I;m convinced this is the best laptop I could get. True, a bit pricey but GREAT. Never wanted a touch display so if you're into that look elsewhere. Buy USB hub, there is only one adapter in the box.

after about a week's worth of fairly heavy usage, i am actually quite impressed with this laptop. ultra-thin, light, good screen, with good speed. for the average user needing a daily machine to travel and accomplish light to medium duty tasks, this fits the bill nicely in my opinion.
the good:
size - incredibly light weight and thin. feels essentially the same as my full size tablet in my bag. for something this portable, there don't seem to be a ton of tradeoffs.
speed - intel i7 CPU, plenty of processing power for most tasks. i had no issues installing office and streaming a full blu-ray rip from my local server at the same time.
screen quality - could be seen as a positive or negative. at 1080p resolution, it won't compete with some higher resolution screens, but at this size, it actually works quite well in my opinion. windows 10 also features a smart scaling settings, which, once turned off, made text and images much more pleasing to my eye. if your vision's not so great, you might want to leave the scaling on.
keyboard - good key travel and tactile feel for a laptop of this thickness. also has a backlit keyboard on/off button.
battery - unless you're taxing the processor quite a bit (which kicks on the internal fan), battery life seems to be quite respectable.
usb type C- again, could be seen as a negative as well, but as usb type C gains popularity, it will certainly be nice to have.
price - for something so thin, with an i7 chip, the price is actually not bad. you could get something faster, with a better screen, for this price point, but it will be several times thicker and heavier. if size is a key factor for you, this laptop is a great option.
the bad:
screen quality - some users may see this as a negative, though i don't necessarily. does it look as good as other high res displays? no. does it look good in spite of that? absolutely.
battery - with intensive CPU usage which, again, causes the internal fan to spin up, the battery life seems to be shortened quite a bit.
windows 10 - some users aren't going to be huge fans of the operating system. it can take some getting used to, but at the end of the day, shouldn't be much of an issue. things are *mostly* where you expect them to be, and if you like windows in general, windows 10 isn't that much of a stretch (certainly an improvement over 8, but that's a review for another time.)
again, overall, a very nice laptop for what it is: an ultra-portable, very capable, stylish HP laptop.

This is my first Windows machine in almost 8 years. I have been exclusively using Mac and a bit of Linux as of late. So it took me a while to get used to Windows 10 (last Windows used regularly was Vista). Definitely not my favorite OS but we'll see how the newest version holds up over time. One of the hassles I remember regarding Windows was installing printers and other hardware. I can report that my Epson photo printer was detected over the wireless network and installed without any issue.
Overall this is a very capable machine. The screen is 1920x1080, which is perfect for watching movies. Any lower would be too low and any higher would probably be unnecessary for this screen size. There appears to be no degradation in image quality when viewed from off angles.
I really like that HP included a toggle to turn on the backlit keyboard and it has a button to toggle airplane mode on/off.I will probably start taking this with me for traveling as it's so thin and light it can sit in the pocket with my 10" tablet and I can use it on the plane instead of trying to work on my 15" laptop. That is definitely a plus.
I haven't had it long enough to judge battery life but I've been using it pretty heavily and haven't had to charge it too often. I really like that it charges via USB-C. That allows me to use the same USB-C cable that I charge a competitors 12" laptop with while keeping my charging station a little less cluttered.
No issues in training my fingers to use keyboard. It's pretty much a full size keyboard with plenty of travel for the keys.
The speakers are actually really good for such a thin device. Quite impressed. They are by Bang and Olufsen. Turning them up to full volume does not cause much distortion at all but there is very little bass at any volume. They go pretty loud as well. Watching some shows on Netflix I was really impressed with the stereo separation.
I didn't have any issues with performance doing tasks such as web browsing, checking emails, watching movies and the such. I don't have many recent or demanding games but I tried playing Cities: Skylines which it handled quite well. The fan was on most of the time but the bottom side did not get hot and I did not see any graphical stutters at all during gameplay.
Did I mention how thin and light this laptop is? It's perfect for anyone who needs to be mobile or needs the portability unless you just want something with a larger screen or more graphics horsepower for gaming or media editing, etc.
