You get what you pay for. I bought this computer for $499 on sale because I needed something primarily for work, especially for Photoshop and video editing. However, as a gamer, I also wanted an affordable option that could handle gaming decently. The Nvidia 2050 graphics card falls short on many big games; you won’t be able to run multiplayer games like COD or Halo 5 at a steady 120fps. They are still playable, but you’ll get around 50-60fps depending on the game. I also upgraded the RAM from 8GB to 32GB since my work requires multitasking with many programs open simultaneously. If you’re looking to purchase this computer, make sure to also buy DDR5 RAM. A 16GB upgrade costs about $60, and 32GB is around $90, but it will significantly improve performance. I also bought a 2TB external hard drive because the included 500GB storage isn’t enough in the long run, which costs around $80 depending on the size. Other than that, I love the laptop. It’s not the best, but it impresses more often than it disappoints. If you’re looking for a cheap option that can still run games at a decent rate, this one can deliver with a few adjustments.

It was a great value for black Friday, the best price for a gaming laptop at $450, if you have to buy now I wouldn't go for it as there are better deals. Now for the tech part, it only comes with 8gb of DDR 5 RAM which is the minimum to run some less demanding games, you will need to upgrade it to 16, 24 or 32 Gb to be able to use it comfortably. With 8gb RAM it only works in single channel, so if the ram is rated at 4800mhz it operates at half speed 2400, so you will feel lag when gaming and working with apps, and Windows uses 4gb without any apps open, that leaves you with 4 or less free. The display is nice for this price point. Audio is good, but not amazing. Keyboard is comfortable but I personally don't like the white backlight much and it's the only option, I have the older HP Pavilion model which has beautiful green keys. The RTX 2050 is not bad but only has 4gb VRam and some new games require 6gb or more for high quality settings. Overall I would recommend it when on sale if the price is great. But right now you can find holiday deal of Victus with RTX 4060 for 699 and 16gb ram which is faster and don't need upgrade.

I've had this laptop for over a month now. I bought it for photo editing and some light gaming. Overall it does a great job of both. I could have steam, discord, and run a game of Apex with no problems. I can't speak much on the battery life since I've kept it plugged in during any real use. I did end up upgrading the existing 8gb of ram to 32gb which made a difference. Although, even before upgrading the ram, the laptop did a stellar job. If I had to give a complaint, I would say the screen could be a little brighter. But for the price and what you're getting, it's still a great buy.

While the laptop is super fast, responsive and can play any game I throw at it. I was hoping it would be a good mobile laptop as well. This thing can hardly survive 2 hours away from a plug. Making it a horrible decision if you want to use it for classes or airport travel. Also it's very heavy. More heavy than my old hp envy 700$ laptop from 2012. I thought that with 11 years the laptop would at least weigh the same. The keyboard is also kind of annoying too having to use function button to do simple tasks like change the volume. If you just want to game this is a solid choice. If you want all around laptop as well, i would look elsewhere. If I didn't get this on black Friday for a killer deal of 449 I would have returned it.

Got it on sale. and upgraded to 32GB of Vengeance RAM, which Best Buy kindly installed. Machine runs great. As a gamer, I have done some tests. Basically, if you are running older titles, the Victus is amazing. Picked up my X box controller in a heartbeat. Tomb Raider (2013) with maxed out settings benchmarks near the panels top speed at 142 fps. Shadow of the Tomb Raider, top setting and ray traced shadows, 90 fps. Looks great. Hogwarts Legacy (2023) at low settings, outdoors 57-75 fps, indoors it kind of chugs at 45-70 fps, but it is playable. I would not expect it to run Phantom Liberty or Starfield very well, but it is a solid computer with a nice screen. The only con I can mention is the unplugged battery life seems to be more like 2-3 hours, not 6, so it would work for a class, but I doubt it would work all day.

This is a geta pc for those who need more juice to do school work. I'm a computer science major and this semester need a device that could run unity well. Thats the biggest program I've used and it runs well. It does drop the battery life to like an hour or 2. Just doing other computer uses is about 6 or 7 hours. It's a great device especially if you can get it preowned. If you plan on gaming its probably a good idea to upgrade the ram. I upgraded and when playing Halo Infinite I got the lowest settings and around 30fps, plugged in. Not being plugged in was not playable. Just keep that in mind it is not an absolute power house when gaming.

So I didn't actually need a "gaming" laptop and I play almost no games on it, but as some know but maybe some don't. What makes for a good gaming PC is gonna make it good for pretty much anything else (mostly). That said I'm going to probably return THIS unit. I'm not one of those that will one star a product becuase of the error I am having as there are so many factors. That is the case I'm having now, woke up last month to a "Please insert a boot drive". That is after it "should" have still been turned on. Plugged in and running some stuff as I slept and I disable sleep/hibernate states. So luckily I ordered a portable drive adapter and was able to get my pics off it, which was all I cared about as I just happened to be (fingers crossed-didn't work) going through changing back-up drives this that and had stuff on there that was waiting to for that to finish and lost some old software. Anyway, waiting for the external cage to arrive I put Windows on another one and started at it. Got a similar issue (forget what Windows called it), Erg. Eventually diskparted the first drive back into clean and installed clean Windows. Working fine? What happened that night? IDK nor care but I'm gonna go get a exchange if possible. Laptop otherwise I do like, not 100% but I like it. Honestly I don't like the large bottom bezel. You don't see it but you also do ya know. Also, after that first incident I've noticed what appears to be warping along the bottom vents (above the keyboard same side) that is where the cooling is. Also not real happy with the HP firmware situation as I've had to re-install now a good few times and either Windows won't find the Update or HP won't or only one will and not the other like a dice roll. The HP bloat is real and I wanted to keep just because I want the actual OEM updates if possible, at least the option, but you can't just get HP assistant (the driver updater bit) alone w/out it putting telemetry on top of telematry service, all of course in your startup apps and I can't stand. BTW that's without getting the "Omen Game Center" thing which will come with the OEM Windows install should you choose that route. All in all this might sound negative but it's really not. I wouldn't even be considering return without my issue and that is almost surely just one of those things that is gonna hit a mass manufactured item. Some component outa wak, Why I'm not gonna 0 star the thing. Specially for the sale I got it for. oh btw the games I tested all worked well but I got the 2050 version so knew where it was gonna sit and what to expect/adjust. P.S, got the 8gb version and immediatlly upped it to 16. Get 16! 8 gigs IMO just shouldn't even be sold anymore much less SOLDERED ON!! Which was the problem with my first machine and why I returned it.

Got this on sale and its been great to play sims on. Way better graphics than i had on my 2015 mac book air haha. No issues with overheating either which was a constant struggle for my past laptops! Also I utlilized best buys price match program which I love! The battery sucks while playing sims (1.5 hrs if im lucky) but I use it plugged in mostly anyways.

So firsthand this is an excellent combination of the operating system and GPU performance. Price point is excellent. The first thing I did was add 16gb of DDR5. Bench tested, and I was definitely impressed by the results. Would recommend definitely worth it runs fairly cool too. I have yet to really tax this Laptop with a bunch programs running at the same time.

The computer itself is good. I did upgrade to the full. I added all possible memory to fit 32 GB and 4 TB NVMe. It's terrible that there are no two slots for an additional 2.5 SSD, and the battery goes very fast, 30 - 60 max on most loads, with no Thunderbolt port for any external devices. Also, the video RAM could be more significant, however. It is a little heavy, however.

This laptop is outstanding. I originally bought this do schoolwork on with some light gaming. I've always assumed that laptops really just aren't built for gaming and the results will always be subpar. That has not been my experience with this laptop. With the base specs, I was able to run beamng drive with almost no issues at all. If you don't know about this game, it's EXTREMELY resource heavy. I finally have a laptop that can do everything I need it to do, and what I want it to do. I did end up purchasing 2 16gb sticks of ram as well as a 2tb nvme to give myself some wiggle room and it runs even smoother than before. I seriously cannot recommend this laptop enough. Try to wait for it to go on sale. I picked mine up for about $500 a month and a half ago. One con is that the battery life is pretty crummy. However, I almost expect that with any windows laptop. Especially one that is as powerful as this one. It can definitely last a few hours doing light activities such as homework or browsing. But if you want to do any gaming, it's probably best to plug it in.

Great laptop for the money. Decent Ryzen processor that had a better benchmark than any of the run of the mill i5’s or other Ryzen processors that were in non “gaming” laptops that were in the same price range. 8GB RAM is good and there is a 2nd slot to add RAM. Pair that with a 512GB SSD and dedicated RAM for graphics and you’ve got a decent laptop that does not have to be used for gaming. Truth of the matter is no serious gamer would use a laptop in this class to play games. That goes for this one or any other with similar specs in this price range. I feel like a laptop like this though at the right price is always the best bang for buck value.

The HP Victus 15.6" gaming laptop packs a punch for its price point, offering decent performance and a sleek design. However, its battery life leaves room for improvement. Here's what I liked: Solid Performance: The AMD Ryzen 5 7535HS processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050 graphics card deliver smooth gameplay for most modern titles at medium to high settings. Fast and Refreshing Display: The 15.6-inch Full HD display boasts a 144Hz refresh rate, making for buttery-smooth visuals in fast-paced games. Sleek and Stylish Design: The Victus has a modern and minimalist aesthetic that doesn't scream "gamer," making it suitable for both work and leisure. Decent Storage: The 512GB SSD provides ample storage for games and files, and offers fast loading times. Here's what could be improved: Short Battery Life: The battery life is a major drawback, averaging around 4-5 hours on a single charge. This limits its portability and requires frequent plugging in. Limited RAM: While 8GB of RAM is sufficient for most everyday tasks, some users might find it limiting for demanding games or multitasking. Overall: The HP Victus 15.6" is a solid gaming laptop for casual and budget-conscious gamers. Its performance, display, and design are commendable, but the short battery life is a significant letdown. If you're looking for a portable gaming machine, be prepared to carry your charger. For those who prioritize performance and value over portability, the Victus is a worthwhile choice.

good overall performance. impressive build quality. smooth gameplay at 1080p. 8gb memory is too low. this memory is shared with the nvidia 2050 video card and creates a bottleneck when playing games at high settings. and when you start opening multiple tabs in your favorite browser, you will notice a degradation. upgraded from 8gb to 16gb, huge peformance increase in bootup and launching apps. nice 144hz refresh rate. the paltry 512 GB storage was upgraded to 2TB. got this laptop during black friday 2023 for less than $500 and with the upgrades sourced from the company named after the largest river in africa - total cost was 600. this was a gift to my daughter. her previous laptop was playing world of warcraft in 10 fps at ultra settings (dell xps L521x). the new laptop is hitting 48 fps at ultra settings.

The performance is great and fast. The display is beautiful and sharp. The battery life is not so super (Well may be it’s a common thing to gaming laptops) The power button shouldn’t have been placed where it is. Imagine a power button directly above the “backspace” button and beside “delete” button. ( I can’t understand what sort of user experience team advised such design). Be careful not rest your palm hard on the laptop while in use. Because there’s a rubber line at the base of the laptop serving as a raiser (not sure) which presses back against the left click button of mouse pad causing unintended response. Weight is excellent.

Bought this for playing World of Warcraft, and it’s been amazing. It’s fast, it’s easy to do anything, and it was worth the price! My only criticism might be that if I’m playing unplugged, it gets a little slow and only lasts about an hour. But that’s not really a big deal for me.

This computer runs so well for a 8gb computer. It’s worth the price and it just looks cool too. The graphics are insane, and I plan on upgrading it a bit to make it run a bit better. I play valo, genshin, and so many other games on it with no problem.
