This is your Omen to purchase
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve purchased four HP Omen monitors—not because of any issues, but because I genuinely like them that much. I run two dual-monitor setups and have had zero connectivity problems, whether for office work, creative tasks, or gaming. These monitors are impressively versatile. My first setup paired them with a Samsung laptop, and later I transitioned to using them with my Alienware Aurora R16 PC. I own two of the older models with the triangular base, and recently added two of the newer versions, which are a major upgrade. The updated design feels more modern and functional, with cleaner aesthetics and improved build quality. One standout feature is the built-in speakers—a rarity among gaming monitors. While they won’t replace dedicated audio equipment, they’re surprisingly decent for casual use and help justify the slightly higher price tag. That said, these monitors frequently go on sale, so I highly recommend keeping an eye out for discounts. Performance-wise, the refresh rate and response time hold up well, even under demanding AAA titles on both my PS5 and Xbox. I’ve experienced minimal input lag and no noticeable screen tearing. The visuals are crisp, motion is smooth, and overall gaming performance has been consistently strong. At this point, HP Omen is my go-to brand for both productivity and gaming. I wouldn’t choose anything else.

A monitor with good resolution and refresh rate!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having a monitor that responds efficiently during gaming sessions determines how much you can enjoy them. The refresh rate, resolution, monitor size, and panel type all have a significant influence when it comes to gaming. This monitor satisfactorily meets these requirements and offers a little more. The box includes the monitor, a DisplayPort cable, a USB Type-A to Type-B cable, the power cable, the base stand, a cable holder, and some documentation. The installation process is simple, and it can be easily assembled, although it is also possible to install the monitor on a wall mount, depending on the preferences and needs of each user. This HP Omen monitor has a minimalist yet elegant design. I love the RGB light detail on the back, and the monitor bezels leave enough space to better view content. It has a power button and another button for navigating the menu, and it comes with a cable holder, which is always helpful for keeping your desk organized. This monitor can be adjusted horizontally, and you can also adjust the tilt and height. It has various input ports, the most important of which is the DisplayPort, which is where you can get the signal that allows you to achieve a 280Hz refresh rate. It also has HDMI ports in case you want to connect to other compatible devices. Although this HP Omen monitor has speakers that work well, they are not essential when gaming. I believe that most gamers use dedicated headphones for this task, mainly for comfort and advantage when playing. In terms of performance, despite having an IPS panel, the image quality is quite good, the color representation is very accurate, dark colors look good, and in contrast to light colors, there is no grayish effect that other monitors give. The 2560 x 1440 resolution combined with the 280Hz refresh rate really makes a difference. Over the years, I have changed gaming monitors from 60Hz to 280Hz, and one thing I can say is that once you play at such high refresh rates, it is impossible to go back to playing at less than 120Hz or 144Hz. There is definitely a noticeable difference. In both bright and low-light conditions, this monitor performs very well, in addition to reducing blue light emissions. Personally, for health reasons, I use blue light filter glasses, but it's still helpful that HP hasn't overlooked this very important issue, especially when we spend long hours sitting in front of the monitor. In summary, this HP Omen 280Hz 2560 x 1440 gaming monitor is a good choice for gaming as well as watching multimedia content. It has a good design and a good size 27”, which I consider to be the standard in gaming, a response time of 1ms, which is also important for games that require greater precision, RGB lighting that is a must-have in any gaming setup ;) enough ports, and even speakers that perform well. While the price may seem a little high, the features this product offers make up for it. If you want a good monitor with a high refresh rate and good resolution, I can definitely recommend it.

Great monitor paired with nVidia GPU
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HP Omen 27QS is a nice monitor. I have it connected using the DisplayPort cable onto an EVGA nVidia 3070. My CPU is an Intel i7-10700K. It may sound like outdated computer components but do not be fooled, it runs great on the games I play. Firstly, it has a good number of connections. It has 1 DisplayPort 1.4, 2 HDMI 2.0, USB ports, and headphone jack. It includes a cable organizer clip, Display Port cable, and USB cable – it looks like USB3.1, USB-A to type B. It supports VESA mount 100x100. There is a directional button in the back to navigate around the monitor’s menus. I find it responsive. There are several color options such as FPS, RPG, Native, Standard, and HP Enhance+ just to name a few. I left it on standard and have been pleased with the results so far. I enabled G-Sync and it is currently running at 280Hz at 2560x1440. I played Overwatch 2. While in the loading room waiting for the game to start, FPS floats around 220-240. While battling, FPS will drop to about 160-180. It is very smooth, no lag or frame loss. It will vary though depending on the level but that is about the average I have seen. Being that the panel is IPS, the viewing angles are great. For me, I do not notice any loss of colors and glare is okay when viewing from an angle. I like the monitor. It performs well for the games I play. The colors are great for me.

Great IPS Gaming Monitor
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The older IPS monitor my girlfriend was using finally gave out, so I needed to pick up a new monitor to replace it. She already has an OLED monitor for the main one, so I wanted to replace the older one with another IPS to keep it simple. I saw that HP had the OMEN 27” IPS QHD 280Hz Gaming Monitor recently released, which piqued my interests as I’ve had only good things to say about the HP OMEN Transcend OLED monitor I already own. So, I decided to pick up the OMEN 27” IPS gaming monitor and see if HP OMEN has kept it going. Pros: - 280Hz Refresh Rate at 2K Resolution. - Good color calibration for IPS. - Settings can be adjusted via the OMEN App. Cons: - No side to side tilt on the stand. Setup & Specs: I always enjoy opening an HP OMEN product, the packaging is very well thought out with very little waste and all components neatly packaged inside. The HP OMEN 27” IPS monitor was no different. The packaging is designed to make setup easy as well, allowing direct access to the back of the monitor while in the box to easily attach the monitor stand. Included with the monitor is the stand, a DisplayPort cable, USB-B to USB-A cable, and the power cable. Unlike other monitors, the HP OMEN 27” IPS doesn’t have a power brick, just a standard 3 prong power cable that plugs into the monitor directly. The included Stand is solid with plenty of vertical height, tilt, and rotate so you can have the monitor in horizontal or vertical position with ease. But the Stand doesn’t allow for any side-to-side tilt, which means you must move the stand and monitor for the right angle, unless you use a monitor arm with a VESA 100x100 mount. The monitor is 27in sized, with a native resolution of 2560x1440 (2K). The Refresh Rate is 280Hz with a 1ms response time. The monitor is VESA DisplayHDR 400, which is the lowest HDR rating but still helpful to have available. Software: The OMEN Gaming Hub app is one of the few monitor software tools I enjoy using, it allows you to adjust the monitor settings without having to use the little dial or buttons navigating through a compact menu. Instead, you can on the adjust the settings anytime via the app with a DisplayPort cable connection. Each tab provides different settings that can be adjusted: Picture Mode provides different preset color options. Some might prefer the manual method, but for most gamers I think the defaults cover the main options perfectly, and you can always go into the manual monitor settings to adjust each individually. I prefer the HP Enhance+ as it tends to balance the colors the best across multiple types of games and media. Settings has the general Brightness, Contrast, and Response Time. There is also the Adaptive-Sync feature, which is great for reducing screen tearing. Also on this page is the Moving Picture Response Time, which inserts black frames between normal frames to make images look smoother. This can be helpful but is not enabled with Adaptive-Sync which I prefer over the smoother moving images. Lighting controls the RBG light square on the back, which I feel is a little unnecessary, but it is labeled as a Gaming Monitor, so it must have some RBG somewhere on it. Audio controls the volume of the audio out and the EQ mode, which is a nice option if you’re using wired headphones or IEM’s, but I doubt most will use these settings. Overlay allows you to add some helpful screen overlays like a crosshair with color and shape customizable options, an FPS Counter, and a Timer Connectivity: For connectivity, there is 1xDisplayPort 1.4, 2xHDMI 2.0, 2xUSB-A 3.0 (downstream), and 1xUSB-B (Upstream) ports. To get the maximum frame rate of 280Hz, you will need to use the DisplayPort 1.4 port with either the provide cable or a DisplayPort 1.4 or better cable. On the HDMI 2.0 connection you will only be able to get 144Hz at native 2K resolution. Performance: The 280Hz refresh rate is amazing, paired with the 1ms response time and Adaptive-Sync, games run smooth and clean with no tears. This is also just as dependent on your systems graphics card as the monitors ability, so your results may vary. I’ve got an RTX 4080, which was easily able to hit a stable 240-260 at 2K on Fortnite and other games with tweaks to the game settings. I don’t try to run it at the absolute maximum, but at least above 200 fps on most games to keep the feel of the game smooth. The HP OMEN 27” IPS was able to do that like a breeze. For an IPS panel, the color is very good. I really could only tell mainly in darker scenes or all black, as the OLED panel next to it really made the difference apparent, but compared to the older IPS panel, the colors on the HP OMEN 27” IPS were way brighter and vivid. Brightness is only rated at 400 nits, but the monitor does allow HRD settings which helps pop the colors and make it feel brighter. Though some games end up looking like they have a Neon filter over them, but after adjusting the settings I was able to settle on a good color balance along side plenty bright enough to see in darker rooms. Conclusion: If you want an amazing IPS gaming monitor with plenty of bells and whistles, without breaking the bank, then the HP OMEN 27” IPS gaming monitor is a great option to consider. With the 280Hz refresh rate and Adaptive-Sync, your gaming will be super smooth paired with the 1ms response time. I really like the HP OMEN products for their quality, features, and software, which is why this monitor is getting added to my list of recommendations.

FIRE MONITOR
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly was between this and an OLED, but I want the ASUS ROG STRIX 360hz or 500hz but wasnt ready to drop the $$$ on that. Got this on sale for $320. Its much better than my LG 27GR75, the Black IPS on this is truly black. Very impressed. Worth it on sale, not worth it full price, get an OLED for $500.

Overpriced Disappoinment
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Omen 27qs G2 is nothing but a disappointment. I was really excited to add this monitor to my gaming setup when they first announced it. Being an IPS Black panel, it does display richer blacks than standard IPS panel since IPS Black has almost double the contrast of a standard IPS. It is still an edge lit monitor so the corners will have the typical IPS glow in darker scenes. It has horrible color and brightness uniformity going from the middle of the monitor to the edges. IPS should have one of the best viewing angles but unfortunately this monitor doesn't deliver on that. It's very distracting and deal breaking when colors and brightness are not uniform on the display. I was going to give 1 star for this monitor but I gave an additional star because of its good HDR performance. It's nothing fancy and definitely doesn't match the HDR performance of an OLED panel but HDR does actually work on this monitor to an extent better than any standard IPS panels. However, this monitor is overpriced. You can add $100-$200 on top of its price and get yourself an OLED panel that will blow this monitor out of the water in terms of performance and image quality. Being an owner of Omen 27i, I always speak highly of Omen monitors because they have great image quality but Omen 27qs G2 is nothing but an overpriced disappointment. At $499 asking price, I expected a better product as many decent OLED panels can sell at $599. I was looking to purchase this monitor as a good compromise between IPS and OLED but if it can't display uniform colors across the screen, that's not a compromise that's a deal breaker. What on earth was HP thinking when they released this monitor with horrible performance and pricing? I returned this monitor back to where it belongs..... On the shelf.

Vibrant and Smooth
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HP Omen 27” QHD 280Hz Gaming Monitor is not just a monitor, it's a game-changer. Its unique features set it apart, making it an upgrade you'll wish you made sooner. The moment I unboxed it, I could feel the difference, adding twenty swagger points to my setup. Out of the box, the unit impresses with its sleek design and an adjustable stand that exudes durability and solidity. The difference in quality was instantly apparent when I was breaking every ankle I came across, not because I am good, but because I was there first and able to move and react quicker, or at least faster than the opposition could. The available 280Hz and 1ms response time make my movement look like a pro with smooth transitions that provide a buttery smooth competitive advantage. The inclusion of the G-Sync (it has G-Sync or for the AMD FreeSync) ensures that I am gliding without screen tearing or stuttering. The QHD resolution is something they write poems & songs about. From streaming to just online browsing, the look is sharp, vibrant, and clear. On top of that, the VESA DisplayHDR 400 makes colors, shadows, and highlights pop in a way that feels more cinematic, and the IPS Black panel keeps everything consistent across wide viewing angles. Hence, the picture always looks good, no matter where I’m sitting. It’s also surprisingly versatile. The built-in dual speakers are clear enough for casual use like review text, but I would add a headset or peripheral speakers to complement the unit. The OMEN Light Studio lets you customize lighting effects for your setup, and there are plenty of ports to swap between console and PC easily. Little touches, such as the integrated cable management, keeping the desk looking clean instead of cluttered, and the adjustable height, which, to me, should be mandatory for all monitors as a tall guy myself. It is a well thought out unit that offers the user a visually stunning experience, while being considerate of their needs. Overall, the HP Omen 27” QHD 280Hz combines performance, comfort, and thoughtful features into one sleek package. The monitor offers all the necessary essentials with its speed and crisp visuals. I highly recommend this monitor for anyone looking for a top tier monitor that feels like you are cheating when using it, maybe not, but kind of LOL.

Great Mid-Level IPS Gaming Monitor
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was in the market for another gaming monitor with a high refresh rate that looks great and would not break the bank, and the HP OMEN 27" IPS QHD 280Hz panel was the perfect fit. There are other monitors that offer higher peak brightness, better color, and more features, but you will pay a premium for those. This HP OMEN hits the right price point with the features that matter most. Yes, the screen uses IPS technology. When shopping for monitors in this price range, you cannot expect to check every box on your wish list. With that in mind, this display delivers a fast panel (280Hz and 1ms MPRT) with excellent resolution and wide viewing angles. In my opinion, 2K resolution is the minimum for 27-inch displays, and the HP OMEN delivers. At 2560 x 1440, individual pixels are invisible at a normal viewing distance and text remains sharp. The color accuracy is more than good enough for gaming with some tweaking. To be fair, there are very few monitors I have owned where I was happy with the picture right out of the box. I am particular, especially with another monitor on my desk, so I will dive into the custom settings and adjust the color profile until it nearly matches perfectly. My only complaint is the 400 nit peak brightness. The display technically supports HDR, but you should not expect a dramatic improvement. Actually, I do have another complaint, and that is the grey uniformity. Being an IPS panel, this along with the less-than-perfect blacks from light bleed is just a trade-off of the technology. The stand is a highlight, and I appreciate the ability to rotate the screen into portrait orientation without buying an additional mount. I do not use this feature often, but it is nice to have. The stand is also solid and does not suffer from excessive wobble when you bump your desk. This OMEN provides all the connections you need. I use DisplayPort for my PC and have my PlayStation 5 connected to one of the two HDMI ports. When you see it in person and consider the price compared to the features, it is an excellent monitor. If you are coming in with OLED expectations, you will likely be disappointed. At its core, this is a midlevel gaming monitor. The reality is most people will not have the hardware to fully take advantage of the refresh rate this panel offers. I am very happy with this HP OMEN and believe most people would be too.
