I have had this phone for a few months now and twice while in my pocket it has rest to factory defaults. Now if that wasn't bad enough... when it did so it earsed the memory card completely and I lost all my pictures and videos.
The only explaination I have received on the net is that if you have a screen lock and you enter it 10 times wrong then it wipes the phone...
I can't see how this is possible in my pocket.... VERY aggrivating.
Despite this I would recommend the phone ... perhaps with a phone case?

This is a great phone in Continental USA. No problem in switching out SIM card for local call outside of USA. Great music through outside speaker. Phone heat up while charging at 100 degree F.

Much better than my last phone. Only thing this lacks is being water resistant or waterproof. Too bad Verizon puts on so much bloatware.

This phone is too big, too heavy, and too overhyped. The Bluetooth is poor. The screen is not responsive, lazy, and hard to use. Worst of all, it is VERY easy to pocket dial someone accidentally. I sold it in 2 weeks and bought a new iPhone 5S at full price. HTC = Hard To Carry.

Stunning Design, Practical Size, Top End Specs

An amazing phone worthy of your palm. Stunning design, Solid aluminum build quality, Superb built in speakers that is better than any other, Gorgeous display from any angle and highest possible specs on the internal hardware for the moment. If you are intending to buy a smartphone that is purely going to be used as a phone, this is it. However, there is one flaw. The camera, although takes great pictures, is a little too less in megapixels. 4 Ultra-pixels as they call it is good enough to take pictures for your daily online use, however if you want to zoom in and crop on those pictures, you will quickly realize that this camera isn't up to the task. That being said, it is still an amazing phone to be used as a smartphone. Every time you pickup the device it rewards you with a great feeling that you have paid for a product that is worthy of your cash. As for the software side of the device, HTC Sense, it is fluid and smooth. It can be due to the newest hardware within. However the same cannot be said for the Samsung Galaxy s5, which felt sluggish and underpowered at all times. If you are in the market for a high end device this season, be sure to give it a shot. Worthy hardware that can compete with iPhone's aesthetics, accompanied with the practical and fluid software makes this my favorite gadget at the moment.

Best Android Phone Ever Made

I've owned several Android phones over the years and have played with demo units at retail stores. The HTC One is the best one I've ever had! The premium look and feel along with the stereo speakers make this the device to get. While 5" might be a little too much to wrap your fingers around, convenient swipe gestures make navigation a breeze. HTC's very light Android overlay is not intrusive at all but adds to Androids functionality. If you're an Android user this phone is for you.
PRO's:
*Stereo speakers. This feature puts absolutely ever phone on the market to shame with no exception.
*Excellent build Quality. The aluminum casing and precision crafted edges make this feel like a lot of attention went into it.
*Excellent video playback. I don't know if it's the processor, the camera or a combination of both, but ply playback it the best I've ever seen on a phone.
CON's:
*Wireless charging. I was disappointed this wasn't equipped with Qi charging, but I can easily look past it.
*Thin edges make the phone feel "slippery" and has dropped out of my hands several times. One of these days I suspect the screen will break unless I put it in a case. If I do that, it eliminates one of the best features as listed above--the premium look.
*Power button on the top. Again not a deal-breaker, but this should be on the side, not top.
Of my usage, the good points far outweigh the bad. This is why I'm still leaving it as a 5-Star review. Great job, HTC!

I traded in my iPhone 5 for this phone earlier this week and it has been a Godsend. Once you buy into all that Apple hype, your brain begins to melt a little I think. HTC did a wonderful job with this phone. I swear it has better call quality than my iPhone, the screen is so much better to watch YouTube, videos and Netflix on, and almost every aspect of the phone is customizable. Believe it or not, my thumbs were beginning to get cramped and painful from texting on the iPhone and now I have so much more wiggle room. If you're considering this or the Galaxy S5, get this! Galaxy phones never change! They just keep getting more and more cramped with useless features. The whole HTC Sense 6 experience is like having a clean slate. It's absolutely fantastic!

Best phone currently on the market

One of the best phone I have ever laid my hands on. I compared this one to the Samsung Galaxy S5 and found that this phone has a much quicker response time over the Samsung, though minor it may be in the Samsung the HTC still felt lightning fast in comparison. Some have complained that the camera is not as good as other phone out there on the market, but for my purposes it works perfect. My thoughts are if you really care about your picture quality you shouldn't be using your phone in the first place. Phone feels solid and well built I expect it would be able to take some accidental abuse. The screen is crystal clear and sharp but then again I am comeing from an older phone. Battery life is about what I expected being that a charge will last me a full day with moderate to heavy use, I'm sure the battery software update down the line will significantly improve on this. One thing I really liked was there was very little bloat software installed on the phone. Overall I'm sold on HTC very satisfied.

If you're debating between this and the Galaxy S 5, just go with what all the reviews say, because they are absolutely correct. The One M8 is the best Android phone, and therefor the best phone period, that you can buy today. Sound quality is absolutely amazing. Responsiveness is top-notch. Battery life is fantastic. Call quality/coverage - it's Verizon, can't complain. HTC Sense is pretty awesome now, I am a huge fan of "stock" but I really can't complain about HTC's UI anymore. Oh, and lets not forget that this phone has an infrared sensor on top, so you can use it as a universal remote too.

The HTC One M8 is one of the most beautiful phones on the market. Very slim and streamlined. The brushed metal back is beautiful and has a much higher quality look than the S5 and other phones I've come across. The phone also performs well. The battery is not removable. I recommended it to my brother and he purchased one when activating a new line. He loves his as well

I am a avid iPhone user. I have had apple, Samsung, and HTC. I was kind of unsure about leaving apple but I have to say I'm glad I did. I will never go back to Samsung due to the plastic no quality build of the phones. The HTC One M8 is absolutely amazing all I can say is quality in every aspect. Battery, screen, and screen transitions are quality. If you are uneasy about leaving other makers do not be if you are going with this phone. You will not be disappointed.
