Good shredder

I bought this shredder to replace an old Fellows 5 page shredder that after 5 years finally quit. I like the wheels for ease of getting out of the tight spot I keep it in. It does what it is supposed to do but if you try to do more than 9 sheets at once it will slow down. It will still shred them just alot slower. It did credit cards with ease and although it is loud it will do almost anything you put in there. I have not had a paper jamb yet so I do not know what the other poster is referring to about the cover on top. It is a shredder and as long as it does what it is advertised to do then it is just fine. I have had some problems with reinstalling the basket after emptying it. The red light would stay on. It is just a matter of taking your time and it is ok.

Beware - Light Duty Only

This unit works well for light duty shredding, but be aware of it's limitations. It can shred credit card offers if they aren't too thick. In my case I was doing just this when I inserted an envelope that was too thick. The machine stalled, but it has a reverse feature to back out the jammed paper. Problem is, it couldn't back out the paper because there is a cover over the shredder blades. The cover is suppose to protect against "accidents" such as your tie getting caught, or a small finger playing in the vicinity where it shouldn't be. But the cover blocked the paper in my case from backing out. You can't remove the cover, so this caused a semi-permanent jam. I got it free after about 10 minutes. My old shredder (with no such cover) was easy to un-jam since you could pull out the stuck paper along with the help of the reversing motor. For this reason this unit is unacceptable in my opinion, except for the light duty work.

Good and Bad

I bought this shredder because it seemed to fit all my needs. I could not be happier with the way it shreds paper and credit cards, but that's what a shredder is supposed to do. I like that you can feed papers into the shredder from both sides of the cutters. There are two major problems with it. First, when there is a paper jam, you can hit reverse, but you can't pull the paper out from the top. This can be crippling. The thing that I find absolutely impossible about it, though, is that while you can pull the basket out (and it will shred even with a bag in the basket which should be a big help, but isn't), the shredded paper ends up all over the floor and the inside of the bin, but outside the basket and bag. I have not yet been able to empty this shredder without having more shredded paper on the floor than in the bag and, because the shredder is attached to the bin, you can't just remove it to empty the bin or the basket.

MOre than good enough for the job

I was impressed with the overall quality of the machine. It is heavy duty enough for almost any job yet light weight enough to move around to different areas to use. I almost didn't buy it because of reviews saying it was messy to empty, but found that not to really be a problem if you have adequate room to maneuver. Overall....impressed !

Very nice unit.
I use it completely for home use, and the thickest items I've tested are credit offers (envelope and all)
When I took it out of the box and plugged it in, I instantly scanned me room for anything and everything I wanted to shred.
First things first, I found my old Windows ME installation CD. Instantly threw that in the CD slot. The unit whined and groaned like any other shredder (not in a bad way) and split my CD into 6 pieces. The CD shredder seems to cut the CD into slips, as opposed to a cross or confetti cut. But for CDs that is fine by me.
The next item on the agenda was a 'PRE-APPROVED' credit card offer. Right into the paper slot, envelope (unopened) and all. It took the envelope and it's fake little credit card just fine. The more sheets that go in, it struggles a bit and slows down, but doesn't stop. I couldn't even pull against the paper, it has that good of a grip.
On the top, are status LEDs. If it's green, everything is ok. If that green LED turns red, the waste basket isn't installed properly.
The switch is your typical ON, OFF, REVERSE switch.
I would recommend this unit to anyone for home use or small business use. May not be great for 'industrial' use, but for home use it is great.

It shreds paper/CD's/Credit cards all very well. That being said about a month after purchase the auto switch stopped working so if it is in the auto position it just stays on. Also the bin fills up very fast, there is no window to view it's fullness level, and it makes a huge mess when taking the bin out to empty it!

It is so loud, you can hear from other block, feeding paper is under angle and does not look like its can take 11 pages.... the only good think about it, easy to clean....
