    Excellent Convertible Notebook

I purchased this HP Spectre x360 to replace a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 because I could not stand the flimsy type cover and lack of ports with the Surface Pro 3. I needed a laptop that could mimic a tablet, not a tablet that could mimic a laptop. I did a lot of research on convertible laptops and picked the Spectre x360 over the Lenovo Yoga 900, Surface Book, and Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 12. I read some complaints with the Spectre about slow wireless speeds and wireless connection drops. Mine too did this until I updated the driver for the embedded Bluetooth adapter and tweaked the configuration of the wireless adapter to always run at maximum performance. Apparently the old Bluetooth driver somehow interfered with the wireless connection, and others reported that disabling the Bluetooth adapter made their wireless connection issues go away. Turning off Bluetooth was not an option for me, and I’ve experienced no dropped connections or slow wireless downloads ever since updating the Bluetooth driver and wireless configuration. I am so far very satisfied with this device. It does everything my Surface Pro 3 did but faster; with a larger, higher resolution screen; larger hard drive; plus I can comfortably use it in laptop mode while it sits on my lap. My only criticism is that it doesn’t have an integrated bio-metric security device that works with Windows 10 Hello, such as a fingerprint scanner or 3D face recognition camera. Overall I am happy, and I plan to keep the Spectre x360 and sell the Surface Pro 3.

    Awesome Ultrabook from HP

HP Spectre X360 is one of the highest rated Ultrabooks and Convertible Laptops out there. I tried the Apple MacBook Pro 13" with Retina display before this. I returned it because the storage space (128Gb) was inadequate, now I have 512 Gb for roughly the same price. The screen is absolutely the best I've seen. Keyboard is great and the Ash Silver makes it stand out better than the silver color backlighting. I don't use the trackpad much as I have a wireless mouse. The touch screen is great too and I can use an active stylus to draw or take notes. I recommend the Dell stylus over the HP one. Battery charges quickly and does not last as long as the Apple, but there is more power consumed with the Core I7 processor than the Apple's Core I5. Best part is the screen swivels a full 360 degrees unlike a traditional laptop. The Ash Silver color scheme is simply gorgeous with its copper accents. Speakers have adequate volume and B&O has EQ settings that make them better.

I was moments away from ordering a Yoga 900 when i decided on this. the build quality is what made me pivot at the last moment. I had read too many complaints about the Yoga feeling sub standard, and after a few months of use, physically falling a part and looking ragged. I also considered the Surface Book and Surface Pro, but they couldn't come close to the price point. Furthermore, I did not want the detachable keyboard. This special edition spectre is beautiful to look at and performs great. new i7, 8gb Ram, and 512GB ssd in brushed aluminum for 1299 was a good deal. 4 stars because I did experience a common issue with the wireless. Found the resolution online (it also went away when I got a new wireless router), but I feel HP should have resolved the issue by now.

Purchased the HP Spectre x360 2-in-1 13.3 Touch-Screen Laptop (Intel Core i7, 8GB Memory, 512GB Solid State Drive) in Ash Silver color although the color looks more of a bronze/copper/chocolate. Love the color and elegant design. The display/screen is good quality. It is a beautiful PC. Very disappointed in the sound quality of speakers (Bang & Olufsen); it's awful. Using this HP laptop as the main PC in my office and connected to Bose desktop speakers. Due to the small size/slim design, there is no CD-Rom.

Although it was a Geeksquad certified open box product still it had a problem in booting up after it went to sleep mode due to inactivity. I tried to get the same laptop(open box) but the unfortunately the promotion was over. Overall it was a disappointing experience.

Great Laptop but very poor WIFI connection range

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Just got the delivery of this laptop 3 days back and I am really disappointed by its WIFI range. Its really painful as I have to sit next to my router to access internet and the moment I move away 20-30 feet the connection drops and won't connect or even show in the available list? Whereas my tablets and the old HP Folios connects flawlessly even at 50' with full bars. I work from home a lot so have a 50/5Mbps internet connection but this laptop won't connect? I also called HP support and was lucky to get to the agent fairly quickly. The support agent was very helpful and did many things including driver updates but the problem was not resolved. With a laptop as expensive and new like this one I don't want to spend time with the hp support so would rather go ahead and return it and look for other options. Undoubtedly, this laptop has an excellent design and features but all that is useless if it can't connect to internet from a decent range. I have been an HP fan for as long as I can remember and was really looking forward to own it but this product has disappointed me. When I searched on google for the wifi issue with Spectre x360 I was surprised to see so many hits. Not sure why HP hasn't decided to fix a known issue like this? Like some other people I didn't have any issues with the battery life or other functioning...yes the touchpad sometimes moves the curser but wasn't a big issue for me

This computer was such a great en vestment, I really enjoy the quality the computer gives out,way better then my sisters mac book. I noticed the younger generation only strives towards Apple computers just for looks. I really like the ash silver and gold it make the computer stand out. Everything on this computer works fast and easy, I enjoy switching to tablet mode right when I'm on the run, and the touch screen is very useful thank you HP for this Computer

Great machine and Best Buy got it first

I bought new x360' with sky lake processor a few weeks ago. Best Buy had it before the HP website and a host of others. So far I've been very happy with it. I'm coming off a mac book pro retina 15" laptop so I appreciate the great build quality. The color is more of a brown and copper than ash grey. The screen is beautiful and processes multiple tasks. I tried the dell xps, new Microsoft pro and various yoga machines all had their pluses and their quirks. You really can't go wrong with the Spectre x360!

    Premium laptop that exceeds expectations

I purchased this laptop after watching the old model for over 6 months. I've been looking for a laptop for the better part of a year now, and found nothing as slick looking as these HP x360s. The moment you see this laptop you are drawn to it, its the most beautiful looking windows laptop I've ever seen. The screen is phenomenal, it has a very clear and bright picture. Thanks to the SSD, my boot up time is about 7 seconds from the time I hit the button to seeing the desktop. The metal build of this laptop makes it feel solid, and the keys are the same way. I have not had any of the issues other reviews have stated as of yet, it runs like a dream. I use this laptop for school work, programming, browsing, movies, and even a little gaming. As long as you don't have the screen brightness up high, and you have the laptop in battery saver mode, it will last you quite a while. If you want a high end laptop with style, there is no other option than the Spectre X360.

Beautiful Ultrabook that Overheats Like Crazy

This Spectre is a beautiful laptop. Its thin, fast, and a joy to use. Unfortunately this is where the positives end. I was extremely excited to purchase this model, but am going to have to return it. I have already exchanged one for another of the same model hoping there was just something wrong with my machine, but it must be a defect with the life. First of all this laptop runs very hot. I noticed that it was much warmer than my original Yoga had been. I installed SpeedFan and monitored the temperatures over several days. With normal internet browsing and Microsoft Office use it can get into the high 60s and 70s (celcius) no problem. When the charger is plugged in, the left corner gets unbearably hot and you HAVE to put it on something for fear of burning your knees. Today, after taking some notes at a meeting, I closed the computer, put it in it's case and into my bag. When I got home and got it out, I noticed that it was very warm to the touch, and I had i hard time actually picking it up from the case. When I opened it, the screen said it underwent "thermal shutdown", meaning it overheated. How can it overheat while closed and in sleep mode? I don't play any games, but if I did I'm afraid what would happen to this machine. Additionally, the battery life is listed as up to 12 hours. I haven't been getting over 5. Usually just 4 and a half on a full charge. Pathetic. Really wanted to love it, but not with this sort of flaw.

    Audio erratically switches away

Generally, the computer is pretty good, but I am have a problem with its audio. When I use a headset (or earplugs) with audio/video conferencing applications, such as Skype and Google Hangout, the audio input/output works good for 2 or 3 minutes before it switches away to other input/output. This is very annoying, because basically one cannot use headset for Skype or Hangout. HP, do something about it!

    Motherboard problems

Received my laptop 3 days ago, HP Spectre x360 - 13-4195dx. Today, I plugged in a 1tb hard drive to transfer some files and the screen blacked out and the computer will not turn back on. Called HP tech support and I will have to send it in. I travel full time for my job, and don't know when I will be home to receive the laptop. I told the service guy that I would not accept the laptop until 3 large hard drives are plugged in simultaneously without the computer breaking. I also sent in a separate request that any down time this computer has is not to be counted in the timeframe for the return policy. I also want my expedited shipping refunded, because what was the point of paying an additional $40 to have the computer brick once received. He blatantly stated that this was NOT a common problem with these computers, despite there being many threads on HP forums regarding this exact issue. Really disappointed in HP. I had a Spectre laptop before (which was stolen out of a rental car in Spain), and while the performance of the computer was fine, there was an area of dead pixels they would not fix due to the requirement of it having to be "more than 10." This laptop was intended to be a replacement for that one, and now it's down too. For this month: Adobe CC subscription - wasted. VyperVPN subscription - wasted. Witopia subscription - wasted. Skype calling subscription - wasted. Netflix subscription - wasted. Not a happy camper here.

My wife LOVES the way her laptop sits comfortably on her lap and I'm glad I spent the extra money for the SSD. It makes it very fast and allows it to run quietly. She never complains about the case temperature so I guess HP knows how to design a cool running machine. I would buy another one if I needed another laptop.
