This is what it is - an extension cord for my headphones. What I never liked about coiled cords is the tightness and constant tugging against the headphones. While it may say 20' extension, don't expect to be able to use much more than 10' of it without the cord yanking the headphones, or in my case, earbuds, from your head. I'm always having to stretch the cord out and then finding a seat cushion or something to anchor it with so that it doesn't pull the earbuds from my ears. This is the only way to use a coiled cord and still have some freedom to squirm around in your seat or toss and turn in bed. I'll recommend them because there aren't many other options out there when you walk into a store to grab something like this off the shelf. I also understand the purpose of the coiled cord to act like a shock absorber, which is great when you walk around and listen on your headphones, but for sitting down to listen, you're better off finding a straight, uncoiled cord.

    Awful product at inflated price

I bought this in an attempt to listen to albums across the room from my stereo - what a horrible waste of money. The adapters included were BOTH either manufactured without any quality control or had been zapped with high voltage and shorted to blazes and back - both completely attenuated the high end of the signal and introduced completely unacceptable noise levels on the low end, to the point of garbling the midrange. The cable itself was so tightly coiled that it was essentially impossible to get 10' of extension out of it, much less the advertised 20' - and the extension attenuated signal so badly that I was required to crank the volume control to the stop in order to get any sort of audible signal out of my 'phones. This is coming back to the store tomorrow, and I will be buying a better quality cable from an online vendor instead!

    Poor Quality, Poor Functionallity

Sorry, but I bought this cable because of the good rating and good reviews, but I am certainly disappointed. 1. It states the cable is 20 ft, however, don't think you can use it for a longer distance than 6-8 ft. The coil simply pulls your headphones off your head if you try to go further. 2. The quality of the electrical connection is really poor. Utilizing the cable really reduced not only the volume but also the sound quality enormously. Keep looking for an other cable, I am returning mine to Best Buy tomorrow.

I needed a cord for some wired headphones, and at one time, had a cord with adapters, but it is nowhere to be found. I asked the salesman at the North Olmsted, OH location if the store carried a cord with adaptors to use in a bookshelf system. He said they did and it was exactly what I needed. The length of the cord was good, and extended the distance with the headphone cord as well. The connections were easy and fit the headphones and the bookshelf unit input jack too. I thought I was out of luck as I do have wireless Bluetooth headphones, and unfortunately, cannot be used with an older bookshelf system. I am glad to be using the cord with my headphones again!! Thank you for your help. The price was great, too.

I purchased this item a couple weeks ago, unfortunately it's too late to return. I trust best buy so I didn't bother to check this product out right away. First I needed a long auxiliary to reach my tv. This is advertised as what I needed but it's coiled and you can stretch but it's too tight and unplugs if pulled on so take that 20' and take 16' away because you can't stretch it. Also every single pair of headphones I've tried in it the sound...... Well sometimes you can hear a little.

    Don't be mislead by length

This product does include a few different connections options, which is nice. It also does what it says as far as extending the area in which you can connect headphones. HOWEVER, do not be mislead by the cord length listed. The 20 feet cord is COILED, which means it really has to stretch to reach that length. Once you get beyond 10 feet, tension is created because the coiled cord is "pulling" itself back to being coiled. This is very annoying if you're using headphones at that distance or beyond, and also puts unnecessary stress on the jacks. There are better 20 foot cords out there, unfortunately, none available at Best Buy. This is the only extension cord they offer at that length.

I purchased this to use with my headphones for listening at home with my home theater system. I sit about 14 feet from my receiver and my headphones only have a 4 ft. cord. I wanted to have enough slack in the cord so that the cord would lay on the floor and not pull on my head. Even though this cord says it is 20' it really is only about 10. The 20 ' measurement is taken before the cord is coiled up. In order to get this cord to relax I had to stretch and stretch and stretch and it still wants to curl back up. I will probably have to buy another one or a different cord altogether. Other than that, the cord works as it should.

The description of this item (as of this writing) is incorrect: The item is a 20' 1/4" (NOT 3.5mm) extension cable and 1/4"-to-3.5mm and 3.5mm-to-1/4" (NOT 1/8"-to-3.5mm) adapters. (If it were as described, it could not be used to extend either a 1/8" or 3.5mm connection.) This cable is perfect for using my corded headphones while watching TV. It is a particularly good value since it includes the adapters, which allow it to be used in any of 4 configurations: - 1/4"-to-1/4" - 1/4"-to-3.5mm - 3.5mm-to-1/4" - 3.5mm-to-3.5mm

This is actually a 1/4" extension, not 1/8"

This appears to be a great, high quality extension cord. When new, the curl is very tight which makes it feel much shorter than 20', but it stretches out. Most importantly, this is a 1/4" headphone extension cable! It comes with adaptors for each end to shrink to 1/8", but if you're trying to extend your normal, every day headphones, this is probably NOT the cord for you. This is more for professional audio monitors.

I needed extension cable for 3.5 mm jacks and this was all the store had available. OK, so it has adapters for both ends converting it to a 3.5 mm plug set. Cable works but the 1/4 plug, with the adapter attached, makes for a long lever arm on the 3.5 mm port on your device. This combined with the coiled cord constantly exerting pressure on the assembly, this will rapidly damage the headphone jack on your device in my estimation. I think it would work fine as a 1/4" extension due to the larger jack/plug. I bought another cable for my original need and threw this one in my bag of cables.

I had to connect a remote speaker to a sound board in a large gymnasium for a special event. There were no cables available so I turned to Best Buy, thinking that a connector cord should be in stock. It was! The cable was exactly what I needed, and the extra adapter plugs that came in the package were a real plus. I ended up using it as an intermediate length cable, requiring one of the adapters for connection and the fact that it was flexible helped to keep it from flopping all over the place. Saved me a LOT of time to make the fix! It worked perfectly.

I have bought this specific product 3 separate times, and everytime it is an absolute let down. 1 out of the 3 works, and even then it is spotty. I’m a podcaster and my guests complain constantly about their ability to hear themselves, but it’s too much of a pain to return them. I wouldn’t purchase this again if it was the last item left to do the job. It was recommended by Best Buy service members, and it upsets me that I can’t trust them to help me pick an option that will actually last.

I really only needed the small adapters but the store did not have the adapter by itself (contrary to the website showing it in stock at that location). There is not much really to this product. It either works or it doesnt. Nothing fancy. I dropped the stars down to 3 because I felt it was over priced compared to other ones I found on Amazon. I needed it in a pinch and didn't really have many options. If you can wait for the shipping time, buy it elsewhere and save at least half!

The Insignia 20' Headphone Extension Cable with Adapter Kit-Black provided the length I wanted. However, the adapter kit did not function as well as I had hoped. The good news: the adapter provided the 3.5mm adapter plug I needed for my headphones. However, the adapter connection was loose. It yielded a reduction in sound volume and quality that unfortunately was not acceptable. To Best Buy's credit, they willingly accepted my return and credited my account.

I purchased this to work as an extension from my receiver to when I'm sitting on the couch playing a game with headphones on. My original thought was the coiled design would be beneficial and stronger. However, it's just like a slinky. It kept receding backwards each time I sat down. Almost felt like I had to hold on to the cord just so it wouldn't move. I'm sure there are times when this design of cord work as intended, but just not for sitting on the couch with headphones.

This cable set is a real problem solver. Whether you have a big jack when you need a little one, or if you have a little mini-jack but need a big one, this set will solve your problem. And if you need to plug into something way over there from way over here, then this product will take care of you - up to 20 feet! Amazing. I believe that everyone should buy at least one of these today just to have around. You never know when you might just need to adapt.

It is about 5ft long without pulling on it(see photo), and if you are using the 3.5mm adapters to plug in your headphones, stretching the cable will pop off the adapters. I would only plan on using it up to 8 ft, because the tension of the coiled cable is bad for the ports on your device as well. I got it on sale, and it works.

I purchased this cable to extend the reach of my headphones from my stereo/PC. This cable is sturdy and works exactly as I had hoped. Also, this cable came with an adapter to fit the smaller diameter jacks common to iPads, etc. This is nice too as it allows me to use this cable with my laptop. All-in-all, a great extension cable at a great price. I recommend anyone who is looking for a means to extend their range of motion while wearing headsets, etc., to buy this cable. It's great!

Overall I was happy with this item. It did exactly what it is described as doing: extending your headphones. It also comes with a few different adapters to fit whatever types of headphones you have. The only thing keeping this from 5 stars is the tightness of the cable coil. I need to anchor the cable with a pillow, my foot, or something else if I am sitting more than five feet away, or risk pulling the cable out of its input source.

I use this along with another extension to check microphone placements and sound differences panned left right or stereo through a mixer. its what i need to have freedom to move around the room without tangling non retractable cable. I have no signal loss distortion or latency due to distance. Its an everyday cable for me. and has made its money back every time its used. Studio life sucks with out the right cables. who wants frustration when making happy recordings..
