I purchased this item for my son since we were moving. I wasn’t able to open it and try to assemble it till a while after I had it shipped. Upon opening it, there was already damage to the pieces. The nails and supplies and things needed were not even included. There was even a roll of stickers that I have no idea what they are.

My wife and I were on the hunt for an inexpensive TV stand that we could use in our basement for our old 42 inch LCD and ended up purchasing this Insignia unit. Overall, the finished product is high quality, sturdy, stylish, and is perfect for a gaming setup as it has a nice amount of space and shelves. The ONLY reason I'm giving this 4 stars is because there are some minor hurdles when it comes to the assembly.
My wife and I tag teamed building this which was definitely the way to go as it took us about 2 hours from start to finish. Everything was pretty straightforward up until one of the final steps of installing the bottom back panel. The issue with this step is that the pre-drilled holes on this piece do not line up whatsoever with the rest of the unit which was a tad bit confusing and which was not explained by the instruction manual. However, a fairly quick fix that we found was to take a power drill and just drill new holes into the unit to match the back panel which we then filled with the provided screws. With that said, here are some important things to note regarding assembly:
1. You will definitely want to have a power drill handy as it will make tightening the screws way easier and is necessary for installing the bottom back panel.
2. The color is much darker than the image shows (we were happy to discover this) and if you google search "dark walnut furniture" you'll get a better idea of what it will look like.
3. Be extremely careful when following the directions because if you install a piece with the holes facing the wrong way, it will be very hard to undo (we almost had this happen but luckily caught it).
4. It's hard to tell from the pictures but this unit has plenty of openings in the back to string cords through.
Now that the cabinet is built we are extremely happy with it and I would highly recommend this product.

I have put a many of things together. The military made sure of that. But this gave me a fit putting it together. The manual is not for people with poor vision. I tried from 2000 (8pm) to 2400 (midnight) trying my little heart out. Trying to see the diagrams as a guide. It did not work at all. Because I couldn’t see it. I tried YouTube and Insignia that did not work either. I finally gave up and knew I had been defeated. I had to hire a 20+ year old that told me it wasn’t me (God Bless him). He stated that the diagram pictures were small and it gave him a little trouble seeing as well. So this is why I rated so low.
I loved the product after he completed it.

I bought this to be my entertainment stand, and I'm not disappointed. The pieces were easy to put together, though tedious and took a long time, and that's about my only complaint. When I first saw it finally put together I thought that the space was going to be an issue, but it surprised me with how much it could hold. I currently have 5 stacks of movies and games, four game systems, the router to the internet, a television, a DVD player, and several bags in the 'general wires and cords' category in and on this thing, and there's still a surprising amount of room for more. The color goes with basically all of the features and decor of my home, and the design is nice and simple, not something that's likely to be gaudy in 10 years. I'm very pleased with this purchase. The only thing I would really change would be to make the bottom legs longer for more accessibility, as it is quite low to the ground, so someone with trouble bending will find it a hassle to reach most of the things in the unit.

We just bought this TV stand and a 40" tv for a spare room. I'm very happy with the quality of it. It's very sturdy and looks great. The directions are clear and it only took my husband and I about 45 minutes to put it together. In all honesty, I wasn't expecting this great quality for the amount of money we paid. I'm happy to say, we were pleasantly surprised. It has a rich deep tone and it looks great in the new spare room. This picture doesn't do it justice. The grain on it is so pretty.

Solid, not as hard to put together as some people on here make it out to be. The only part that was difficult for me to put on was the back piece that had a bunch of screws but few predrilled holes. Besides that this is a solid piece. Plenty of shelves for multiple consoles or entertainment center equipment. The part that looks like drawers is actually a cabinet. Can’t really beat it at this price, plus was on sale when I bought it.

Very sturdy, great color. Assembly was time consuming. I used a drill, and I could not imagine how long it would have taken if i had used a screw driver like the instructions suggested.

I bought this for my Samsung QLED 55" tv and it's really good! It did take me 2 days to set this up- I was setting this up really late in the first day and stopped because of the back panel- there are no preinstalled holes for the nails in the back. The next morning I decided to just nail in holes rather than borrow a drill and afterwards screw in the panel with the holes I made.
So far, it still looks new and I have a huge gaming collection taking up the space. System wise- PS3, PS4, Switch and Wii U. I also have all my games (3DS as well) and movies in the nice compartments.
The instructions are easy to follow, just be aware that you will have to make holes in the back to screw in the back panel.

A bit tricky to put together. Instructions unclear. Only poorly drawn pictures to go by and some were actually incorrect. This looks nice once assembled. Nice looking wood. Nice wood grain. Heavy solid furniture. Sturdy. Doors fit well and can be adjusted. Lots of holes on back of compartments for running wires and cables thru. Ok for the price but a better deal if you can grab this on-sale. This appears to be actual wood and not pressed cardboard as most user assembled furniture. Color and texture looks really nice. A light tan/coco looking color.

I purchased this TV stand/entertainment center a couple of weeks ago based upon the reviews I had read here, and I wasn't disappointed. In fact, after all of the comments about easy assembly, I was a bit surprised at how complicated it was and how many of those danged "cam-lock" fasteners I had to fiddle with during assembly. Let me provide a few pointers to prospective purchasers and offer some details that I couldn't find in the current crop of reviews.
First I want to make one very important point to anyone who, like myself, purchases this piece of furniture to serve as a cabinet for their audio and A/V equipment. (Sorry kiddies, I'm not into gaming. I have this thing called a life, lol.) Measure the width and depth of your components before you buy this, or you may be in for a bad surprise! My components consist of a "standard-width" Sony A/V receiver, DVD player and CD player. All are 17 inches wide and, while their depth varies, the receiver needs at least 16-17 inches for itself and all of the plugs and connections on its back. My initial intent was to place these pieces of equipment on the vertical shelves on the stand's left side; however, going to the store and measuring the display unit revealed that those shelves are only 15 inches wide! So I had to resort to "plan B," which, if you look at my photo, worked out pretty well -- but since the stand is only 15 inches deep, I had to cut off half of the heavy fiberboard backing behind the top shelf to allow room for the connections behind the receiver ... and also to provide ventilation around it. (If you score it with a knife, it'll snap along that line very cleanly.) As you can see in the photo, the receiver just barely fits that shelf vertically too ... the opening is exactly six inches tall ... which you can expand by about an inch and a half if you leave off the trim piece under the top shelf, but I decided not to for aesthetics and the fact that my receiver *just* fit.
OK ... let's move on to assembly. The stand came packed very well ... much better than some pieces of customer-assembled furniture I've purchased that have arrived damaged. There are Styrofoam panels not only between pieces, but also surrounding everything in the box and protecting the contents from the inevitable bumps and slams during shipment. Mine arrived undamaged even though the box had a few dings in it.
I was impressed at the organization and thoughtfulness of packing. A very detailed assembly booklet was included -- one nitpick, however: the diagrams could've been a bit larger. Some were pretty hard to make out. Each piece is numbered or lettered with a decal that corresponds to each step in the booklet, along with each piece of hardware, which also was well-packed and organized (see photo). Make sure you have a sharp knife (like an X-Acto) to slit open the hardware package along the semi-scored slits on its back. Like most blister packaging today, it's nearly impossible to open without destroying the contents or your fingers, and tearing at it risks sending all that stuff flying across the room, under the sofa, etc.! There's a second, orange bag containing the hardware necessary to anchor the stand to your wall if you have a TV on top of it. (Since I wasn't doing this, I didn't open that bag and the stand is very sturdy for my purposes.)
A few pieces of assembly advice:
(1) Have regular and short-handled Phillips screwdrivers at the ready. Some of the cam-locks are in places where a standard-length screwdriver (not to mention your hand) won't fit.
(2) Clean out the holes for the cam-lock cams, which there are a LOT of, before you insert the cams. Many of the holes in my pieces were partially blocked by wood scraps from manufacturing.
(3) Invest in a $15 cordless screwdriver. Believe me when I tell you that many of the screws (especially the dozens of cam-lock anchors) are long and difficult to drive in. Your hands and wrists will thank you!
(4) I have a disability in my legs, and I found this rather short stand much easier to assemble at waist-height on a folding table. If you do this, make sure your support table is sturdy. While this stand isn't huge, it weighs about 75 pounds.
Final thoughts: Yes, it's very well-made and sturdy. No, it's not solid wood; it's that standard particle-board stuff with a (nice) veneer -- which, btw, is darker than the photo at the top of this page suggests. It's very dark brown with some black grain in it, which (as you can see in my photo) worked out well for me since my surrounding bookcases are black. I'm very happy with this piece of furniture, even though I'm not using it as a "TV stand" for my 55-inch ... my main reason for buying it was because I needed a place for my turntable and a rather tall center speaker, not to mention my A/V equipment -- and I hate stands with open sides to show off your rat's nest of wires. This one hides it all nicely (even comes with two Velcro loops to attach to the rear to contain your wiring) and looks good while doing so. Highly recommended ... just be aware that it's well-made, which means it's going to take a couple of hours to put together properly.
