    Looks over function

Beautiful laptop, but that's where the pros end. All ports are USB-C (luckily they include a connector) which can be a pro or a con depending on how you see it. It's incredibly slim and light (almost as light as Apple). Sound is pretty nice, but I've experienced multiple issues out of the box. I had the Geek Squad complete software updates, install Webroot antivirus, Office 365, etc. Things seemed to be working well when I left the store. Excited about the possibility of configuring my settings I tried to set up Cortana (Windows version of Siri). The mic didn't work anymore. It took Geek Squad phone support an hour to get it running again. Then I found out my mail/calendar weren't syncing properly. The fan is LOUD. It's so loud that Cortana can't even hear you over the whir of the fan lol. More importantly, the system is quite slow. Trying to load the sticky notes app used so much processing abilities that it couldn't open links, delayed cursor, and made the fan get crazy loud. I thought I could eliminate these issues that I'd had in the past with a brand new laptop with no files installed. Instead, just trying to open MS Word or the sticky notes app FROZE THE ENTIRE LAPTOP. I couldn't even get it to restart properly so I finally just manually powered down. Basically a useless computer. Also, it gets incredibly HOT. Since it's metal it's a good heat conductor and can actually burn you if you use it on your lap without a barrier. I would NOT recommend this laptop. I've only had it 3 days and have had to use Geek Squad Support at least once everyday. It's not worth the frustration.

    Good Resolution for Software

    Posted .

The other reviews already cover the excellent points about this ultrabook. Another important point is that the 1080p resolution is much better for Wordperfect and other word processing programs than the 2K and 3K resolution screens. The icons and text will not be too small and there won't be glitches with the graphics card crashing because of software not designed for super high resolution screens. With this computer the resolution is still high enough that you won't notice any difference in picture and video quality, but you'll be saved from a lot of the software compatibility issues i experienced both with a 3K Asus as well as a 2K HP, before discovering that the 1080p resolution on this computer solved the problem.

Best laptop ive had. Thinner than I thought would be and its a beast. I love it. Only minor complaint I have is the screen doesnt tilt back as much as i would like. But besides that its amazing, its a must buy.

This Laptop Is Top of the Line

Quite beautiful even at 1080p. You can go to Best Buy and see it for yourself, but the one thing you cannot do at Best Buy is color calibration which is included in the software on this PC. It refreshes at 60Hz and there is no sign of ghosting at all.

    Not Very Good

The laptop is thin and light and has a good processor. That is about all it has going for it. The keyboard does not have very good feel to it, the trackpad is far too small and the HD screen is not as good as other higher resolution screens in this price range. The screen compromise shows itself in some programs. The lack of standard ports will be a pain for most users. There are much better laptops in this price range.

After 20 Years of HP, This One Made me Buy the Mac

I owned this PC for precisely three hours last weekend. I've owned HP laptops in general for over 15 years, and used one since the very first Compaq Portable 386 (which was at the time not HP). I know HP. I really wanted to love this PC. Small, slick, PC based (my comfort zone), powerful, reasonably priced. But that's where it ended. After I got it home, it was one aggravation after the other. Loud as as an Airbus A320 on the tarmac. Track pad made a ticking sound with all but the lightest taps. The final straw was it would not install iTunes. Really?? Google: 'Windows 10 won't install iTunes' and you'll know what I'm talking about. I had enough. I turned it back in that day, bought a 13" Macbook Pro, and I can promise you it is worth the hype. I feel like I'm free now, and I'm not looking back.

    Buyer Beware! Proprietary USB-C Ports!

I've done a lot of reviewing on this ultrabook and I do have to say its a Apple Macbook/Pro/Air contender for super thin and lite notebooks. Great battery life, larger screen, 13.3 compared to Apples 12inch Macbook. Resolution wise this HP is only 1080p compared to Macbook retina screen, and Apple also has about 300 more ppi then HP. In my opinion 1080p is just fine for these small laptops, but if your more into larger screen realestase MacBook is going to be the one for you as you can change your resolution in mac OSX. Configuration options allow you a replaceable M.2 SSH up to 500GB you can install yourself latter if you need more space. Ram is built on the board so no upgrading it. HP has a way better CPU then Apples M (mobile processor) However when you push the i5/i7 CPU it will throttle and a loss of performance will happen. Also the fans will make noise, this is the biggest difference from the MacBook and HP is MacBook uses a core M (mobile processor) so there is no cooling needed, HP uses a duel core i7 and i5 CPU which does need cooling. One thing thats is sweet but is very poor, Macbook has 1 USB-C port, which a lot of people complain about...... HOWEVER HP MADE THEIR 3 USB-C ports "Proprietary" That means you can't really use anything other then HP cables or adapters... HP charges like $90.00 per cable. This is absolutely ridiculous and brings this 5 star laptop to a 1 star in my opinion. Who cares if this has 100 USB-C ports if your going to lock us down on your own gear. Apple the one company that is publicly known for locking its consumers down to their products ALLOWS you to use any USB-C cable you want!!!!!! WTF HP? Because of this PROPRIETARY USB-C ports I have returned the unit and I don't recommend it to others.

Loud fan, hassle having to carry around the USB-C dongle, defective trackpad. Manufacturing a laptop this thin calls for some sacrifices, but the negatives are unbearable.

New out of box, tried to connect to internet (home wifi) and it won't connect. Went online (with old Toshiba connected to my wifi) to HP Support, went through their troubleshooter and still doesn't work. Will take back tomorrow and get another Toshiba.
