Great Laptop - but Very Long Charger
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great performance in a small package. It is prone to fingerprints but nothing a quick wipe won't fix. The insignia screen cleaner works well. Charger is ridiculously long. Form factor would've been nice if they had prongs on the end but instead they want to attach a long power cable. Defeats the purpose of having a slim portable laptop when the charger is insanely long causing added bulk in your bag. Big gripe since HP has enabled protection on their USB C charging (non HP USB-C chargers will not work). Laptop runs fairly cool and does not get hot. Only way I can see this happening is if someone blocks the intake vents on the bottom of the laptop. Fan noise is minimal, if you believe it to be running too long you may want to check the HP support assistance app. I had this happen once where it was causing high CPU usage (speeding up battery drain), but not since then. Battery life is not as advertised as other mentioned. More like 6 hours for me, but keep in mind that for a unit this thin, with an i5, i7 processor (not the energy saving m series that aren't as powerful) it isn't that awful. Charger, charging lockdown by HP and battery life keep this from being a 5* unit.

Powerful machine for a thin ultrabook
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.HP has really upped their game with this machine. I have an older elitebook at work and the initial thought of buying an HP made me cringe. However, the build quality and performance are astounding. I use this primarily for programming and development work, and I have not suffered any performance limitations. The battery life is meh though, I get 4 hours out of it, so unfortunately this will only make it to lunch before having to plug it in. It also doesn't charge through a battery pack. The carbon fiber chassis makes this machine strong yet light. There isn't much to upgrade other than the SSD; I popped in a 512 Samsung SSD and it was kind of a bear to migrate the data since this is the newer PCI Express interface. This didn't come with too much bloatware, other than McAfee which I instantly uninstalled. Gaming performance is OK, I've only played life is strange on this and it did a decent job but it's not a graphics intensive game. This does come with a USB-C to Type-A adapter, and a black leather sleeve to keep it protected. I have hooked this up to an external monitor using a generic USB-C to HDMI adapter and it worked just fine. As others have mentioned, this is a fingerprint magnet and I managed to get a small spot of discoloration on the copper part. The keyboard is comfortable but the backlit can only be turned on or off, its not dimmable. The headset port works just fine and I'd recommend buying a good set of headphones because the speakers aren't great. It sounds OK when its on your lap, but when you put it on a table its not as loud and sounds tinny. Unfortunately the Bang & Olufsen sound imaging software only works with the speakers and is disabled when you plug headphones in but there is an equalizer.

Thinner, but......
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer is amazingly thin and makes it easy to throw in a tote and take it anywhere. BUT -- the battery does not last very long at all -- maybe an hour or so, depending on what programs you are running and how much you are doing. AND the fan runs almost constantly and is VERY loud. I was working on my computer while watching a TV show with my husband (sitting across the room) and he asked what that noise was. Yep, it was the fan. So this may seem like the perfect computer, but having to carry the charge cord around and explain to people why your fan is so loud is not a plus or selling point to anyone. HP needs to work on this to make it a better purchase. I would not recommend buying this unless you are willing to put up with the quickly discharging battery and the loud fan.

Very happy with my Sceptre Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I traded in my 5 year old mac book on this laptop. I have not used Windows for a while, but windows 10 is a big improvement over version 7. The laptop has a great screen, a CPU that runs cooler than my old Mac and wicked fast. I have also installed Ubuntu on it in a separate partition with a bit of effort. Some of the BIOS features have been disabled by HP initially which was frustrating for me. When I run my laptop on Ubuntu, I can get 2 hours more use on battery vs Windows. I am guessing that whole OneCloud ecosystem and big brother features are using up quite a bit of power under Windows 10. Regardless, so far the hardware proved to be very good quality, looks good, fast and runs cool. Laptop weights very little also. I am very happy and impressed. The keyboard is much more comfortable for me, vs new Apple offerings. If you are not aware, this laptop only has 3 USB-C /Thunderbolt ports so your old USB-A/B devices will need adapters or a mini docking station. The laptop is charged through one of the ports, It was not a big deal for me, but can be a problem for some.

Battery life
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nice lap top slim, lightweight and fast but after 14 months the battery life has been reduced to 3.5 hours per charging. That's not gaming or viedo use, that's emails and surfing. I have never had a lap top that has lost that much charging capacity. The problem is how do you know what the battery life will be after a year? This unit is too expensive to have a poor performing battery after a year.

Powerful and Sleek
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have never owned a computer this thin and light weight that is also this powerful. The Spectre has enough power to meet most of your computing needs. However, do to the thinness of this computer, running complex programs like Photoshop or games, does cause it to heat up quite a bit. Not enough to cause damage, but enough to make using it on your lap a little uncomfortable. Overall, this is a great computer and great for anyone one the go. It's easy to take with you anywhere you go and looks great while to boot.

Love it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this product for about 3-4 days and absolutely love it! its super thin and portable. It has a great keyboard and overall really fast machine. BUT the only thing that bothers me is the color. Only reason why i gave it 4 stars. I am actually thinking of returning the item and repurchasing once different color options become available. I just feel the current color is fit for women rather than men.

Great 13.3" laptop!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this computer for about 2 weeks now and I love it! It's thin, lightweight and the battery lasted 3 days before it needed charging. It runs Windows 10 which I'm already familiar. It is not a touch screen, but that didn't bother me . The 3 USB C ports were a surprise but I think I can overcome that problem. Overall a great slim laptop that has lots of memory and plenty of RAM.

Great laptop with some cons
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The performance of this laptop is on target. It is a beautiful laptop but there are some minor cons. First the track pad tend to keep opening new windows, which can be annoying after a while. Secondly, the battery life is not that great. Probably 4-5 hours with intermediate use. Other than that its a pretty solid laptop.

Super Thin Laptop to Comb your Hair
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is like a mirror with lots of annoying glare in the background. You can comb your hair by looking into the screen. Normally that would not be a problem but neither HP nor a 3rd party sells an anti glare screen for it. Also while it's thin it's also bulky being very wide compared to the Surface Pro 4. This may not be a problem if you really need the 13.3" screen compared to the 12.3" screen of the Surface Pro. Also the Core i& CPU while fast shortens the actual battery life to 4 hours if you use the internet a lot. Finatlly this is a laptop that you'll either love or hate depending on your needs. I find the USB-C ports on the back of the laptop annoying since they are not convenient to get to. The good news about the USB-C ports is that you can use any Macbook 12 adapter and it wlil work rather than paying $30-40 for an HP adapter.

Highly recommended.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a laptop to use for work while travelling. I was looking at the Dell XPS 13 but could not find one in time for an upcoming trip. I stumbled on this model in my local store and was struck by how light and thin it is...but decided to take a chance. Holy moley, was I impressed. This laptop does everything I ask it to do and more. I am able to run a Windows 7 and Ubuntu virtual machines without lag. The keyboard is comfortable and responsive. I paired with a Logitech M535 bluetooth mouse and am very happy with the results. The only limitations that I can see that some may not like are: 1, only has USB C connectors 2. video card limited. Plays games like Left 4 Dead 2 and Kerbal Space Program without a hitch but don't expect to run the latest FPS. Would buy again in a heartbeat.

Great Computer, makes my travels a lot easier,
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this computer and absolutely love it! Having 3 USB C ports is great for any hard drives, phones etc. Others have griped about the screen but the screen is great in my opinion. You don't need a 4K screen in a computer, it's a waste of battery and computer resources, the 1080p screen in this is just fine, besides most people at typical computer viewing distances can't tell the difference between 1080p and 4K.

decent computer but not the best
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The look of this computer is amazing, its super thin and light. the gold and black is extremely appealing. After buying the computer and returning it within 2 days, i have to say that, looks aren't everything. the battery life is terrible! 5-6 hours on a full charge and the resolution is like watching tv in the 90's. my new macbook pro with the i5 processor is sooooo much better in every way. HP needs to step up their game.

Excellent light weight lap top for small business
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This HP - Spectre 13.3 Laptop is an affordable excellent very thin light weight laptop for all of my small business purposes. I purchased it from Best Buy because it was available on display at their Portland, ME store, which gave me the opportunity to experience it before purchasing. It comes with a nice case for ease of travel. I highly recommend this particular HP laptop. However, because it is so thin, you will need additional adapters until all products, such as memory sticks, are made compatible. Also, a reminder that because it is so thin, it does not have a CD rom drive.

Thin, powerful, impressive all the way around
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent premium Windows 10 notebook. Bought this for my son to take to college. He wanted to stay with a Windows laptop as most people migrated or drove us to the MacBook Air. My son has Used iPhones and iPads for years, but doesn't like the operating system on their laptops (we've let him use our MacBook Pro for a while at home to see what he'd prefer). Compared to other premium laptops this stood out for having the i7 processor, 256gb ssd and 8gb ram at the best value. Being portable was one of the main features and this is the thinnest laptop currently sold. Having at least 6.5 to 7 hour battery life of continual use was a must. This laptop has not disappointed, so much so, my wife said she'd like one now as well.

Great attempt by HP, but battery is dismal!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I waited months for the lightest and thinnest 13" laptop with a Intel core i7. It has many terrific features; size, weight, awesome display, keyboard, etc. But for my uses, the negatives are too much to overcome; TERRIBLE Battery life (I have turned off Bluetooth, turned down display brightness, using power management settings, etc.) yet I am lucky to get 2.5 hours of web surfing and streaming of Netflix! Charging cord is long and bulky for travel. Audio is crisp and clear, but volume is insufficient if there is any background noise in the room at all. I guess it is back to MacAir; as much as I wanted to get onto Windows 10. Extremely disappointed in HP's claim of 9 hours of battery life. Do they not test their prototypes out first?
