Great tablet for what it is
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally sought the 11.6" tablet and picked this one up as it was available and on sale. Great purchase! It's the perfect size and weight. I don't see it as a laptop replacement as it lacks the storage and performance to do so, but for what it is and what I need to be it's fantastic. If you're looking to run relatively lightweight native Windows applications in a tablet form factor, this is it! Great battery life. And in a 10.1" tablet, the resolution is fine. Very comfortable to use, and Windows 10 keeps getting better and better.

Inexpensive alternative
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for an inexpensive tablet that I could use mainly to surf the Internet, check work email while on vacation with the ability to type a response on a real computer, and mainly to read ebooks. The purchase started off a bit rough, I was really pushed to buy a Samsung, but I really didn’t want to spend an extra $300 to check email, surf the Internet & read books. I went with my gut and ran into issues as usual. The first tablet came charged but there was an issue with the machine and the battery wouldn’t recharge. I took it back to Best Buy and risked a straight up exchange - even though I seriously debated a return. The process was very efficient. About 6 weeks later I am thrilled with the tablet/laptop. It is bulkier than a tablet but so much lighter than a laptop. It is incredibly functional and is so much more user friendly on the email/Internet side than the Kindle I replaced. I am now using it in place of my laptop & iPhone. I’m not sure how the machine will hold up, but I can guarantee you that if it makes it 3 years this will be one of the best $200 purchases I have ever made.

Great for goofing off
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this so I could take apps off of my phone, stream music, and look things up. I realized how much social media and games were sucking up my time. I started looking at tablets and came across this on sale for 80 bucks. The guy in the store did everything he could to up-sell $1000 devices and tell me how awful this is. Well so far it works great. I use it to listen to music and audio books when I'm working. I use it a lot in the kitchen when I need to look things up. I also use it as an e-reader with Overdrive and kindle and have had no problem. I would not recommend this for serious work or gaming. Its not going to run multiple programs. Its not super fast or powerful. It is good for killing time and goofing off

A Good Mini-Laptop Under $200
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are very few Windows 10 laptops selling for under $200. This the only Windows laptop under $200 with a touchscreen and the only laptop in that price range that converts to a tablet. The screen is sharp, with good color and contrast. I am impressed by how useful the touch function has been. With a touch of my finger I can scroll down a document or zoom in on a detail. Netflix movies look good. The speaker volume is much too soft so I plug in my JBL speaker and get great sound. The Insignia is designed for email, checking the news, preparing short documents or taking notes at school. It works fine for those tasks. Plug in a good speaker or headphones and it is great for Netflix or listening to music on Pandora. It does NOT have the muscle to play action games or o use Photoshop. The battery will last seven or eight hours in airplane mode with the screen at 50% or 60% brightness, such as for taking notes in school. When you are streaming Netflix movies at 70% or 80% screen brightness the battery will last four or five hours. The 32 gb solid state storage enables the Insignia to boot up quickly and quietly. You must constantly go into "settings" and "storage" and delete old versions of Windows to make room for new versions of Windows. During setup, it took seven hours for updates as the original version of Windows was replaced by a second version and then by a third version. You might be able to cut the update process to one hour. After the first fifteen minutes of setup and after you are connected to wifi and updates have begun, go to "settings" and "recovery". Select "install fresh copy of Windows". In about 45 minutes, everything on your Insignia will be erased and the newest version of Windows 10 will be installed. You then go to "settings", then "storage" and delete the old copy of Windows. At that point you will have 17 gb of open storage on your drive.

Excellent value when on sale!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted a new toy apart from my laptop so I saw this, read the product specifications, and thought it was a very good value for the price. I ordered it online, had it sent to me with free shipping and received it quickly. When you use the keyboard, it is a little top heavy. Getting used to the smaller keys and having no number keypad was new, but those are small things that don't matter that much to me because the size and portability more than make up for it. The USB charging cord is only about 3' long so you need to be close to a 2 prong power outlet. It uses the new USB type C port so you need to, and it says, use only the included AC adapter and USB Type C cable for charging purposes. It's nice that it comes with a micro HDMI port just in case you feel like hooking it up to a larger screen, but I have not tried it. Personally, I don't like the mouse pads on portable devices so I use an external wireless mouse/trackball. The keyboard has a USB 2.0 port on it. When I have it docked, I can use my trackball. One last thing. I saw a review stating that there is no online users guide. There is one available on Insignia's site. The following link should take you there as of this post. Under the 4th tab over (Support and Downloads), you will find the link a few guides and information sheets in PDF format. https://www.insigniaproducts.com/pdp/NS-P10W8100/5855905

mightier than it looks
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i performed the windows update, deleted the old files, and eventually ended up with almost 20 gigs of free space. So to test the machine, i installed netbeans, r and R studio, MS PowerBI, and activated the office applications through my enterprise account. So far so good. Holding up very well. I haven't done any serious programming but good for all the basic stuff for learners. The battery holds enough power. Down sides: Keyboard is too heavy. Maybe to counter the tablet in upward position. Also the angle is kind of weird when the screen is in upward position. I wish it could lean little more backwards. Also the usb housing is too tight. I have to push the dongles in. The left click button at the bottom of the touchpad sticks time to time. I got it for a deeply discounted price. For that price it worths. For the full price, there may be other alternatives.

Excellent for light work but toss the power supply
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked up a half dozen of these for various tasks. One was for use as an inexpensive and lightweight Windows PC I could easily carry about for times when I'd be out in the field with a need to log in to systems at client sites when I didn't want to schlep along my full-sized laptop. It's done exceedingly well at that task. Although I wouldn't want to code or write a novel on the small keyboard, it is adequate for managing systems or writing short communications. For some reason, it comes with the 32-bit version of Windows 10, but since you won't be using this PC for anything requiring a lot of computing power, it really doesn't matter. For the light tasks you will likely be using this for, it is adequate. The others I purchased for roles where I needed to access a dedicated PC on networks at remote locations 24/7 for testing and diagnostic purposes. Initially, these worked well. But then after the Fall Windows Creators Update 1709, these computers started shutting down on their own. For some reason, the batteries were not charging while the computers were running. I finally discovered that using alternate (and certainly better quality) power supplies resolved the problem. So if you're looking for a lightweight (in both size and computing ability) laptop/tablet, this unit delivers and a very low cost. My only recommendation is to consider a better quality USB-C power supply.

Terrific value for the money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been debating getting a Windows tablet to replace my Android one. Been looking at this tablet for $179, and when it went on sale for $79, it was no-brainer. It arrived via free shipping one business day later. The screen is sharp, bright, and thanks to IPS, viewable from wide angle. The resolution is 1280x800, but due to the 10" screen, it looks very sharp. Speaker is decent, but not great. 100% volume is not very loud, more like 60% volume on my Galax Tab tablet. The detachable keyboard is a nice touch. Works well and makes typing a lot easier. The keyboard also has a USB port, so you can attach an external mouse or keyboard (or both via hub). Set up like that, it really becomes a nice, compact netbook/laptop. One drawback: When the tablet is attached to the keyboard, it becomes rather top-heavy; on a flat desk it's not an issue, but if you set it down on your lap, it will flip backwards. A minor issue. It has 32GB c: drive. After all the updates (Windows 10 Fall Creator's Update, April update, you name it) have been applied, and old Windos installation removed via Disk Cleaner, there's 16GB of free space left. I added 128GB micro SDXC card to tablet and set that as D: drive. So far it's been working great. It'd been a good buy at $179, but at $79 it's a steal. Highly recommended.

On the go
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laplet (laptop/tablet) for the sole purpose of traveling or just simply on the go. I don't want a heavy one and this one just works for me. The Intel Atom Quad Core processor is enough for my basic needs of a computer such as e-mail, document processing, and multimedia (Hulu & Netflix). It's a $79.99 tablet that runs a full Windows operating system. It comes with a 32 GB but right out of the box after updates you'll have about 14GB left and most of my stuff are in the cloud anyway so I don't mind. The 2GB RAM is fast enough for me. Well done BestBuy.

Nice little tablet
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a nice little tablet. As such don’t expect it to be a speed demon given its price point. I am taking one star given that Office Mobile with core editing is not available contrary to what MIcrosoft’s claim that 10.1” tablets can have core editing. Thankfully there are other options available.

Very good value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have to say I am pleasantly surprised by this item. After reading some of the negative reviews, I figured I might be taking a chance with this. It was fully charged right out of the box and I started it up and signed on to my network without difficulty. After tweaking a few display settings, it runs just as fast, maybe faster, than my ASUS X205ta. No lag, keyboard works fine, wireless mouse works as well. I never cared much for touchpads. Sound is so-so, but that wasn't a deal breaker. Time will tell for long term use but it does exactly what I bought it for. Browses the net and runs Microsoft Office 2003 just fine. It ran the Windows 10 update this AM without a glitch. Hard drive is only half full after update. I'd say its worth what I paid for it. 2gb RAM and 32gb SSD. Pretty standard for tablets/netbooks like this. I put a 32gb micro SD card in and it works just fine as well. Get a screen protector. The screen feels like it's plastic, but I don't care, since I bought it more to use as a netbook.

Nice for the price but watch updating!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My fav small Win 10 tablet, good build quality, acceptably fast and works fine with the usual streaming sites and web/email use. However...! BE SURE you go to the Insignia forums and download the driver package! On the New Year "gift" I got from Microsoft it wiped all of the Insignia drivers and I had to reinstall them one by one. That was it... disabled automatic updates on all of my devices. If it ain't broke, don't eff with it! I like these Insignia Windows tabs-when you get it set up the way you like, they just work.

Love it, except for the charger/cord
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The tablet and keyboard arrived yesterday afternoon. They work great, and easily attaches to each other. The one con is the charger; it worked for the 1st hour and then worked intermittently. I found a USB C to USB A charger/cord online and on-sale at Best Buy (Belkin brand). I figured since I saved on the tablet, this cost for a working cord is a good purchase. If I had paid full price, I would have returned the tablet. Assume for now that all went well with the new charger; if it doesn't, I'll post an update.

Amazing Tablet!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had ordered this tablet the other day and received the tablet last night. It works amazingly smooth. However, it is a little bit slow on the windows 10 update when you get it. It takes about 2 hours or so to download but other then that, its perfect. I will definitely be ordering this again in the late future! it works exactly like a laptop. Heck, its basically a laptop but with a touch screen.
