    Great Speakers for Price

I bought these speakers today on sale for $17.99 the week before Black Friday for my laptop. My laptop speakers sound hollow and there is no bass. I hooked these speakers up and they sound amazing. I definately recommend this product. I also think Insignia has high quality products and Best Buy is the place to get em'!!!!

I would have bought the Logitech speakers that were on sale for the same price. The were higher wattage and you could really tell by listening in the store. However, they were rather ugly and I didn't want to be seeing them on a daily basis. That said, I'm happy with the sound from these. They have a nice richness that I've been missing and they are more than loud enough.

I bought these for cheap decent sounding speakers to use in a control room at work. The sound quality is good for low volume use with an mp3 player. Don't expect earth shattering bass but is adequate. The sub does protest a bit when the volume goes up but is fine as long as you don't push it to it's limit. I expect these to be fine for my intended use but would be junk on a gaming pc and last only a few minutes at any volume. The logitechs are better but twice the money. Anybody should be happy if bought on sale and have reasonable expectations.

Bought this on sale for 20.99, had a $5 birthday certificate from Best Buy. It was delivered free to my home fairly quick for a little under $17. Sounds great with my mp3. Sounds way better than my built in laptop speakers. Easy to take places if you like portability.

I got this speaker and subwoofer set for 40 bucks at my local best buy. I loved it! Very easy to pull in. Not to many cords, And the subwoofer gives a very nice strong kick. So far after a week of blasting my favorite music, I have noticed little to no feedback from these speakers.

These speakers are great for me. They were super cheap and the quality of sound far outweighs the price. They don't get too loud so its better to use if you don't need pounding music, or for smaller rooms. I use it in my dorm with my laptop and I have absolutely no complaints.

I got these speakers for my laptop, and have hooked them up to my TV as well. The sound quality is great, and they look very sharp. The bass isn't much, but it's better than stock speakers on a computer or TV. Don't expect them to sound like a full surround sound system. These speakers are excellent if you're looking to add a deeper, more resonant sound.

I can't believe people complain on here that the sound quality isn't good when it IS! I just got these speakers & subwoofer today and they are clear and work quite well. They are smaller than my existing Dell speakers but they still have great sound quality to them and that's what matters. I highly recommend them and Creative or Logitech isn't better. I don't like the looks of their speakers anyhow. Good product, Best Buy & Insignia!

Airplay speaker system on the cheap

    Posted .

I bought this on special for around $25 to pair with a WIFI connected Raspberry Pi running OpenELEC with XBMC. This provided the ability to Airplay music from my iPhone to the speakers to create a very cheap Airplay speaker system for my bedroom (and replaced my alarm clock). The speakers will probably serve as added sound when I add a TV or large monitor to the Pi setup to stream movies. The subwoofer construction is cheap plastic but the L and R speakers look nice and have vol and bass controls and a headphone jack. The bass adjustement doesn't do a whole lot. I find i need the bass maxed out. Sound quality is ok for what it's for and the cost. There is a blue light to indicate the power is turned on. It is really bright and I would find it annoying if it was next to my monitor. I put a piece of tape over it.

Can't beat it, I purchased them for ~$20 for a setup at work. Audio quality is good, really don't have anything bad to say about them. Compared to others I tested in the store, you can't beat these for the price.

Biggest mistake was not getting two sets when they were available for <$14.00 I'm using them on the flat screen in the hearth room, and they're just perfect. Just plugged them into the headphone jack on my LG, and done! Easily fill the room with clear sound...no hiss...no pops. I'll save the theatre sound system for the big flat screen in the basement.

These speakers were cheap, but the sound quality is actually pretty nice for what I paid. Don't expect a large amount of bass from the little sub. Overall, I would buy these again as they are a great upgrade from the built in Macbook Pro speakers.

sound OK but very poor reliability

It seemed like a good purchase while it worked: pretty good sound for such a low price, enough to listen some music or amplify a movie on laptop. And I was even fine with such an inconvenient connection scheme (you can't use this set without woofer: power cable is connected to it and both speakers too). But it only seemed so good during first 5 connections. Then it just refused to turn on next time: power socket gone inside the woofer box and that was the end of the "Speaker System", I can't turn it on anymore.

I knew when I was going to make this purchase that these speakers will give out eventually. When I went out to buy some computer speakers it's because I needed some bad! It last me 6 months. I like using my stuffs at their maximum potential so the subwoofer gave out after I turned the bass up for a long time. Now I dont have sound coming out of my computer, Im currently on headphones. I can say I invested my money well in this thing. Now I will invest my money that will last me more than 2 years.

They are great speakers I bought some previously for an older computer they worked. When I previously bought they were only $25. But now they went up to $35, so when I get my next pair I would rate only good for 'value for price'. Overall they are great.

Total Stars: 4.75 Sound quality on 1st laptop (6 yrs old) was above average to good, high frequency were not as prominent, bass was just right. Sound Quality on 2nd laptop (<1 yr old) was great, switching SRS to the "strong base and treble" setting made the sound amazing. Extremely crisp sound, bass was great for a sub-woofer its size, but was not overpowering, and at loud volume the bass was not saturating at all. The speakers are small but are LOUD, very suitable for a large living room and can certainly can fill up a master bedroom with strong sounds using a HTPC (for tweaked settings). As expected, it is very easy to setup. Within a minute, after opening the box, we had sound. The cables seem like strong, long-lasting quality, the cable length between the two speakers is about 4' to 4 1/2'. I was lucky to have purchased this system at $12.99, great buy after a quick tweak of my sound settings. Quality without tweaking is 4/5, good overall sound quality.

You get what you pay for. The sound quality for this smaller set is super when compared to more expensive units. This item more then met my needs and expectaions.
