The Hunting Party is the sixth studio album by American rock band Linkin Park. The album, self-produced by band members Mike Shinoda and Brad Delson, was released by Warner Bros. Records on June 13, 2014. It is the first album since Meteora not to be produced with Rick Rubin, after producing the band's previous three studio albums. The title, The Hunting Party, is a contextual metaphor: Linkin Park is the party that is hunting to bring back the energy and soul of rock.
The Hunting Party is a departure from the band's recent electronic rock sound of their previous two studio albums. The album, described by Mike Shinoda as simply "a rock record", serves a statement by the band against contemporary mainstream and active rock bands, accused by Shinoda as "trying to be other bands and playing it safe". Packaged by an artwork by Brandon Parvini based off an original drawing by James Jean, the album took under a year to record and produce, with material being improvisationally written in the studio by the band. The album also features guest appearances from Page Hamilton of Helmet, Rakim, Daron Malakian of System of a Down, and Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine.
The album was promoted by the band and Warner Bros, with multiple promotional teasers and interviews produced and published in the lead-up to the album's release and listening parties of the album being held worldwide on multiple dates. The band are also set to embark on the Carnivores Tour, a double-headline tour with Thirty Seconds to Mars, in support of the album. So far, five tracks from the album have been released as singles in promotion of The Hunting Party; "Guilty All the Same" in March 2014, "Until It's Gone" in May 2014 and a triple-release of "Wastelands", "Rebellion" and "Final Masquerade" in June 2014.

Linkin Park; popular nu-metal, rock band in the 90's have release this new album that pretty much sums up all of their musical styling! They have turned back to their roots with the hard rock metal and Chester's legendary scream-o voice to pump back new blood into their album! With even a few awesome featured artist on their tracks!
This is by far the best album they have produced and I'm speaking as a die-hard Linkin Park fan from Hybrid Theory all the way to Living Things!
If you were a fan of Hybrid Theory then you will LOVE their new album!
Cheers

A little different from what they normally play, but if you listened to their past recent albums it wouldn't have come to a surprise for them to come out with an album like this. Some songs have their roots from Meteora/Hybrid Thoery and some from their most recent albums (Living Things/A Thousand Suns). So if you're into a little mix of both, then buy the album! Trust me, you'll get use to it!

It reminds me alot like their first album Hybrid Theory, so if you liked that album then you'll love The Hunting Party. Loved every song. Can't go wrong when listening to Linkin Park, one of the best rock bands in this generation.

I always liked the mixture of rock and rap on the previous Linkin' Park CD's. However, I don't beleive that i have heard as mush guitar playing as I did on this CD! This is a great CD to get your blood flowing!

Another strong effort from Linkin Park. Lots of aggressive songs. Would have preferred a little less of the screaming/singing - it's good in the right amounts, but a little much for me on some of the songs. This will be playing on my iPod all summer!

The future of selling CD's instead of just downloading it from iTunes is all in the packaging, and this one delivers. Pairing this new release with a classic live performance really provides a great value for the true fan.

Back to the roots of Linkin Park

Linkin Park's 6th studio album is a great addition to any hard rock/heavy metal fan's collection. Going back to their roots, they tone down their "electronica" sound and pump up the rock. There are a couple tracks where Mike Shinoda does his traditional raps, but they are often accompanied by Chester or a guest vocalist (such as Page Hamilton of Helmet.
The album features not only guest vocalists but also Rakim, of Eric B. & Rakim, Daron Malakian of System of a Down, and Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine. These legendary artists add to the variety of sounds found on the album, each adding their own unique flavor. The guitar riffs in the track "Rebellion," which Malakian helped to write, is reminiscent of System of a Down tracks, like "Toxicity" or "Vicinity of Obscenity." Even without knowing which track he was featured in, I could tell right away, upon hearing the intro.
The album isn't perfect. Like their other albums, it suffers from too much variety; but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. It helps to showcase their versatility and their ability to explore the depth found in rock, hard rock, rap, and heavy metal. Certain fans would prefer to hear a certain era of Linkin Park, but this album combines many of their sounds.
Fans of the more electronica style would still enjoy the album, as it has songs that are reminiscent of those in Meteora, such as "Until It's Gone" or "Final Masquerade," two of my favorites. Finishing with "A Line in the Sand," the album ends as it started, with an explosive metal track, but finalizing with a soft harmonic sound like that in "The Messenger" or "Hands Held High."
The album clocks in at 45 minutes and 10 seconds. Over 12 tracks, that is an average of 3 minutes and 46 seconds, which isn't bad at all. Most of their albums were notoriously short, so this album may even be longer than past ones. Highly recommended for any hard rock/metal fan, and a must own for Linkin Park fans.

Rocking Harder!

Linkin Park is back! This band has lost a lot of fans over the years. The claim that they are not as good as the first two albums seems to be bogus as their next three albums all were released at #1 on the sales charts. This album made it's debut at #3 next to Lana Del Rey and Sam Smith (both artist with vastly different styles of music). While the rest of the rap/rock bands have come on gone, LP has continued to flourish. They adapted into a more mature form of music. The style could be considered modern. I t would be uncomfortable for a band in their late 30's to continue writing songs about their parents and school as was the case with their first two albums. I find the latest material refreshing and enjoyable. LP comes out rocking hard in this album. Many songs start with music where the first words aren't spoken until a minute into the song. There are guest vocalist as well as musicians. (Rakim, Page Hamilton, Daron Malakian, and Tom Morello). Rakim singing the rap verse during the song Guilty All the Same is new move where as this would be reserved for band member Mike Shinoda. A song that has not been given much recognition or single release (as of 9/14/2014) is Mark the Graves. To me is one of the most amazing songs LP has written on any album. It stars with a beautiful guitar tempo and lead singer Chester Bennington both sings and screams but in a very melodious way. Linkin Park is touring at this time in promotion of this album and the reviews are raving of these songs performed live. This cd/dvd set is a Best Buy exclusive which contains a live video performance of Linkin Park in Mexico. The live dvd does not contain songs from The Hunting Party but plays as a greatest hits from all their past material. An amazing album for fans an non-fans alike!

My son is a big Linkin Park fan and loves the new CD. There is a bit more profanity and use of the "F" word than I'd like but it's tolerable.

Homage to their older hard rock for about half of the songs. Still some good songs close to their 2 previous studio albums
