A good HP computer in an outstanding package

The IQ526 is a new iteration of the second generation of HP Touchsmarts. As others have noted, it is a well designed, attractive and complete package for the home. It is the second computer we've had in our family room. The first, a mini tower model, looked like a computer in the family room. The Touchsmart actually looks like it belongs there. If you have ever tied component cords together with twistees or velcro straps and then struggled to hide them behind your desk, the set-up alone of the Touchsmart should be enough to sell you. Take it out of the box, pull out the stand, plug in the power cord, turn it on. One cord from the computer to the wall (two if you connect the TV tuner) is all there is. And the 526 went through its set up faster than any Windows computer I've ever had and it turns on quicker too.
I am pleased HP was very light on the shovelware. Instead of lots of drive space taken up with stuff I don't want, I was pleased they provided seveal video tutorials on various aspects of the Touchsmart software. As this was my first experience with Touchsmart, I appreciated that.
I was delighted to find the HP Elite Keyboard came with the Touchsmart. I use this same outstanding keyboard on my other computers as well. You may or may not like the wireless mouse. It is adequate.
In addition to the major components you get with the 526, there are smaller delights: an excellent set of documentation, styrofoam free packaging, a limited load of trial software, and the keyboard light. I am also pleased to discover that HP has made regular updates and improvements to the Touchsmart software available to current owners.

Purchased this about a month ago now so wanted to give it ample time to give a good review.
Machine boots quickly, is very fast and I have experienced NO issues whatsoever.
Easy, simple set up. You plug it in, connect it either via wireless or wired and your done. Wireless keyboard and mouse are an added bonus as in a wireless environment, you have one plug (power cord) and thats it. No wires to route or any of that type of stuff.
Screen is perfectly clear and easy to read. I have not hooked mine up to a T.V. Antenna yet, but you can actually watch HD programming on this.
Very quiet, no machine running noise at all.
In a wireless environment, you could actually just plug this in anywhere and use it just like a laptop due to there being no wires other than a power cord.
Great Idea and Machine. Would highly recommend! Price is a little high, but you can put this on your Best Buy Credit Card and pay no interest for 18 months. Thats free money there as your not paying any interest!

Rite out the box it comes with all the instructions to set everything up. All you have to do is plug it up! lol Very powerful, you should be able to run 6 to 7 programs at once. Excellent graphics, essential for gamers. 650 GB HD that should be all the space you will need. HD screen, the visuals are very detail and 22' looks nice also. Works very well wit h Vista. So far no problems just make sure you get a good virus protection. You wouldnt want your nice computer to crash.

We just picked one of these babies up last week, and the unit is amazing. Since it has an 802.11N compatible wireless card, the setup is a breeze. The graphics on this unit are exceptional, and it's got photo and media programs that make editing easy and enjoyable. As well, while the screen is listed as 22 inches, it seems larger; perhaps due to the clarity. Something else that is coth cool and handy are the wireless mouse and keyboard. They can also slide under the monitor when not in use, eliminating unneccesary wires going to and fro. The toughest issue we have found so far is that there are so many features, it's going to take a while to fully master all that we have. It's the only computer I know of with an I.R. balster to tap into your digital box. All in all I'd say the All in One is a winner!

Absolutely so far worth every cent although the price was a bit staggering at first glance. Easy set-up, no ugly tangled wires, large screen, graphics are great and the tutorials are very helpful.

We bought our computer at a best buy store, and had them install all of our programs and unistall anything that was just a trial. It is sturdy and everything it says that it came with IT CAME WITH. The light is nice to have when typing in a darker room. I would recomend it to everyone. It was a great purchase and so much fun! It is also nice to have a all in one. The speakers are great too! Internet was easy to set up and so was wifi! Buy this computer!

Bought this for my wife and my teenager to work on.
This computer is so amazing. It is a dream come true. I have HDTV and the perfomance that I was looking for all in one.
I did get the optimization that removed all the ads etc, highly suggest this. HP no longer supplies the recovery disk. Could of done this myself but got the combo package Optimization and Recovery disk done by store.
Two words: Wow,Awsome!
I will try and buy another one soon for myself!

This is my first time using Vista, but I seem to be getting the hang of it. The system loads programs faster than what I was used to. That's great! However, when I went to use Yahoo! Messenger the webcam is not available. It works with MSN Messenger but that is not my primary IM. Apparently this is an issue being discussed in the HP TouchSmart Community, but I have not seen a fix. Unfortunately I will be returning it for a desktop.

I was intrigued with the touch screen technology since this was introduced last year. I kept walking past it several dozen times and finally said what the heck I need to go for this. I am glad I did. The set up was childs play. The unit is unbelievably compact. There is no tower. 4 GB of memory with a duo processor means this unit multitasks quite well. The picture is as clear as a 1080p television. The processor is super fast and 650 GB is more then enough for what anyone needs. The graphics are super as tested with flight simulator X. It is sleek and looks great. Many usb ports for whatever you need. This computer is top of the line and well worth the price. Excellent if you take pictures and the TV tuner is just a bonus. All in all a must if you can get past the price but after playing with this the price becomes very secondary. The performance is well worth it.

Great all around computer. There are a few things that occor and HP has not answered my questions. If you are working for a long period of time, the computer just ups and quits. It restarts nicely, but I have lost data. Ocassionally, when I startup the HP, I get a white sheet of paper like imige on the screen and have to do a restart. It does not happen too often, but I think HP should do something about it. Outside of those two bugs, great fast computer.

To begin with none of the problems I'm about to describe have anything whatsoever to do with Best Buy. Best Buy got delivered my machine in 3 days and it arrived in perfect condition.
That being said:
1. Several features HP lists as being included in this machine simply don't exist. (Example: This machine comes with an ambient light feature that allows you to set both the brightness and color of the light. The documentation that came with the machine tells you to use the program 'HP light' to set the color. 'HP light' is not on the machine. It doesn't exist)
2. The touchscreen-which is always active-worked very well. The HP Touchsmart Suite (the dedicated touchscreen software provided by HP) crashed 50% of the time.
3. Twenty one days after I plugged it in the machne crashed. I was never able to boot it up again. As soon as I pushed the power button the machine went directly into 'standby' mode. It never even got as far as the boot screen.
4. The people at HPs' Customer Service were courteous and as helpful as they could be. Unfortunately, HPs' corporate policies tied their hands at ev ery turn. The bottom line here being if you have a problem with this computer HP won't do anything to help you. At least not for free. It didn't matter that this computer was badly manufactured, used defective parts, and STILL managed to pass HP Quality Control. This machine should never have left the factory in the first place.
5. I have since returned this $1400 paperweight to HP and had my credit card company reverse the charges.
6. I wouldn't recommend this computer to someone I hate.

Worst Purchase Ever

Computer had problems directly from the box. Day 1, software was not installed correctly. HP Customer Care solved problem by reinstalling software. Day 2, Norton internet security installed to computer had to be removed and reinstalled by HP. Thought problems were solved.... Day 34 received error messages when attempting to access anything on the computer. A HP customer care rep advised me the hard drive was "failing" and needed to be replaced, which they would ship to me and I could install myself. Day 36 received new hard drive with no operating systems or software which HP assured me would be included due to the fact the computer was barly over a month old. Called HP, they advised they made a mistake and would ship software. Day 42... still have a $1500 computer I cannot use. HP assured me again today after calling the HP executive offices that this time they were really overnighting my software... Too bad it would be a nice computer if it worked. At this point I truly regret purchasing this computer. The only good thing that has came from this purchase is the nice sales people at Best Buy, who have tried to help me in getting this resolved.
