Not worthy of any stars.
This is, in no way any fault of Best Buy.
It came preloaded with lots of adware, which instantly down loaded malware as soon as it was connected to internet.
It has been plagued with problems ever since, with no help from HP Support.
Complete system failure just after warranty expired.
Took almost a week to remove adware and malware, before being able to even register it.
I will never buy another HP product again and will never recommend them.

GREAT laptop for under $500

I did a lot of research on many brands of laptops. I had an HP prior to this one and it worked great for almost 7 years. So, I decided to stay with HP. My choice came down to this HP (15-ab121dx) and the HP with the same 6GB and 1TB HDD, but had the touch screen (15-ac121dx). Not having a touch screen was not a deal breaker for me. I liked the looks of the all silver casing on this laptop better then the black on the 15-ac121dx. At the time of my purchase, the purchase price of the 15-ab121dx was only $399.
Even though I am more of an "Intel" processor person, I took a look at this laptop with the AMD processor. After reading all of the reviews on both laptops, and a lot of negative reviews on the Intel laptop, I decided to take a chance on the AMD laptop.
I have had my laptop for about a week now and I am loving it! The AMD-10 series processor is awesome. It is much faster than I expected. I haven't done any gaming on the laptop yet, but it seems to run all of my other applications with ease and speed.
For anyone wanting/needing a relatively inexpensive laptop, I would highly recommend this one, even at the current $429 price tag.

This laptop is great, is fast and if you are looking for a gaming computer this computer will not disappoint you. I already try this games, Alien isolation, Tomb Raider, Total war Rome 2, Total war shogun 2 and a small game called age of empires 3. So far the games run perfect, and is perfect for other uses as well. If you are lacking in money and you are looking for a laptop that is fast and can run games this is it, and it has a lot of memorie.

So far it works great! Seems plenty fast enough for me and I've built several gaming PCs as well as owned high end gaming laptop. I wanted just the basics and this definitely meets the needs. Playing older games just fine. Web pages and MS office load and work fast. Great value.

This is the 2nd laptop I bought from BestBuy last month. The 1st one I returned (a cheaper HP that was made cheaply). Thankfully I'm very happy with this laptop. Works perfectly so far. Fast. Easy. I use this for work and home use. I like that this laptop feels cool to touch, and doesn't feel hot fast.
Only problem I've ran into is the zoom feature with the mouse which is from my lazy thumb lol but if you also have this problem here is an easy fix that worked for me:
1. Search Mouse Settings; 2. Additional Mouse Options; 3. Pad Settings; 4. Unclick pinch zoom; 5. Click Apply; 6. Click OK.

Cheap and Shows It

I got this laptop because it seemed like a reasonable value--low price, and decent specs. I've had it for two weeks, and today alone it has randomly restarted itself 3 times while I'm working on something. Runs very slow, which may be a combination of this laptop's hardware and the problems of Windows 10. Touchpad settings reset whenever you restart the computer. Get the loading symbol very very often. Sound quality from speakers isn't great. Just overall a very low-quality laptop, even for this price range. I definitely wouldn't buy it again, probably won't buy another HP either after this.

Nice laptop for the price

Positives: Sleek design, nice key pad, 6 hour battery, doesn't get hot, low energy usage, 1TB, processing is nice for the price, Windows 10, feels light, rubber under computer is nice, battery is small and lasts, screen is nice, keyboard is nice, dvd/cd drive, processing is nice for the price, speakers are loud enough, no issues with AMD 10
Negatives: arrow keys small (I use for scrolling), touch pad not most intuitive, computer screen hinges are pokey/sharp
Highly recommend for the price.

Good Bang for Buck

My opinion of course:
1) Best Mid range Laptop for the price
2) Hardware is excellent - R6 GPU is superior to current Intel one.
3) Screen is very Clear and HD
4) runs cool and quiet
Cons:
1) Windows 10 is the problem most people have been having with this & every other laptop. The updates will spew forth & bring the laptop to a halt many times. restarting without telling you.
2) The laptop will settle down once windows 10 finishes updating. especially after the 4 GIG download November update.
3) There is no Context key on keyboard. I use that a lot.
4) Upgrading the RAM, HDD is a major task & risky for even experienced geeks. you have to basically get inside & take the motherboard off ( OUCH!!) But it can be done if you YouTube it.

This was a great gaming pc for the price. I got 60 fps on minecraft and Warface. At first I thought this pc would suck. But it blown my mind. I would buy this pc for anything. You do need to upgrade the ram which im looking forward to when I get the chance.

Okay for average use but trackpad is insane

I typically just use my computer for photos, music, Internet, and some word processing, so this fits my needs. However, it has some very irritating issues - mostly with the trackpad. I have changed and applied and changed and applied the settings and it will revert back to the default. Even with all the changes I've made, I'm still unhappy with how it works.

Bought it for trips so I could play some games and check emails. It had a hard time with ARMA 3 but some of my older games it worked fine. Surfing the net was great.

Windows is now 'tabs'
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Microsoft has taken everthing you're used to and removed it.
If you don't like tabbed browsing buy an Apple cause the option of turning off 'tabbed' browsing is no longer there.
No desktop shortcuts, you can no longer create one.
Email? You cannot change fonts, size or colors.
Webpage font? Cannot change it, that option is gone too.
Cannot manage updates, option gone.
This O.S. is an absolute nightmare.
Everything 'windows' you're familiar with has been taken away from you.
Everything 'windows' you're come to enjoy has been removed.
Within two years, Microsoft will no longer exist.
Sell you stock now, while it's still worth something.
Oh......I returned this trash to the store.
Windows 10 isn't worth even five dollars
that's why they're giving it away free.

Worst Laptop Ever
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Absolutely DO NOT consider purchasing this laptop. I'd read decent reviews about it, and made the decision to buy it. Worst decision I ever made. Within the first week of use, it continually started to freeze up when running applications and I would have to do a hard shut down because the start menu would not even display. Upon restart, it would freeze up again within minutes. I evidently got the lemon of the batch, and am done with HP if this is the garbage they produce.
