I needed something rugged to protect from scratches and dings. I have had cases before, and this one seemed to be a solid choice. Installation was easy and everything snapped right into place. My problem started when I noticed that the lid of my laptop would not fully close. Both the left and right upper corners of the display were not flush when closing the laptop. It was not significant but there is no doubt that the display is being slightly bent. In the long run I can see this damaging the display and maybe even the hinges resulting in a costly repair. I'm returning the case due to this issue which is a shame because everything else about the case was great. This is not an isolated issue as there are many others noticing this same problem on their laptops.

I have really put this case though it and I think it it wroth the price. I do have cracks on 3 different corners but for the price I kinda expect it. I would buy again.

Pricey, but still money well spent

I understand the viewpoints against slapping any case on a laptop of this class, especially considering Apple's design and the fact that this machine, in true Apple fashion is very well built. However, I still like the little extra reassurance I have from a case being there in the event something significant occurs. I have had my MacBook Pro 14" for nearly a year and a half now, and I have had two other cases in that time. Previously, I was rocking the Supcase UB series, which was marketed as a more rugged option with rubber and silicone edge pieces. However, it ended up being a little too much and made this already thicker (compared to the last gen MacBook pro line) and more dense than it was without the case. Another issue was the case's use of clear acrylic which scratched easily and put smudges and fingerprints on full display. The Incase Hardshell Dot Case solves both of these and despite being much thinner and less "rugged" looking, is still more than plenty protective. The fit is excellent, it was a breeze to install, and it's both the best looking and feeling case I have used on any MacBook, and I personally have owned 4 different models. While the $55 price tag honestly seems a little steep, especially compared to the Supcase which is priced at a little under $30, I do believe I have gotten the value out of this case, and I would honestly recommend to others that it is worth paying the extra here.

As a very experienced and near 20-year Macbook owner....I have owned many cases to protect my investment. Incase is one of the best quality case shells, compared to the many different ones online.
