Pretty good so far the noise is more like a manufacturing sound which is expected from a appliance no issue at all with that..Did consider the GE profile but the reviews were horrible for that price. This machine produce very good soft ice in a lane of it own also after it make ice let it sit to cure for a while and it gets softer and will not melt over night after the making process is done..Im only 3weeks in so as time pass ill update.

Excellent ice maker for on demand needs

Well I only had it for a week, but it works well produces a bin full of ice in about 5 hours. The Isis as advertised Sonic type ice. It's a little louder than I would have liked but if you're only using it during a party, then it shouldn't be an issue. You do have to fill it with water which is not a big deal you pulled a been out and does the water in the bottom Slide the been back in and as the ice melts it melts into the bin and recycle Susan machine and make more ice so you always have a supply of ice on hand. You do have to restart the icemaker if it runs out of water. I would have liked it to have cooled or kept the ice cold but it doesn't.

Excellent product! I purchased it over 2 years ago and it's still performing exceptionally well. One minor point to mention is that it can be a bit noisy, and when the reservoir is empty, it continues to operate, making some noise. It would be a great improvement if the ice maker function automatically turned off when the water runs out.

Bought the Insignia due to the price and 44lbs per day rating. After a day I couldn't resist also trying the Opal 2.0 because of the external storage tank. I put them head to head to decide which to keep. The Insignia produces ice 25% faster. 3 lbs 3 oz in 2 hours. Versus the Opal 2 lbs 8 oz in the same 2 hours. The quality of ice from each is the same. Insignia is nice a crunchy and has a square shape. Opal is nice a crunchy with a cylindrical shape. The drawer in the Insignia is harder to open. The Insignia is louder. Not unbearable but louder none the less. There is also a knocking sound periodically. This is more bothersome than the hum of the comprssor. In the Insignia you have to remove the bucket to fill it with water. You can get about 2.5 batches before refilling. In the end I am returning the Insignia because I am afraid my kids will break the drawer trying to open it, refilling it is not as convenient, and it is a louder.

Well it makes alot of ice, I love that. But after a month it’s starting be make less ice and squeaking noises. The other issue is… there is no way to clean it well. I worry about mold. The unit is sealed so you can’t get to where the ice is generated. I am hoping it lasts. Do not buy this without the warranty, I think you’re gonna need it.

I am giving this a 3 because the machine itself is nice and it makes good ice. The downside I have with it is it is extremely loud. Sometimes it even sounds like a chainsaw off in the distance. You also have to clean the machine every 3 days which can be a hassle. I’ve thought about returning it because maybe mine is defective.

I love the size of the ice. I don't like the loud noise the machine makes when and the constant cleaning. The recommended cleaning is every 3 days. Also, it stops making ice after 24 hours, and I have to reset the machine.

I love this item! There is nothing like nugget ice. I love the size of the machine as it doesn’t take up a lot of space. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars is the door is hard to open. You don’t open from bottom you actually need to use the sides and it is a little noisy.

It certainly gets the job done — making the “fancy ice,” but these units, which are actually still made by the original manufacturer and sold under their own name, are prone to prematurely going out and/or at the very least having lights go out behind the buttons

This ice maker had everything I was looking for: Good Reviews, Under $500, the smaller bullet ice option, and no additional water line hook-up. I'm still happy with it, but over time its gotten a little louder. Its not obnoxious, but we notice it more now and may just move it to another location, which is EXACTLY why I wanted no additional water line hook up. Its portable.

This is a great ice maker. The nugget ice makes my wife happy so I'm happy. So easy to use and makes ice quickly. If a little noise bothers you then pass on this or put it somewhere you can't hear it. It's not enough noise to bother us but I have read reviews on other machines and that is their only complaint. We love this machine.

Let's get this out of the way first - this machine produces ice that is best described as miniature clear ice cubes, not nugget ice as most people may expect/hope. Whereas "real" nugget ice has a structure/texture like snow that's been tightly compacted but is still somewhat porous, the cubes produced by this machine seems to be composed of laminated layers of clear ice (with each layer about ~1/16" thick.) Each piece of ice has a cross-section of ~3/8" square, is just under 1/2" long, and is quite firm. The machine appears to freeze the layers into 3/8"-square "sticks" that are then the cut or snapped into 1/2" lengths which fall into the ice bin. The net effect of these mini cubes is that they don't break down as easily as the compressed flakes found in nugget ice when chewed. It's chewable insofar as any small, solid ice cube can be chewed, but it doesn't quickly breakdown into the slushy ice particles that most people associate with nugget ice. The flip side is that the "clear ice" aspect does mean that they don't melt as quickly as nugget ice, so your drinks won't get watered too quickly. Pluses: - it makes ice quickly - it started dropping cube within 15 minutes (using RO water @ 28PPM TDS, ambient air temp of ~74F), and the bin was about 3/4 full after approximately 4 hours. Production becomes progressively faster as the reservoir water become colder due to meltwater from the bin. - compressor & fan noise is average for a countertop ice maker. What's most noticable is the somewhat loud popping noise that it makes when the machine is breaking the ice sticks into cubes Cons: - ice bin design isn't great, as others have pointed out, it results in some drippage on the counter/catch tray when you pull it out to get ice or to add water. - water reservoir capacity is on the small side given the overall dimensions of the machine - machine drips a bit underneath in "clean" mode, but not when in "ice" mode. This is likely related to the large amount of liquid being drawn into the fluid-handling mechanism when cleaning mode is engaged. - the design of the machine presents a potential for overflow onto your counter & cabinets if you top off the water reservoir with a full ice bin. Meltwater may result in run-off as the ice melts. This hasn't happened to us (yet), but it a risk given the design. - Blue internal LED light really makes it hard to see inside Overall, there are no show stopper issues with the machine so far, just some things to be aware of. As for the machine itself, we've only had it one day, but it seems as well made as any other consumer, countertop ice maker. After our experience with an off-shore company (TaoTronics) essentially disavowing the warranty of our previous machine, we opted to go the Insignia route since this gives us more easily pursued options in event of similar shenanigans (and I bought a 5-year warranty for ~$12 from a popular, 3rd party warranty company online.)

Worked alright. Was rather loud, not the easiest to clean, and the level would randomly say it was low even though it had plenty of water. It lasted almost a year before it completely stopped working. Believe the internal pump went out. There's a new model out now, I went with the GE Opal 2 instead. Easier to fill, better quality ice.

Worth the purchase when it is a deal of the day. Saved over $75 as a deal of the day, so we purchased the extended service plan. The unit makes ice quickly but at the cost of a loud fan, and coolant system. The unit also makes a very loud popping sound that feels like it is going to break in half. Be prepared to have water leak from the unit when you open the tray. It comes with drip tray to catch the water that accumulates at the bottom of the bucket. The ice is the desired crush consistency that you are looking for, so you will try and put up with the noises and popping for that reason alone.

It makes the good ice, but it comes at a price. The price of silence. I’m a fan of the ice it makes, but it does take a while for it to make enough to fill a glass. It takes hours to fill the basket (never really timed it, but it takes a while). All the while, it screeches nonstop like it’s about to break. It’s not just the running of the machine, which I expected, but it truly sounds awful as it’s grinding away to spit out 2-3 nuggets every couple of minutes. I’ve only used filtered water and clean it according to the manual (every few days), but this noise is horrible. If you can put this in a place where you won’t hear it then you should be good. That is in a separate building. The ice does melt, but not at a quick pace. I usually put the ice in a ziploc and then put it into the freezer. Of note, if you want to put it straight into an ice tub in the freezer you should be warned that it will freeze into a solid block. Since the ice melts a little, it will only harden more when frozen. Best to bag it and then break it before putting into tub for scooping. Also, I didn’t know this until reading the manual, but it can’t be undermounted or placed anywhere in tight quarters due to the need for airflow. Pros: good ice for eating, the basket can be easily removed, easy to clean. Cons: slow and very loud

Worked great at first, started developing a terrible noise and wouldn't produce ice, Cleaned with vinegar and the problem would go away for 3-4 tank fulls and come back. Started using distilled water only and it is 100% better, Im assuming the mineral content in tap water builds up causing issues. Running distilled it is quieter, clearer ice and produces more. No issues since.

It produces ice very quickly. It's a nice looking machine, but holy cow it's LOUD whenever it's making ice (and sometimes just randomly?). Like, don't have this in a place remotely near where you're trying to sleep... or a place with wooden floors as the pops will echo throughout! 5 stars for quality of ice and design... 1 star for noise = 3 stars overall.

As much as i would love to give this Ice Machine 5 stars, i would be doing so only because of the price. What started out as quite, hardly noticeable ice maker has turned into a rattley, clanky popping rock tumbler. When the fan initially kicks on at the start of each cycle something in the exhaust fan sounds like some screws have come loose and its just ratteling away in there. Then theres the ice production itself, not exactly sure how this machine produces its softish cubes but as it goes to dispense them into the basket it moreso pops and sounds like the cube hits the metal case before sending it out the chute as a projectile, sometimes sounding like shattering glass. It was great brandnew, id say maybe as loud as a distant conversation in the other room, but now its the center of attention almost like a drill sergant screaming in your ear as you fire off a rifle without any earplugs. PROS: Softer ice than traditional cubes, but far from Sonic ice. Pretty quick ice production. CONS: NOISY, LOUD. Cubes seem to melt a little quick. Have to remove ice basket to refill reservoir . No place to store scoop when not in use.

Worked great just as described, for 2 months. Now, it still works but randomly makes a horrible noise that is only silenced by unplugging and restarting it. I'm now wondering how much longer it will function properly, as that should not be happening. It should be noted, I have not attempted to contact the manufacturer regarding the issue, but I did not purchase a protection plan either so....
