Customers are saying
Customers are impressed with the Spectre x2's keyboard, which is a notable advantage over the Surface Pro. The price is also seen as reasonable. Customers appreciate the long battery life and sleek design. The inclusion of LTE connectivity is also seen as a bonus. There are some concerns about the bezels being larger compared to the Surface Pro 4, but overall, customers are positive about the Spectre x2.

Buy a Surface Instead
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had high hopes for the HP Spectre X2. I purchased the 128gig version. The unit feels solid and the keyboard is nice. The unit only has USB Type C 2.0 (not 3.0/3.1) ports. The battery life is also not as good as I had hoped, it seemed to only make it about half the day. Finally, the unit is supposed to support Wacom technology based pens, but it does not. I spent 1.5 hours on the phone with HP and Wacom trying to get this working. HP was absolutely useless. Wacom was able to quickly determine that the system was not equipped to use the Wacom technology. Thus, if you want to use a pen, you will have to use a standard (old school) stylus. Based on all of this, I will be taking mine back to BestBuy for a refund.

I so wanted to like, no love it. But I don't.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was extremely excited when i saw the HP offering. as a long time Surface Pro and Surface 3 user on Verizon. This seemed like a no brainer. While everyone else waited for the Surface Pro 4, I just knew this was going to be the one for me. So, why did I think that you may ask. 1st. it have core M (so i figured just the right combo of power and battery) then it had Verizon LTE built in, Then it had 128gn ssd, 4gb ram, and a solid keyboard with spaced keys, a large trackpad, and built in speakers. All for 799 without contract. What's there not to like? Well the build quality was not close to the surface, it has far too much give in it's large body, like it will bend and break. The LTE set up was off, it worked but on Verizons side they never read what unit I had connected. The unit seemed slow and battery drained faster than I was accustomed with the Surface pro 2, pro 3 and even Surface 3. Overall, this unit was just not up to the Surface. With that said there were positives. The Keyboard is by far the best I've use in this class and the built in LTE was a great perk.

Nice 2-in-1 to get work done on
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, I rated it a 4 because I first purchased one directly through HP with a larger drive and twice the memory. After 4 days the screen went blank and it was totally useless. It took 3 week to get it directly from HP when I ordered it and it looked like at least a 3 weeks turn around time to get it repaired. Since it was still in the 30 no questions ask return for HP, I sent it back. It was back to the drawing board. I looked at a Dell and an Asus, but when I saw this one on sale, I could not resist. Because I had really liked it when it worked. The Good: Very snappy overall. It boots in seconds and is ready to use as soon as I get signed on. Keyboard has a nice feel and touch. This is the first track pad laptop that I actually like the track pad on. Very smooth and responsive. Keyboard attaches and detaches very easily and I have not had it detach accidentally yet. The kick stand works great and can be put in any position within it's range of motion and stays there. When using it as a tablet the screen is responsive and using the split on-screen keyboard, I have been able to type effectively. As compared to the 2-in-1s that do not have a detachable keyboard, I like being able to not have my fingers resting on a folded over keyboard and the slightly lighter weight. The Keyboard is very light, but the less I have to hold up the better. With the M processor there is no fan. the machine may get a little warm after a few hours, but less than most. The "Bad": As should be expected the 12" table is kind of heavy after awhile. (see comment on detachable keyboard.) But, no more so than an Ipad or Android. I have had some problems with the Chrome browser shutting down for no reason. I have several Win-10 machines and have not experienced this on any other machine. The battery lasts about 7 hours. I was hoping for a little more with the M processor. I have not connected it to my Verizon account yet. After my first experience, I wanted to be sure I would be able to keep it. So, no feedback on that feature.

Good product especially for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this on Black Friday and later got a price match. Finally the product cost me $730, which I think is an amazing price for such a form factor. Before I start my review pls check the latest price with your bestbuy , you also might save another $70. I ended up saving $300 over the m3 SP4 which is like a decent saving and I feel the trade offs are only minor and are : 1. Lower resolution screen , but on an average cant really make out any difference. ( not many people have any 4K content ) 2. Slightly inferior battery life 3. The bezels on the screen are big, especially noticeable in tablet mode. 4. Patchy behavior, once in 8-9 sessions of use something happens , which I think is more windows than HP. BUT WE ALL KNOW WHAT THE SP4 IS DOING TO ITS USERS 5. The tablet weight could be lesser. 6. The only really BAD thing is the trackpad. Sucks . 7. The button to release hinge can be rigid. Might want to use it before buying to see what I mean. The SP4 definitely looks killer to me, but I have had bad experiences with windows phone in terms of hardware so was also wary about buying the SP4 especially after the constant reports of bugs kept coming in. In my experience MS will keep saying they are on it but nothing will improve. The Positives : 1. Keyboard is stellar 2. USB type C is quick and definitely 3.0 speeds 3. LTE support At the end of the day all the negatives are very minor other than the trackpad. If you can live with them and also save $230 - 300 , even more if you use Verizon then I think it is equally as good as SP4 if not better. PS - Have not bought the pen, neither used it.

excellent alternative to surface
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I pulled the trigger and decided to purchase this versus the sp3 or sp4. I read some reviews here that the user had issues with the screen flickering randomly. This is true, however, it is not hardware related and caused by the drivers on windows 10. I also had the screen flicker after just 4 hours of use. However, after running a manual update I found the drivers for the wlan, bluetooth, bios, and intel video was not up to date. after installing the updates I can report that there is no flicker after extensive use. The system is smooth and the added usb-c to usb-a adapter and keyboard/cover is a welcome bonus.

Good Try
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You have to download alot of drivers to get things to work.Like to recognize the SD card. The on screen keyboard does not make the click noise even when you have it switched on. Chrome keeps crashing. The touch is super sensitive even with calibrated. When scrolling through the browser it will automatically click on unwanted items. The on screen keyboard does not always come up when in tablet mode. The computer itself gets leggy even when minimum apps are running. The physical keyboard is good. So far it is a good try, maybe the next generation will be better, but thinking about going to the surface pro for better support and more information available.

Excellent Alternative to Surface Pro 4
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had my sights set on a MS Surface Pro 4 with the Core M3 processor. I didn't want to spend over $1k for it + keyboard. While doing research, I came upon the x2 and dismissed it due to my tunnel vision in buying the Surface brand. The price of the x2 was extremely tempting, so I read some reviews and watched some videos online. I decided to purchase from Best Buy and give it a shot. I'm impressed overall, enough to give it 5 stars -- so here are the things I don't like: Large bezels compared to SP4 (This is an aesthetic issue and has zero bearing on performance) Power adaptor (The x2 is stylish, even the packaging is well done, so why does the power adaptor look like it's straight out of 1996?) Logos (I prefer an understated design, I hate logos, again this is personal preference and has zero effect on performance) My ultimate verdict is BUY. I'm as brand conscious as the next nerd, but I had to get over my lust for an SP4 and decide with my brain. Why spend an extra $400 for a similarly spec'd SP4? I don't need the extra pixels or W10 Pro. NOTE: I did a fresh reinstall of W10 a day after buying the x2 and see a dramatic improvement in the system performance and smoothness.

Best of Both Worlds
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome as a lap top and windows tablet. Although most of the time I use it as a lap top and use it as a tablet only when I stream video (from my satellite tv provider, Netflix, etc.) Battery life is about 5-6 hours at full brightness and about 7-9 hours at a notch below which is excellent. Highly recommended.

GREAT COMPUTER
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I first received this laptop, I thought I was going to have to return it. I was having issues removing the SD card slot to insert an SD after with much force I succeeded but then I find out the slot does not read my SD. I took it to best buy and spoke with a GeeK and all they said was return it! I walked out, came home and contacted HP...they were simply amazing. HP remotely installed and updated the drivers and Bios and now its working like a CHAMP. This laptop is super fast and I love how thin and light it is. Another great buy!

Best of both worlds
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Beautiful design. I bought it when it was on sale, got it at a great price. Good 12in tablet and with one click turns into laptop. Compare to surface pro 4 , you get better value for the buck. Highly recommend it.

Disappointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am self employed and have had nothing but problems with this device starting and working properly. Only owned the device 3 months. Keyboard lights up but the screen doesnt work. I can't even troubleshoot the device with a black screen. HP takes 2-3 weeks to service the device. I purchased it for its compact size and wireless capabilities to use on the go but it doesnt even work. If you purchase this product you better have a backup device available and HP will not provide you with any temporary device or replace it until they have serviced it a minimum of 3 times. Very disappointed i spent almost $700 for a device i cant count on for any length of time and breaks within 90 days.

Love this laptop BUT ...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.... though its not technically locked to Verizon you wont be able to use another carrier's SIM card in it. For some reason HP decided to build it with their 4G card that only supports Verizon frequencies. I really would have loved to keep this but that's a pretty massive oversight and I'll be returning it tomorrow.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do not waste your money on this piece of ****!! Even though I read the reviews I decided I was still going to give it a chance but it is worse than described! Sure it is sleek and beautiful/light weight but it s****!! Videos can't stream, keeps turning off and won't turn on. And when you finally manage to turn it on it makes this horrible screeching noise!! Do not waste your money, you will regret it!!

Important programs hang every time.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had very high expectations for HP Spectre x2 12. The price was on the mark and the BestBuy sales person was helpful. However, critical programs hang every single time. Even after updates from Microsoft and HP itself, Chrome and Outlook will hang and give you the "program not responding" message. Chrome hangs after a video. Outlook will crash and wipe away lengthy messages. Tech-oriented Websites are filled with identical complaints, yet HP has done nothing to resolve this. I have stayed away from HP after some negative experiences, but I hoped that the Spectre line marked a turning point. I hate returning computers and so I'll sit tight for a few more days, but unless HP acknowledges the problem and posts a fix, I'll have no choice but to return it.

Posted .Hi there BestBuyShopper123,
I understand that you have already done updates from Microsoft and HP and you are still having issues with Chrome and Outlook. Are you using the Outlook.com website to look at emails? Is it only these two software programs that are having issues? Do you have the same issues with Internet Explorer also? Have you tried to use these programs in Safe Mode or after doing a clean boot? There are many options for you to get help with troubleshooting. Please do not hesitate to reach out to the HP Support Forums for help: http://h30434.www3.hp.com You can also reach out to us @HPSupport or hp.com/contacthp so that we can assist you better. DON'T BUY!!!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received one as a Christmas gift and quickly returned it after turning it on for the first time because the screen started flashing. Exchanged for another one and it did the same thing! I spent 6 hours on the phone with HP updating, resetting drivers, doing a factory reset and nothing worked. It kept crashing, the screen would flash every few minutes, and there was a lag when I would type. I finally returned it after not feeling comfortable with HP phrasing "We will do our best to fix the issue" when I kept asking for reassurance that my computer would be fixed. People were returning the same computer to the store while I was there so its not just me. These computers are garbage. Hopefully everyone will get their money back.

Great form factor, poor performance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The tablet is so light and well built I was extremely happy till I started to attempt to use basic programs like fresh paint and the chrome browser that were met with constant freezing and restarting. After wiping it twice I returned it.
