I have been interested in detachable 2 in 1's ever since the original Asus Transformer Pad was launched. They have come a long way since and I was actually fairly surprised to find that several other manufacturer's have gotten on board with this format.
I did a lot of research on detachables and ultimately narrowed it down to the HP Pavilion X2, the Acer Switch 10e (500GB hard drive as an option) and the ASUS Transformer Pad T100HA (specs out pace all other competitors at the 300$ price point).
I ended up choosing the HP over the other two mostly on reviews, the faster chip (X5-8300) offered over the Acer and the fact that that I can attach the tablet to the keyboard in both directions (the Asus only attaches one way). Additionally the Acer did not get great reviews on build quality and while fully plastic, the HP feels really solid.
Pros:
-Extremely Portable. I take the X2 everywhere.
-Extremely versatile with or without keyboard.
-Powerful enough to do pretty much all basic tasks and even play a few lower end games.
-Very well built and yet lightweight
- Great battery life, reviews have seen as much as ten hours, I have yet to push it, but have watched Netflix for 4 or five hours and still have about 50% left.
-Great speakers that are more than capable of filling an entire room
-Comes with a one year license for Microsoft Office.
Cons:
-The only gripe I really have is that Best Buy only offers the Blizzard White. White does not seem like a great color for a device I plan to carry around a lot. Silver and Red are available, but only online.
-64GB is not a lot of space for full Windows 10. After clearing out bloatware, old install files and installing a few programs of my own about 15GB are taken up and about 42GB of usable space is left over.
-2GB of RAM is barely enough. I highly recommend getting rid of bloatware and other unnecessary programs as background processes and programs use about half of available RAM at all times. An upgradeable RAM chip would have been a good move by HP.
Recommendations for prospective buyers:
-Buy a large capacity micro sd card. The X2 can read up to 128GB cards, but if you're not willing to shell out the money for a card the big, 32/64GB cards can be had for under 30$ and effectively double storage space.
-This is a great little device as long as you remember what it is and what it was designed for. For everyday tasks it is more than capable. I use mine for mobile media and web browsing on the go and have yet to see any issues. Don't buy this and expect it to play the latest games or try to do thirty things at once.
Conclusion:
I would highly recommend this to anyone that likes the idea of a tablet but isn't quite ready to move on from their laptop or to someone that wishes their tablet had a real keyboard. This is a great little machine for everyday tasks, especially when it can just about fit in your pocket. If you only use your computer for web browsing, word processing and streaming media I would strongly consider this as alternative. That being said I would not use this as your main computer as it really isn't up to snuff. HP would have made a huge difference had they offered this with 3GB or 4GB or RAM or made it user upgradeable even if offered for a slightly higher price.

I went through 2 different units and both were the same. The seam at the top of the tablet had a large visible crack. The tablets seemed buggy and did not run well. I have owned an HP Stream 11 before and it was built much better than this.

I'm very impressed with the speed and storage. Very nice fit and finish case as well. I spent about 4hrs loading software and uninstalling a couple things I didn't want or need. If you're familiar with windows it's very easy. I'm running Punch! home design software and 3D renderings and walk through is smooth and crisp! That slows a little depending on how detailed the design is. 800 song music library runs fantastic with windows media player and blue tooth connection to external speakers.

Didnt work a week after getting it.... called company and i had to PAY to send it to China and even tho everyone else on the internet was having the same issue, they wanted me to pay for repair and return shipping. And of course, if you dont pay for a BB warranty, they wouldnt let me exchange or return.

Less than 6 weeks of buying HP x2 210 tablet computer. Computer is being sent back to mfg. Very upset paid additional $100 dollars to have data transferred... now just a waste of money... thought buying the better HP would be worth it... wrong decision...

A month after purchasing, my laptop died. Best Buy only has a 10 day return policy. Luckily the geek squad was able to get it working again. Will never shop at Best Buy again. Worst experience ever.

First of all--I bought three of these within a week. One for my mother, then one for me, then my wife had to have one. We all love them. In reading other reviews, I think most negatives come from folks expecting too much of this little machine. It's an Atom processor with 2GB of RAM--not a powerhouse laptop. It's PERFECT for web browsing, email, any MS Office tasks, streaming movies, accessing cloud content, playing Majong, Skype, etc. It's quick to wake, quick to charge, long battery life, nice screen for the size. The fit and finish is beautiful and make it feel like a well built machine. The size is convenient, as is the detachability. If your expectation is to have a smooth running, ultra-portable little lappy you can throw in your bag and depend on for the basics every day, you'll love it. If you want something with robust specs to run resource intensive games and programs -- look way beyond Atom/2GB -- you're in the wrong section.

This unit only works as a tablet. Keyboard is useless and crashes the operating system. I found at least one other person that had the same problem with several units. It has a keyboard driver problem that HP will not admit to or fix at present.

I don't usually write review but this time i have to.well i was exciting about this device but I'm so disappointed right now, everything was ok and smooth until i upgraded to windows 10,then problems started, the device keep restaring shows a blue page and error message.a customer mentioned this problem after his upgrade but i though his tablet was defective,I'll return it and maybe get a surface 3 that's all,you get what you pay for remember that.Don't waste your time and your money on this tablet.
