The quality of the movie was good overall. The time from the original to the sequel was too long. Few people care about aliens anymore and are more concerned about zombies. The story line was good but weakly played. The main characters did not get developed and if you didn't see the original, you would not understand why the pilot of the jet was crying when his mother fell through the roof of the hospital or why an elderly male who probably should not be out on the high seas in a boat by himself is berating his son about not having kids or a wife. The other new characters were also a little weak. The returning nut-job scientist was alright, but weak and not over the top, which is necessary for a nut-job scientist. Normally, you either hate the aliens for destroying the US capital or you hate the earthlings for firing the first shot. I vote for choice three, grab a bag of pop corn. I've seen worse. Not a bad movie but nothing to write home to Alpha Centauri about. The one really good thing they did was the computer generated imaging. I actually believed the old man in the boat was surfing the pipeline with his aging 35 foot tub of a vessel.

I enjoyed this 2nd installment. Some of the same actors in this 2nd part make this movie enjoyable.

One of the classic movies you must have on your collection, it really entertains the audience.

No one else seems to like this movie. If you like to enjoy wild action movies, try it out.

If you're interested in the aliens attacking earth then you will enjoy this movie.

Not quite as fun as the original due to a lack of Will Smith, but it was still a good watch

I was hoping that the sequel would be a continuation of how the first movie left me feeling about the possibility of an alien attack on our planet. Though many of the same actors returned in their same roles, I felt their performances lacking. Though still somewhat entertaining, it was a disappointment compared to the first.

I was a HUGE fan of the original Independence Day movie when it came out in 1996 and when I saw that movie was getting a sequel after all these years I was ecstatic! What was even more awesome is that most of the original cast was returning! So we got to see Judd Hirsch, Vivica Fox, Bill Pullman, Jeff Goldblum, and Brent Spiner again in their same roles. That was awesome! And Brent Spiner? You wouldn't think a day had passed the way he easily slid back into the roll of Dr. Okun! I am also glad they stuck with continuity where the actual aliens themselves were inside bio-mechanical suits and when they opened, you could see what the real aliens looked like. It was also good to see that we had used the alien technology to improve our own defenses and upgrade our military. Overall, I loved it! I loved the action, I loved the special effects, and I loved the aliens! Any fan of the original movie will really get a kick out of this! Check it out! The Queen Alien in the end of film was so neat to look at. The 3D is far superior to the 2 D version .

If you love over the top sci-fi action and a great collection of actors...ID4R is for you!

It's nice to have another movie in the franchise but this could have been better!

This is one of the few "True 4K" UHD available due to the fact that it was shot AND mastered in 4K. The action scenes along with the fantastic special effects demonstrate the benefits of 4K video. The 4k video is paired with an excellent dolby atoms soundtrack as well if you are lucky enough to have such a set-up. As I mentioned earlier, most of the UHD blu-ray's currently available don't represent "True 4K" for a number of different reasons with the most common being: 1). They weren't shot with a 4k digital format camera or film worthy of a quality 4k transfer 2.) Were shot in 4K, but mastered in a lower video resolution (usually 2k). Regarding the Movie itself, I thought it was mediocre at best. It isn't anything like the original (and obviously doesn't have the nostalgia many of us associate with the original). I felt the story line jumped around a bit to much and the characters were never fully explored. In summary, just an action-filled popcorn flick that was entertaining enough, but not worthy of a 2nd watch.
