    Excellent compact refrigerator

This is a review of an Insignia Model NS-CF26BK9 2.6 Cubic foot compact refrigerator. In a nutshell: an excellent mini refrigerator at a great price. This unit was purchased for use in a college dorm. Before this refrigerator was purchased, a lot of reviews for quiet dorm refrigerators were read. With concern about about noise being of high importance, we nearly purchased an absorption type refrigerator but finally did not because what was available was a little too small and there are very few reviews to base a purchase decision on. In the end, the tried, efficient, and proven technology of a compressor type refrigerator of practical (and dorm allowed) size, this one, was chosen. We also opted for this model, a pure refrigerator because most most compact refrigerator that also include an internal freezer unit don’t do the freezing part well - it requires defrosting and ice cream gets destroyed according to many. Many of the reviews for this unit complain that the unit received was damaged with dents, sometimes even when the shipping box seemed unscathed. With this in mind, we decided to pick up our unit from our local Best Buy which had several in stock rather than having it shipped to home. We confided our damage concerns to the Best Buy salesperson and they agreed to let us open the box to examine the unit in the store. On opening, the unit appeared to be in perfect dent free condition so we took it home. After letting it sit upright for 24 hours we set the thermostat to the recommended ‘4’ plugged it in and it quietly got to work. During the period of time of the initial cool-down of the refrigerator internal space, the right and left (outside) sides of the refrigerator got noticeably warm. This heating is noted in several other reviews. Once the refrigerator got to a stable desired internal temperature, approximately 38 degrees F, the compressor stopped working so hard and the sides of the refrigerator returned to ambient temperature. Even during the initial cool-down, this unit was very quiet. The main time any noise is noticed from this refrigerator is when the door is opened and the sounds of circulating fluid may be heard. Several questions and reviews concern the meaning of the numbers for the thermostat: is ‘1’ or ‘7’ colder? The numbers are a little ambiguous however a label underneath the thermostat makes it clear that ‘7’ is the coldest setting, ‘4’ is the recommended setting. The construction of this unit seems very good. From the back, the compressor unit is visible and the plumbing simple and clean. The steel bottom frame of the unit is also visible and it looks pretty robust. The internal glass shelves are a plus because small items won’t fall through and the shelves will never rust. The glass shelves also have raised plastic edges that help to retain the shelves in position without sliding around. The only area where this unit seems a little limited is in the leveling adjusters. There are two feet in the front that can be screw adjusted for height but in the back there is just a single long rail. When the front adjusters are screwed all the way in, the front feet are at the same height as the back rail. This allows some right / left slop compensation and compensation if the floor is lower in the front than the back of the refrigerator. But if the floor is lower to the back of the refrigerator than the front, then the back rail needs to be shimmed up because the front feet cannot compensate. This is one small flaw of minor impact on an otherwise excellent refrigerator. I did say at the beginning of this review that this refrigerator was at an excellent price. We thought the price was reasonable when we bought it but two days later it was on sale. We went back to Best Buy, got a price adjustment without any hassle and in the end got this excellent refrigerator for an even better price. Good got even better!

We call this our "chilly bin", a name derived from some Australian shows we've seen ;-> We've got at least 15 different drink varieties that we like to keep chilled, and as you can imagine, that takes up A LOT OF ROOM in the refrigerator, so this chilly bin was a PERFECT solution! I've got over 30 <1/2 litre> bottles in here, and it saves us from constantly opening the refrigerator which keeps our perishable foods fresher. I gave it 4 stars because we had the chilly bin shipped to our house, and judging from the outside packaging... the damage I saw was NOT as a result of the shipping... it appeared that it had been damaged prior to packaging. This applied to 3 different orders! Otherwise it was an EXCELLENT BUY for under $100!!!

This is a nice little fridge for an apartment or in my case my garage workshop. It doesn't come with a freezer compartment but I wasn't looking for that. Temperature setting run from zero (off) to 7 with 1 actually being the lowest setting before turning off. At one the fridge temp inside is 48 degrees which makes for a nice cool drink. To get it cold you will need to turn to 4 or 5. Space is good inside and the unit fits under a work bench just fine. There were a few scratches and some plastic that fell off which I have no idea what it came from. Overall though, very pleased with purchase of this unit and would recommend.

Pros: 1) Affordable price 2) Cooling power is good, keeps drinks cold. 3) Shelves can be removed to fit drinks in different sizes (I use mine to store beers mainly, ranging from 12 oz to tall boys). 4) Shipping by Best Buy is fast and reliable. Arrives with no damage. 5) Runs quiet. 6) Compact size saves space. Cons: 1) Make sure you check cash back apps such as ibotta for additional cash back/discount. I found additional $10 cash back deals for the fridge after my purchase and deeply regret it. Neutral: 1) There is no freezer section, this works fine for me as I purchased this mainly to store beers. However, make sure you do your homework before purchase.

    Awesome Mini Refrigerator

I’ve had several mini refrigerators over the years, and this one is my favorite. I don’t have much use for the small freezer that most mini fridges come with, so it’s perfect that this fridge is ALL refrigerator space. The fridge doesn’t take up much space, yet it’s big enough for 2-3 people to store food in. It’s works great and isn’t noisy at all. I definitely recommend this fridge if you need something small, yet spacious!

The mini fridge is pretty big, but has no freezer. It is a quiet fridge, with lots of space, and gets pretty cold. Also you can adjust the door, and the height of the legs on the fridge.

I needed a new compact mini fridge for my office countertop and this insignia mini fit perfectly. The black exterior finish is very nice. The interior space is sufficient for my coffee cream, water bottles and lunch bag. The temperature setting was recommended to be set at 4 on the dial so I set it to 5 and had to set it back to 4 because my water was getting a little icy. The fridge runs almost silent, you hear just a little click when the compressor turns on. As far as storage goes, I have 8 bottles of water, 4 bottles of soda,a pure brand water filter pitcher for making coffee. I had to remove 1 shelf to fit the water filter pitcher. The door comes with removable slots for can beverages. I had to remove 1 of the slots to fit a quart container of coffee cream. The top shelf in the fridge fits my lunch and various fruits and snacks. This insignia mini-fridge is well built and operates perfectly and suits my needs. It’s exactly what I was looking for in my office.

I bought this for my bedroom to store water in and juices. It's bigger than a cube fridge but smaller than a counter-height fridge. It looks nice, too, with the white solid door that doesn't smudge. The packaging was fine. Kudos to BestBut for shipping quickly and FedEx's to deliver it in a timely manner. The fridge worked fine right out of the box. It was light enough for me to get out of the box and carry to its spot, as well as shift it to be just where I wanted it. It didn't take long for it to get cold, and the fridge also seemed to get to refrigerator temperature pretty quickly. The only downside is that when the fridge switches on, it can be a little noisy sometimes but it's not a huge bother. This is definitely a solid buy at a great price. If my experience with my Insignia fridge at home is any indication (9+ years and still running beautifully) this fridge should last a good while.

Mini fridge gets nice and cold. It fits perfectly in my son's dorm room and it doesn't take up a ton of space. The fridge is surprisingly very quiet, like you literally do not hear it at all and you can put a lot of food and drinks inside of it.

Bought as a gift but was an upgrade to a 30 year old comparable size dorm fridge from 1988. Much quieter and with out the little freezer square that didn’t hold much and had to be defrosted. This looks good, quieter but not super quiet. Hold a lot more a d keeps stuff cold. Use for food, drinks and wine so needed a fridge that cold keep food safe.

I bought this Insignia mini fridge for my office/sports den which is located in the finished basment of our house. It's small enough to fit in the corner of the little kitchenette I set up, yet big enough to hold beer, milk, bread and butter, and more. It cools very nicely and is fairly quiet for a refrigerator. I've only had it for a month, so we'll see how it does in the long haul, but for now it's just what the doctor ordered.

Purchased for my (small) department at work and it's great - keeps our drinks, creamer and a couple of lunches nice and cold. Opened and closed about 30 times a day and it has no issue staying nice and chilly. We keep it under an open desk in the middle of the department and it runs so quietly you can't even hear it seated at the desk next to it. Really excellent for the money - better than expected!

This fridge was purchased to place in my office at work to keep drinks, snacks, and lunch cold. It is the perfect size as it does not take up much space in the office and has plenty of interior space for drinks and food. It keeps the drinks perfectly chilled and does not make very much noise when running.

I ordered this fridge for my office at work because the communal fridge was always full and was on the other side of the building to where my office is located. I love that its super quiet and doesn't have a freezer. I don't need all of the fridge space, but it will be nice to store some snacks or drinks I can grab and go with later. I would have given the product 5 stars, but Best Buy shipped it in its original box. It was a little beat up when I got it. This caused it to have dents and scratches all over the fridge itself. I know it would have been wasteful, but shipping it in another box with some more package protection would have been nice. Besides the choice of packaging, its very, very quiet. The previous reviews helped me choose this item because of how quiet people were saying it was. It also started to cool very quickly. Overall its great little fridge. Only down side is how Best Buy decided to handle the packaging and shipping.

Got this mini fridge for our bedroom since we are living at my in-laws and I need it a place for all my beverages. TBH I didn’t felt the need to splurge on an expensive mini fridge so I just bought whatever was cheapest, yet something that work for our needs. Upon searching I came across this mini fridge and it worked perfectly for us. I like that even though it’s small it can hold a lot ( I can fit 2-12 packs of soda, a bunch of waters and still have room left for other stuff). I was able to remove one of the shelves to place some of the taller items standing up which I really like. I did noticed that it gets very cold to the point that some of the waters were getting frozen so I lower the setting from a 7 to a 4 and that seems to work perfectly. I would 100% suggest it for anyone looking for a mini fridge. Since the fridge was so affordable I was able to get the 4 yr. warranty on it and still stayed under budget.

I bought this Mini Fridge to use downstairs to keep soda/water/beer cold and a few food items. It actually holds more than you would expect in the fridge and door. I'm very happy it does not have a small freezer because they are typically useless and a waste of space. I was very pleased with the curb side pick-up at the Manchester, NH store and had no issues with the Fridge once home and unboxed. Everything was wrapped and well protected, It is a perfect size for what I needed and keeps the drinks very cold. Actually had to turn down the temperature we had it set at because it was too cold and freezing some of the drinks. I think that's a good problem to have versus not keeping drinks cold enough. It is also very quiet when running. You can barely hear it, which was very important to me. I'm very please with this product. If you are looking for a Mini Fridge that is reasonably priced, I would highly recommend.
