Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the Cloud Orbit S Wired Stereo Gaming Headset's sound quality and 3D audio features, with many praising the immersive audio experience. Comfort is also frequently cited as a positive, although some users note the headset's weight and potentially tight fit. While the high price point is a common concern, the overall audio performance seems to outweigh this drawback for many buyers.

I've only had these for a day but have been very impressed with them overall. The USB simulated 7.1 default sound quality is excellent. So much more clear than my ASTRO A40s and A50s that it almost seemed too loud and I was able to turn the volume down a bit and still hear it very clearly. Score 8/10 Routed through my Sound Blaster ZxR sound card (3.5mm) next to give it a run. Had to set the headphone software equalizer to flat (in the HyperX software b/c it was battling my ZxR equalizer software and things just got weird), but after that, it was fantastic as well! Sound output to the headphones was a tiny bit lower in this config, easily solved by turning up the volume, and was able to make even more adjustments to the equalizer and mic for personal preference. Score 9/10 Built quality doesn't feel cheap or look cheap (although if you look really closely they don't look super high-quality either). They remind me of a slightly heavier and bulkier "gamer" looking version of my wireless Sony WH-1000 XM3 (XM4's are out now) headphones, sans bluetooth, touch controls and noise-cancelling, but with more controls on the headset and a full boom mic. The Sony's are super-super comfortable, sound phenomenal, and the noise cancelling is nice. Although they were not built for gaming, I've used them (bluetooth) and have not been disappointed, but I wanted a wired option (3.5mm) to take full advantage of my additional hardware, hence Hyper X Cloud Orbit S - and I like having the option of either 3.5mm or usb as a bonus. The Cloud's are snug on the head (and I don't have a large head), they may stretch, but it definitely took me a few hours to get used to the snug fit and not feel uncomfortable from the pressure - otherwise, they feel good. Score 7/10 Price: HyperX Cloud S: $329 USD Score 7/10 Sony WH-1000 XM3: $329 USD Score 7/10 Astro A40 w/ mix amp: $250 USD Score 5/10 Astro A40 w/out mix amp: $150 USD Score 6/10 Astro A50: $299 USD Score 2/10 I do not regret the $329, but I do believe these headsets would be priced more fairly at around $275 - $300 max, since they do not include bluetooth nor a super long battery life (although the usb cable is really nice, braided, and long for convenience which is a plus). *NOTE: In case you are thinking about the Sony's, they cannot be used while being charged (although they charge super fast and have good life). *NOTE: Whatever you do, don't buy ASTRO's. Once upon a time, yes, now... NO. They want to premium you to death for everything even though they are no longer top dog.

Sound was popping in both speakers... Really think this headset needs some more work before primetime.

I bought this headset as a replacement for my old Astro A50's with a dying battery. I wasn't too interested in picking up another wireless headset, so I began doing my research and stumbled upon this headset and I have to say I am very impressed. The sound quality is absolutely amazing and offers quite a bit of bass if that's what you're into. The build quality is fantastic and this headset feels like a quality item and has a bit of heft to it, but not enough to cause discomfort. The mic sounds excellent and I feel that I no longer need a standalone mic for gaming. This headset also offers a "3D sound" system that simulates a 7.1 surround system with head tracking, which means that sounds in front of you will play to the left of you if you turn your head to the right. I turn this feature off when listening to music, but for games and movies, this is a neat feature. The only complaint I have is using the controls on the headset. Switching EQ's or between 7.1, 2 channel and hi-res is a somewhat difficult to do. I'm pretty sure these features can be changed in the software for these headphones, but I haven't been able to find it yet.

The 2 stars is for sound quality (when it actually works). Fantastic sound. Best sounding headset I've ever owned. I'm taking off stars because the headset doesn't always work. First headset I had one of the ears stopped working about 16 or 17 days of owning. The headset is well taken care of, and hung up every night. It seemed like a loose wire inside, because if I pressed on the ear it would work, but then stop working again. The second headset I received works sometimes, other times a lot of sounds come out as static. Throw a grenade? Static. Bass in a song? Static/clipping noise. I read online that sometimes the mic has issues for people.. and the mic is noisy to other people, however I've had nobody complain about the mic. The way the mic fits into it's hole kind of sucks. It's got a flat edge on one side, which is supposed to prevent it from going in wrong, but you can still put it in wrong without any force, and then it'll be stuck in there and hard to pull out. I did it by accident not looking. I don't like the position of the 3D button. It's right next to the mic hole. So when plugging the mic in, sometimes you hit the 3D button by mistake. It causes the headset to "center" itself. I'm not sure if that's what does it, but sometimes my audio in game is reversed.. items on my right side sound like they're on the left. I assume that's what it is. If the headset worked all the time, I could overlook the little things and rate it 4 stars.
