This is an excellent computer for the home-user. As with all HP products, it is more than I expected. Graphics are awesome, speed is unbelievable compared to earlier models. Online gaming is made more enjoyable. Connected to our old surround sound system, it is GREAT for music. The price was right on this item. I had it set up by the Best Buy Geeksquad for my tastes and purposes and when I got it home, it was up and running in seconds! I was hesitant about the Windows 8.1 system, because I had heard nothing but bad comments...but that was all non-sense! Do not let windows 8.1 scare you. It has some incredible features and apps. I am having great fun exploring its capabilities! Ask your Best-Buy dealer about anything you are unsure of or have doubts about...They can demonstrate the product to your satisfaction.

Ok, so I need a new computer, not only for collage but for gaming. After shopping around I ran into this! LOVE IT! Super fast, whether your gaming or just browsing the web and listening to music. I've yet to have one problem with it after the first week of heavy gaming. Gets a steady 50-65 FPS on most newer games with the intergrated graphics card. No lag, no wait, no long load times. For the casual user its nice, just don't use Internet Explorer. It has problems on ALL computers and versions of Windows. For the bargain gamer, its great! Update the video card and you can run any game out right now. Out of the box I'm running Battlefield 3 with no probs. This machine is probably the best one I've ever bought!

Bought this computer yesterday and just wanted to post a review concerning the two very negative reviews posted to date that dealt with surfing the net. Windows 8.1 actually comes with two versions of IE, the condensed version on the start screen and the full version on the desktop. The one on the start screen is unusable it is so slow and should be eliminated. The version on the desktop is screaming fast. I suspect the two negative reviews were based on using the start screen version.

I am not a gamer, use this PC for mostly software development and home use. Out of the box solid workstation. Not a lot of extra software bundled with it. Have not had to uninstall anything yet. I would actually rate this 4.5 for two items which may not effect most. First, could use another 8 gig ram. However with 3 open slots, easy for growth. Adding a second hard drive (for backup) will be a challenge. Has extra sata port, but no usable expansion bay for it without some creativity. For the price, easily meets my needs. Plus after 30 minutes of swearing about Win8, actually now really like it.

I am writing this review on my ipad because the machine seems locked up and won't let me finish my registration to even write this review! I first noticed the internet slowness when I tried online shopping. The pages loaded fast but I could not scroll for about 30 seconds. The same thing happened on several different sites. Regular surfing like videos or news articles seem fine. I often shop online for business and this machine does not meet my requirements as it is sold. My only complaint is that I cannot quickly sort through online shopping pages. Hopefully I can find a fix for this problem.

I was purchasing a computer to play online games without crashing, did experience some technical difficulties.

The computer itself is awesome upgraded the power supply and added a graphics card to it and it runs perfect this computer can be used for the average user and for those who like to do work such as graphics work and video editing and many more things over all 10/10

I had to upgrade from my old HP Pavilion with Windows XP, I learned that program from scratch eight years ago without any classes. I don't think Windows 8.1 will be any harder to catch on to. I have loved my old HP Pavilion and I think I will like this one just as much! HP makes great products and I would have no problem buying that brand in the future. I don't see why so many have complaints about Windows 8, there is not that much difference other than they use different terminology with this one.

I have been a fan of HP for a while. My family owns 2 HP laptops and one desktop. Our office uses HP desktops. They are reliable.

MY DESKTOP IS GREAT RUN SINCE I BOUGHT IT LAST YEAR.

A little bulky, but it is a desktop. Good speed performance and nice storage capacity.

Need a new system in a hurry. Served the purpose for what I needed

I bought this piece of junk feb 13 2014 and it would not browse a webpage without extremely long delays I have checked settings and went to support for help, they talked me into spending 250.00 for security software compatible for this system and said it would fix the problem. Well it still does not work any better. Total waste of money

Wish I would have read the "Total waste of money" review before purchasing. Same issues. My 10 year old Dell's Internet Explorer runs faster than the IE on this hunk. It is constantly running slow, freezing or stalling. Then, to make matters that much better, when I called HP's version of customer assistance I was informed that even though I was still under warranty (as this computer is under 30 days old) that I would have to pay extra for HP's support on this particular issue!!! Their 1 year "warranty" apparently only covers issues they deem at the time. I was actually told to run under Chrome instead of Internet Explorer. Yea, that a problem fixer. Anyone looking for a new computer, do yourself a favor and stick with Dell.

So disappointed because this computer has some great specs but I guess I got a lemon. Bought this new computer a week ago and it has a rotating scratching noise coming from inside the tower since I 1st turned it on. Called HP and did all diagnostics tests that checked all hardware and reformatted the OS. No noise during diagnostics tests but still have the noise using the computer on a regular basis. Will be returning it back to the store tomorrow for a new one.

I called the store and asked if I could exchange it? I bought it this month. They said that I would have to get it fixed. So I guess i bought a piece of Junk or a new Boat Anchor. Won't be going back to this Store.
