    Great fridge but poor quality

I bought this fridge primarily for one purpose, to keep my beers cold. It was essentially a secondary beer fridge and not much else. It didn't get used a lot and was left in my basement only to be called upon on weekends when I needed a few drinks. It was perfect. The size was great. It had four shelves and held all my can, bottles and a few other drinks. It even had room for an occasional 1/2 gallon of milk or beverages. My wife and I loved it. We got it on sale for $199 so the price could not be beat. Unfortunately after a about 15 months of use the compressor failed and the refrigerator compartment did not cool any more. The freezer portion still worked but not the fridge. So all my beers started loosing their temp. I called the igloo support line to help me figure out what the issue was but they told me that the compressor was bad and the fridge was out of warranty so they could do nothing for me. I called a few appliance repair shops to get it fixed but they all told me it was not worth it. After only 15 months of use I ended up having to throw it out and get a new one. What a shame. I really was the perfect beer fridge. If you are going to buy this fridge make sure you get the extended warranty. Read the other reviews, several other people had the same issue as me. Otherwise get a better model fridge.

    Perfect Size and Price

This freezer/ fridge combo has a clean exterior look and an efficient interior layout. It is perfect for a small apartment or condo. We use it as a secondary beverage fridge in our garage, and it never gets frost buildup inside. The freezer is totally isolated from the fridge, and the fridge has four adjustable glass shelves. There is no other deal this good on a 10 cubic foot model for 199 plus tax and 69 shipping. Best I found elsewhere was double the price or more.

Should have bought a real refrigerator

Have the Igloo 10 cu ft. Looked good and fit the space nicely, also was fairly quiet. Has to be constantly defrosted in the freezer section, otherwise ice gets too thick to close the door. Condensation runs down the back wall of refrigerator and sometimes freezes to the wall. Freezes lettuce and other foods if too close to walls. Started having trouble with thermostat after a year. If was turned to 3 or below, would completely shut off and not cool. Had to keep at 4, any higher would freeze everything. After 2 years, completely quit cooling. Bought and replaced $15 thermostat. Now it cools but won't shut off. Biggest waste of $320 ever. Now have to junk it. They have a one year warranty because they know that' how long it will last. Tried to order part online through Canadian service company, but they never sent it. Ended up mailing a money order to Canada and waiting 2 weeks to get part. This is the only way you can get any parts from this company. Choose something else., not this one.

    Defrost or Short Lifespan

    Posted .

This was a great fridge for the price - but you must must defrost it if ice builds up in the freezer. I never did get around to defrosting it and my unit only lasted 18 months. The cooling mechanism just stopped working and it defrosted itself. Considering I never maintained the frost, 18 months with this product at this price point made it a reasonable purchase. Be warned, the owners manual is very minimal and not very helpful.

I normally take poor reviews with a grain of salt. This item was not a 5 star rated item and for the cost really did not expect it to be a Sub Zero fridge. It is an Igloo and I at least expected it to work as well as an Igloo cooler........IT DID NOT!!!! Well Both DID NOT!!!. After a 2 hour round trip drive to pick up fridge, I set it up, stocked it with already cold items and fridge would not drop below 45 degrees on any setting, even cranked to it's coldest setting. Hey look every now and then you can get a bad one. Another 2 hour round trip drive to exchange and the new one wont go below 50 degrees, and is bound to freeze up because there is no adjustment on the doors and the seal WILL NOT seal closed. This one goes back and I am going else where to buy. BUYER BEWARE !! SET IT UP AND CHECK EVERYTHING IN THE STORE BEFORE YOU LEAVE WITH IT!

    Absolute Garbage

We picked this up for our garage when we bought all new kitchen appliances from Best Buy. It was on sale for a fairly cheap price and we know why now. The light cover came with a pieces that was already broken. After a few weeks operating the refridgerator at 3 (manual says summer, when we purchased it) we noticed ice on the back wall of the fridge. I turned it down to about 2.5 and I scrapped out the ice. Not long after a can of Coke exploded because it was, again, frozen. I cleaned up this mess and turned it down to 2. Time went by and it was getting colder and we continued to see ice on the back wall and cans freezing off and on. Winter came and while it has been mild until this week, we had several more cans freeze with it on 1. I turned it down to .5 this week but there's nothing more I can do, if it goes to 0, the compressor turns off. This thing is worthless and I'll be investigating what I can do with Best Buy shortly. The issues we had just getting our main fridge delivered from the terrible company they use in Ohio was bad enough, now we're still dealing with issues from our $5,000+ purchase.

Please beware this is NOT a frost free refrigerator. Ices up quickly and will need to be defrosted on a regular basis. No collection or drip tray so your floor floods. Don't buy it.

This fridge lasted me just over 1 year, just long enough to make the warranty expire. The freezer still works but that's it. I bought this for the fridge, not the small useless freezer.

    Don't Buy Igloo

After 17 months my Igloo refrigerator just stopped working. There is power at the outlet but, no power coming out of the refrigerator, not even the light comes on. Curtiss International that owns Igloo can only say, did you purchase an extended warranty? or You can ship the unit to their location but the costs are the consumers responsibility. Go to Amazon and you will see nothing good about Igloo products. Consumers Beware!

Do not buy this. The refrigerator broke after the warranty was up. Did not keep things all that cold. The back frosts up. You get what you pay for. I expected more from the Igloo.

    Avoid this product

We bought two of these refrigerators. One failed completely after 16 days. Best Buy at first refused to honor the warranty and replace the product since we were beyond 15 days, referring us, instead, to Igloo. They relented and will be delivering a new refrigerator. There is a one year warranty of merchantability, so insist on a replacement. Best Buy is the retailer, so they are obligated to replace a defective product. This is the first (and last) time I have ever bought something at Best Buy. Good Bye Best Buy.

compressor needs replaced after 2 years

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I thought the price was too good to be true. I should have stuck with my gut instinct. Right from the beginning, ice built up at the back of the refrigerator (not freezer) and needed everything removed, unplugged, and defrosted every couple of months. Now, after only 2 years, the compressor has gone out and needs replacing. If you get this refrigerator, make sure you get a long extended warranty and call if ice builds up inside the refrigerator and be prepared to have trouble from the start.

    Great Fridge for a garage

I bought this for an extra refridgeator for the garage. It works great except it freezes up and ice has to be removed from the back. It keeps everything cold. For the price its ok, but I wouldn't buy another one.

    Two replacement about a year

The first quit functioning about 6 month after purchase. The replacement is building the ice at the main area of the fridge. Good thing I purchased the warranty from BestBuy, I am asking for a replacement again, but different product. Rather pay a little more than getting the third replacement.

I bought this as a drink holder but after two years it has broken down. I had purchased the extend plan from Best Buy with the geek squad called them today and found out there is nothing they can because they are not allowed to work on this product. I would have to pay an extra 160 for a new one. If you purchase no point to get the geek squad plan as they can help.

None of the 4 units that bestbuy replaced in the past 2 weeks since i first purchased last month, has worked. 1stt unit was severely dented and would not even stand up straight, missing a built-in metal leg in the back left. 2nd unit iced up inside both fridge and freezer compartment within hours of plugging in and leaked water onto floor. 3rd unit was full of 'rain' within hours of plugging in and continued raining inside fridge and by next day was flooding kitchen floor with pool of water. 4th unit does not cool at all, and bestbuy referred me to curtis international for warranty instead of bothering to send GeekSquad out yet again. the end?
