I have to say that so far I'm pleased with the computer. I've only had it for a few days and so far it has taken everything I've tested on it and passed with flying colors. Normally I'd take half a point off for the DVD drive being noisier than I like but Best Buy is ALL or nothing so I am going with 5 because otherwise this computer has been an absolute dream to use. First off, this computer is a powerful one with a nice weight balance to it so it never feels as heavy as listed in the specs. It is absolutely huge though as this is the first 17 inch laptop I've ever owned with the last one I owned being a 13" laptop but with the extra inches they've managed to make sure that this thing has plenty of screen for video editing and enjoying anything from games to movies. Another thing to note about this computer is that it comes with a DVD burner/drive (not blu-ray) so I can make backup copies, burn music and movies, or just stick in a dvd and enjoy it on the go. Secondly I bought this computer more for video editing than gaming or surfing the net and with the video editor that this came with it shined bright. The Hard Drive may be a 5400 rpm but that 8 gig cache really helped speed things up enough that I couldn't tell the difference. Last thing I want to say is that right now as of this review I could barely find ANY info about this computer beyond people talking about the specs and most were about Last Year's Omen model. A few sites talked about what this was going to have and it didn't disappoint there. I know there are a few youtube videos on the SMALLER Omens but nothing on this big beefy computer (that I know of yet!) Thanks for reading this! Pros: Balanced weight Awesome speakers (Clearest and Loudest I've ever seen on a laptop!) Anti-Glare Screen Decent Battery Life (I'm not sure how long yet and I may update this once I figure it out.) Doesn't get hot unless using the gaming videocard in it and even then it is really super quiet and only blows out the heat in the right corner. Powerful I7 CPU Powerful Nvidia videocard with high FPS(Frames Per Second). Intel Videocard is good enough for average work in the surfing the web, checking email, etc without draining the battery. Battery charges fast when plugged in. Well worth the cost as other computers in the store had 8 gigs of memory or much smaller hard drive(256 to 512 Gigs) at a much higher cost. Boots up and shuts down rather quickly. Looks sharp and feels good! Keyboard lights up a bright red when turned on and easily visible for a lights off type of typing. Has a some good programs that I found nice. One cool one was a program that allows you to really test the Nvidia videocard and see just how powerful it really is called the Uningine Valley Benchmark (awesome valley scenes and music) Cons: DVD Drive is the most noisy thing on the computer. Has Windows 10 on it. Not used to 17 inches so it seems like it belongs on the lap of a Giant to me. Lol :) Mouse is a touchpad with multi-finger support (zoom in and out, etc) and more than once I've been trying to do a drag & drop but instead ends up doing a zoom in/out. A external mouse fixes this though.

Took 3 different laptops to get one that works
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop hoping it was a good laptop. The first one I bought was broken so they gave me another and it was also broken and now I'm on my 3rd laptop. So hopefully this one works.

Some power under the hood
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bear in mind, this laptop was purchased as a backup to my network. I wanted something that would be powerful enough to tackle the new Doom game and play the other games on my Steam accounts. First things, first. This is a sizeable machine with a comfortable layout. The keyboard is backlit in red, and is easy on the eyes. The screen is respectable and the mouse is responsive. The battery is already connected and the only thing you need to do is connect the power cord and you're off. The CPU is quick and the setup was a breeze. Steam loaded easily and the games had no issues installing. Doom 4 played like a champ! All of the games were flawless, so far. Now to install music and pictures. Nine thousand songs, and no issues, about twelve thousand photographs, beautifully presented. The CPU was running at just under a hundred degrees Farenheit. I only heard the fan kick in once and it was not loud at all. Now, a few caveats. The speakers are garbage, very tinny and weak, but a set of earbuds fixed that quickly. The casing on the bottom feels a bit flimsy and the DVD tray feels like it's going to drop out. Happily, this hasn't happened. Battery life is about three solid hours, with about another hour on light use. The box had one sheet of instructions, and they were not overly helpful. The saving grace is that the machine is pretty intuitive and it didn't take long to figure out all of the basics. McAffee software is bundled in the machine, but little else comes with it..The price is a little on the steep side, but in my sphere of experience, you usually get what you pay for. This machine delivers on its promises in a big way.

Decent for everything EXCEPT gaming
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Battery life is very good. Been getting on average, 5+ hours when gaming on laptop. 7+ hours when browsing the internet and using Youtube. Gaming experience is great. Rarely any lag. Frame Rates are great. Averaging 50-60 Frames per second for major games such as Grand Theft Auto V and Call of Duty Black Ops. The biggest downside that this laptop has is it's dumb sticky keys. I get killed so much because of it. Using the W, S, A, D buttons as movement, those buttons would get stuck occasionally and your character in the game, would continue to move in whichever direction that the key is stuck on. The only way to stop your character is by smashing that stuck button repeatedly. The other movement keys won't work unless you do so. Another downside is the long pause when opening up applications. I would have to wait 5+ seconds just for an application like Google Chrome or Itunes to open up. If you are a gamer and are looking for a gaming laptop then this one is not for you. The sticky keys itself are a good enough reason to not buy it. There is a probability that the keys can't even keep up with the system itself. I occasionally find my character(GTA V etc) constantly moving even when my fingers are off the keyboard. Perhaps all HP Omen laptops have this sticky key problem. So, unless you like getting yourself killed in games, I suggest you look elsewhere. Try checking out other brands such as Dell or ASUS. I am returning this because of the fact that I am a gamer and do not like it when I get killed because of this persistence with the sticky keys. Or perhaps I will exchange it for another one and if this sticky key problem continues to persist then I am returning it and will look towards another brand. TAKE NOTE, HP!

good for more than just gaming
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laptop to run SolidWorks and could not be happier. I play a little bit of games but mainly older stuff like diablo 2. This thing is handling all of my 3D models and assemblies without a problem. If you are looking to not break the bank for a laptop and still get top of the line specs this is what you want. And it also looks pretty rad.

Great gaming laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had originally purchased an Asus laptop and was very unhappy with it. I went online and read some reviews for this one. It was only $75 more. I traded it in and I am so happy. My games load so fast and the graphics are amazing. The battery life is pretty great as well.

Choppy music and sticky keyboard issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Three issues of this Laptop right of the box. 1) While playing Overwatch (very popular video game), keys will be stuck periodically. I'll need to press the key again to release it. The keyboard key ( W, A, S, and D) and used very often for moving the game character. Periodically, it will be stuck and the game character will move to one right direction until the key is pressed again. 2) Choppy music (loud and noisy) throughout the game. When you replay highlight of the game or play of the game. You'll hear the issue right the way. 3) Fan is really loud occasionally, especially, when idling in game menu mode.

Noisy Fan - Keyboard not standard spacing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am not a professional gamer - I am rather new to this level of technology. I got the Omen primarily to run Photoshop and do some gaming. So far those aspects work fine. What bugs me is the noise of the fan (and how frequently it runs) and the keyboard. The keyboard seems to not be standard. I have to twist my right hand to the left to do touch typing. Other than that, it is a great machine. I love the lit keyboard.

Great Notebook
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the notebook so that I could do video editing on the go and it does not disappoint. Most games play on ultra settings which is awesome. The only downside is that the LCD screen needs a little bit better contrast.

Do not waste your money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Considering I do quite a bit of gaming, I must say, this laptop is not worth it at all. All other reviews I have seen on here are complete bs. My other laptops or even computers have never had issues with fps dropping and staying dropped. For about 30 minutes good fps rates peaking at 200, but then when you think everything is going great, the graphics card just stops running efficiently and stays idle. be prepared to stay at 30 fps to about 50 in certain areas, and that is in any game. In my experience, do not even try to play on this laptop because it will just keep your fps low which is sad considering its a pretty decent card that should be able to push out a great amount of graphics. Oh, and even if you drop the settings still looking at 40 max fps.....I have a 7 year old computer that pushes out more power than that of this garbage. Do yourself a favor, and buy something better like a razer stealth if you're looking for a better gaming laptop.

Worth the Money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this laptop for over a week now and there have been no problems with it at all, it runs efficiently and I even put a 500 gb SSD in there and it just made everything work that much better.

HP OMEN 2016 MODEL
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.ok I bought this laptop the omen the 17in one. Well the first week the sound card was messing up with the volume going up and down. So I took it back and got the same kind. Well I had that one for a week and decided to play a dvd on it and that didn't work. So I took it back now I'm trying a 3rd laptop in the past 3 weeks. ive should have known hp wasn't good but since its 2016 I thought they would have already came out with a good product, guess not. horrible laptop I have ever owned and I paid $1,190 on this lap top. So much waste of money. I have saved that money for 2 years for a piece of technology that doesn't even work.

Disappointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ordered the first one online and picked it up in store. After booting it up, there was very noticeable, severe screen bleeding in one of the corners. I took it back and brought home another brand new one, only to have severe, ridiculous screen bleeding around the entirety of the screen. Quality control was obviously lacking, and I was under a time crunch. After a third visit to Best Buy, I came home with an Asus laptop in perfect condition.

Keys Terrible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The keys on this laptop are terrible. Take a good look at the up/down arrow keys. Unless you have very small fingers, you'll have difficulty hitting those keys.
